After Everton defeated West Ham 2-0 at Goodison earlier, we now turn our attentions to St Mary’s as Southampton entertain Chelsea at 4pm.

Diego Costa and Eden Hazard boast the greatest threat as the Blues look to grab a fourth successive league win.

The Spain international – who remains one yellow away from a single-match ban – has netted four goals in as many road trips, whilst Hazard has notched in each of his last four starts for club and country.

Chelsea’s recent move to 3-4-3 has harvested three straight clean sheets in the top-flight, though their hosts have been similarly resilient in front of their own fans.

The Saints have conceded just one goal in their last five home matches in all competitions and have been breached on only eight occasions over the first nine Gameweeks.

With a trip to Hull next up on their agenda, Nathan Redmond and Charlie Austin have the chance to stake a claim for our consideration, as the latter looks to net for the third successive league outing.

    Sanchez to Haz worth it?

Sanchez has some difficult fixtures coming up and could be rotated with long international trips/cl games. Hazard looks bang in form

    (end of last page fail...)
    I have the following midfield:

    Sanchez Walcott Firmino Sterling Capoue

Is it madness to ship Sanchez for Hazard and upgrade Sterling to Coutinho? Or any other suggestions? I would like to get Hazard in, not convinced of Sterling and not too sure about doubling up on Arsenal. I would rather have two Liverpool midfielders as their fixtures look much better.

What are your thoughts? Any suggestions? (I have 2 FT and 0 ITB)

Both long term moves, are either of these worth doing this week for a hit?

    A) Mustafi -> Fuchs
    B) Rashford -> Austin

No idea how to set up my team this week. Injured Theo, 3 Watford away to Liverpool and Walker vs Kos isn't great. Fortunately I have 2.5Mil in the bank and 2FTs, but where to start?

I'd like Theo n Deeney out but that still leaves defensive issues. Deeney Theo Walker to Austin Smith Sanchez?

    Heaton Pickford
    Holebas Walker Kos Evans Amat
    Walcott Allen Firmino Sterling Capoue
    Aguero Deeney Costa

    2FTs - Sterling + Walcott to...

    A) Coutinho + Redmond (Haz in 4-5 weeks for good run)
    B) Haz + Redmond

    Rest of team:

    Sanchez - Firmino - WALCOTT - STERLING - Allen
    Agüero - Lukaku - Deeney

That kind of renegade thinking could get a man stoned on this site. I thought we were all bound to template/hive mind suggestions...

Nice though, I'll look into it.

I'm a Holebas owner but think his time is coming to an end - at least for the rest of the calendar year. It will be nice to get another price rise out of him, however.

Hey all a little help needed

    Pickford, Grant
    Williams, Holebas, Vertong, Kingsley, Amat
    Firmino, Allen, Capoue, Walcott, KDB
    Aguero, Costa, Lukaku

    a) Williams and Amat for Stones and Lovren -4
    b) Williams and Capoue for Stones and Moses -4
    c) Amat to Lovren no hit
    d) Capoue to Moses no hit

Capoue price drop today I think and not sure Amat is going to play or not so bit risky shipping him

    Thanks

Capoue shouldn't drop that quickly - on Friday maybe, if at all this week. But even then I wouldn't be in a rush to get him out unless you have 2 FTs and no other plans. Transfers around International game weeks are more precious than losing 0.1 of profit.

personally would sell off Capoue. The last 4 games he's not getting into scoring positions. Coincidentally, they got 3 CS the last 4 games. Maybe Materazzi tweaked his tactics a bit?

Gundogan is actually a pretty interesting one to watch/punt. Bolasie is another one, though his fixtures are not the best. Or you can go Matic/Kante for that random points they'll score sometimes.

Sorry if this has been posted before, but looks like Antonio Valencia will be out until December.

Been doing some scouting today. And just realises that no one ever quoted the 3 index Threat, Creativity and Influence. And as far as I know, I haven't seen any articles that quoted these three index yet. So, a question crept into my mind. Are these unreliable? Or is it just because it is a new feature so no one is paying close attention to it yet?

A quarter of the season has passed. So, I try to do a simple and quick analysis. For those who aren't familiar with these index, can read via this link. https://www.premierleague.com/news/65567. I'm just interested to look at the Mid and Fwd because these are the positions that are going to provide with the biggest chunk of our points.

This is the ranking based on each index. I separate Mid and Fwd.

    Influence:-

    1. Sanchez
    2. Coutinho
    3. Hazard

    1. Costa
    2. Lukaku
    3. Aguero

    Creativity:-

    1. Payet
    2. Tadic
    3. Silva

    1. Ibrahimovic
    2. Barrow
    3. Lukaku

    Threat:-

    1. Walcott
    2. Sanchez
    3. Coutinho

    1. Ibrahimovic
    2. Costa
    3. Aguero

And finally, sorted by ICT index, I list the top 8 mixing both forwards and midfielders. This is, copied from the website, "...offers a single figure that presents a view on that player as an FPL asset."

    1. Ibrahimovic
    2. Coutinho
    3. Sanchez
    4. Costa
    5. Lukaku
    6. Firmino
    7. Payet
    8. Hazard

    --

Based on these data, in terms of translation to points, I believe the Influence index is the best that represents the total scored by the players. At least for Mid and Fwd. For defenders, it does not seem so. This is most likely due to the higher emphasis on goals and assists.

The least likely index that will translate to points is creativity. Indeed, this makes sense because assists bring less points than goals. Also, it includes chances created. Which means, key passes and crosses that their teammates didn't convert won't be translated into points.

    --

The most interesting observation we can note here is how high Ibrahimovic is ranked in each of the list except for influence. This shows that Ibrahimovic has been getting and creating chances for teammates but somehow he and his teammates just fail to convert these chances. Based on these numbers, it can be argued that Ibrahimovic is basically a ticking bomb. We will never know when or will his numbers be translated to FPL points or not, but the numbers are there.

Further looking at the numbers (other than the top 3), I would argue that the index are a pretty useful tool to consider using in terms of planning your transfers, because it also take into consideration pitch location and giving higher weightage to actions that are regarded as higher chance.

I feel this will be important when determing to get your 3rd/4th/5th mid and/or your 3rd striker.

However, it alone won't be enough. Again, need to look in more details (including fixtures, current form, injuries, formation change) to be fully effective.

Hope it's gonna be useful to some people. Pretty long post lolz
