Rarely do we stumble upon a sure-thing in Fantasy Football. However, the potential profit offered by Liverpool’s midfield assets over their forthcoming run of fixtures gets pretty close.

The Reds manage to avoid all the sides currently residing in the top eight in the Premier League, right up until the Merseyside Derby on the December 19.

And as if that wasn’t enough, they will have the chance to fill their boots against three of the sides currently situated in the bottom six – Middlesborough, Sunderland and West Ham United.

The question facing Fantasy managers isn’t whether they should have a Liverpool player in their squad, it’s simply a question of who.

For 36.9% of FPL managers, the answer has been Phillipe Coutinho and, with his recent performance in Gameweek 9 against West Bromwich Albion, he has been promoted in our thinking. Coutinho’s stock continues to rise.

But, given his ownership and the options elsewhere in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield, is Coutinho really the stand out option?

In this latest article for members, we will analyse the Opta data to track Coutinho’s progress, attempting to assess whether, with so many strong midfielders on offer, he is truly a player that warrants such popularity.

Any chance of knowing Walcott's status before the deadline?

Can you refer any website or something?
    Please help.

Thought he might be popular. Had him earlier in the season when he did nothing. Also have Austin so would be doubling.

3 tough home fixtures - might still be worth a shot

        1. Camp No No
          10 years, 10 days ago

But then he has easy away matches. Preferably, you want it the other way around, bench for tough away games and play or even captain for easy home matches, but tough home - easy away schedule also means he's got some chances for returns any week. Southampton have been strong against anybody.

I think if fixtures aren't a factor then Chadli is my first choice, the fact he's on pens really helps.

Just not sure about next 2 fixtures - City and Leicester.

I got him in before last GW as I knew I'd want him soon enough anyway and wanted to replace Antonio.

Besides, City don't do CSs at the moment and Leicester maaay have a CL hangover next week. He's involved in a good chunk of WBA's goals. That was my thinking anyway. Didn't expect much from him instantly.

Walcott is supposedly a doubt for the 12:30 KO might be worth considering putting a good backup midfield on the bench so if you do play him and he doesn't then your 1st sub can replace him.

I think Iwobi could be under threat from Ox if Wally does play, and possibly Giroud and Ox if Wally doesn't play.

Oh. If you already have him then it makes sense to play him this gw especially, as he'll either be a rotation risk or play and potentially score well.

My first comment was pure speculation anyway so I wouldn't be too concerned considering I've been wrong a million times already this season. 😉

Bit the bullet and took a -8pt hit.

Not happy about it but with Walcott a doubt and a bench of Baines, Snodgrass and Amat I felt I had to do something. 🙁

Baines to Lovren in order to afford Coutinho for Wally.

Not overly happy with the Lovren pick but I already have Smith, Pieters and Holebas so didn't fancy any other defenders up to a max price of 4.9mil.

    Have I made a mistake?

    1. NATSTER

Lovren and Coutinho are good picks.

They are free from European competition and will get benefit from that freshness.

      1. devils advocate

Yeah Coutinho looks to be a solid pick.

Lovren and the Liverpool defense isn't exactly great for fpl, but I'm taking a punt in hope that their great fixtures will at least return something over the coming weeks.

        Fingers crossed and thanks.

Usually taking hits shows poor planning and therefore I would consider it a mistake. Liked your moves though. Who do you bench out of those defenders this week?

        I have no idea. Suggestions?

Looks fine. Usually it's best to just take the hit when you need to rather than dragging it out and losing more points slowly over the weeks. At least you're happy with you're team now

If Walcott is out for this GW, would you sell?

He then has two tough GW's between an away CL match in Eastern Europe and a tough CL match against PSG.

Anyone else wanting United coverage for today? I'm hovering over brining in Mata instead of Coutinho. Too much of a risk?

C'mon, Mata or Cout it's not even close

        Mata will outscore him today

          Maybe 1 game

          IF he starts

No scenario where he plays 90 minutes though

Can't do the defensive work José demands

See his horrible contribution to Hazard's goal
