Our latest Captain Poll has now launched to gauge your early views on the top armband options for Gameweek 12.

Last week’s poll leader Sergio Aguero (13.1) now has three goals in his last two league matches after netting in Man City’s home draw against Middlesbrough.

Owned by 46.3% of Fantasy Premier League managers, the Argentine will be amongst the leading contenders once again, as he travels to a Crystal Palace side still seeking a first Premier League clean sheet of 2016/17.

His 10%-owned team-mate, Kevin De Bruyne (10.7) could be an enticing alternative, having scored or assisted in all four of his away appearances this season.

After a sensational 19-point FPL haul at home to Everton, Eden Hazard (10.0) has been drafted in by more than 147,000 managers ahead of Chelsea’s Gameweek 12 trip to Middlesbrough.

With five goals and two assists over his last four league matches, Hazard looks set to be one of Aguero’s fiercest rivals for the Gameweek 12 captaincy.

Also in his favour is a 14-point return away to Southampton in Gameweek 10, which indicates the Belgian may have addressed a travel sickness that has blighted him throughout his Fantasy Premier League career.

With a goal or assist in nine of the first 11 Gameweeks, Diego Costa (10.5)’s consistency makes him another armband favourite among Chelsea’s ranks.

But ‘Boro will be no pushovers.

Aitor Karanka’s side have conceded just once in the last three, which includes clashes against Arsenal and Man City. Furthermore, the Teessiders have been breached on just six occasions in five home fixtures.

With five goals against in the last three Gameweeks, Southampton’s defensive resolve has softened of late.

This presents another batch of strong captaincy candidates among the ranks of visitors Liverpool, who have scored 30 times this season, more than any side.

Topping the Reds armband options is Philippe Coutinho (8.7), who served up his fourth double-digit haul of the season during Sunday’s 6-1 thrashing of Watford. With an ownership of 45.8%, the Brazilian is FPL’s most popular midfielder.

Roberto Firmino (8.6) and Sadio Mane (9.0) both delivered impressive returns of 15 and 13 points respectively in that match to ensure they remain contenders in the poll.

Mane, who was sold by Southampton in the summer, is particularly intriguing for those who subscribe to the theory that players perform better against former employers.

Romelu Lukaku (9.8) may have blanked in Everton’s 5-0 humbling away to Chelsea on Saturday but in Gameweek 12 the 33.7%-owned striker faces a far more obliging defence.

Visitors Swansea have conceded nine times in their last four matches, while the Belgian international has scored in all bar one of his home league encounters. It would be no surprise to see him near the top of the poll by the end of the international break.

Alexis Sanchez’ away form looks promising as Arsenal make their way to Old Trafford. Six of the Chilean’s seven goals have arrived on the road, as he faces a defence with just two shut-outs in the last eight Gameweeks.

Elsewhere in north London, Harry Kane returned to action with a converted spot-kick at the Emirates yesterday.

Owned by a mere 5% of FPL managers, the Spurs striker has netted in each of his last three Premier League outings and hosts West Ham’s leaky defence at the Lane.

Gameweek 12’s differential captaincy options are led by Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe (7.3), who has six goals this season and hosts a Hull City outfit that has conceded 13 times on their travels.

We will be back to check in on progress in the poll later next week, as we deliver our “Captain Sensible” article offering our view of the results and the statistics behind the leading contenders.

Wouldn't bother as you'll need to get rid of at least 1 after that when fixtures turn. I think McAuley is the one to have anyway. I have Evans as well but McAuley looks like a big goal threat. Evans is rarely in the box

Doesn't even go up for set pieces - I wish I got McAuley when they were both 4.5 but stuck/happy with Evans anyway.

Yeah I've considered doing Evans to McAuley for a hit as it should re pay easily over the season. Don't have the cash at the moment but its on the cards for me at some point

What if Evans puts in a couple. He's been full back too could sneak an assist or two. Id save until you can do it for free.

Not likely though, have you checked the stats? Even if you're not a member, just check the Threat stat on FPL, McAuley has over 100 if I remember correctly (whatever that means) and Evans is somewhere around 10.... A huuuuuuuge difference mate!

So reluctant to get rid of sanchez. won my MLs with him last season with my triple capt. Have him since day one this season.
But is ozil a good replacement?? Looks better this season.

Ozil is a good replacement if you convince yourself hard enough. Works for others and makes the decision to drop Sanchez easier.

people talking about transferring out lukaku for a hit in order to fund Hazard before swansea at home just shows you how blinkered peoples perspective can get on this site from simply reading a lot of comments and articles that say he is essential after one whopping haul (prior to that there were three or four midfielders keeping pace with him) . I ve heard people talking about getting rid of firmino , an OOP midfielder who got 15 points yesterday . its barmy.

Sanchez to Hazard for a hit then if you really want him now. He'll only go up 0.2 more though this week. And then you wouldn't expect him to rise much before Spurs and Man City games

sorry but its barmy when your talking about getting rid of players who have consistently racked up double digits and haven't put a foot wrong since you got them in, like firmino and lukaku (until his blank yesterday) your going against all reason when you try to justify taking out firmino after getting 15 points

        1. Worzel Gummidge
          9 years, 8 months ago

People dropping Firm for Haz is not barmy. Has has been the best midfielder last 4 games and is top of the pile. Calling that barmy is just you trying to justify not getting Haz in. Dont get him in then.

      1. Worzel Gummidge
        9 years, 8 months ago

Well I got Firms points and Haz is a better pick. No need to justify that at all. Be easier to justify playing a BB in GW1 based on a rubbish post and getting 20 points LOL. How can you justify that? Ouch

          • 14 Years

Not saying it's a terrible move btw but you accusing others of being blinded by their moves when it's just as applicable to you.

Actually got 24 points from the BB and it's justified through rationale. What point(s) from Ruth's original post do you disagree with?

Lukaku for this week looks brilliant, and then could always transfer back to Ibra after that?

Austin looks relatively fixture-proof (he's who I got in for Ibra last night)

Worth a -4 hit on Walcott and Zuniga (don't ask) > Lallana and Janmaat?

So it's time to part company with Ibra. The obvious move is Lukaku(c) but if I get a cheapie I can do Fletcher>Hazard and go 3-5-2... I can get Haz the following week for Theo if I take a hit on Foster>4.0 though...?

Quite like the idea of Wilson and having him or Austin as first sub going into Xmas?

What would be my best bet?

    Cheers 🙂

Anything I should be looking to do over next couple of weeks?

Sam Vokes who has 3 goals in last 4 rotates perfectly with Allen

in gw 15, 18, 19 Allen has arsenal liverpool and chelsea all away

Vokes has BOU MID and SUN all home..

Rotating both in this attack looks a good plan. Thoughts ?

    Afternoon Scouts!

I was an idiot last week and did Ibra, Snoddy and Amat to Giroud, Milner and Fuchs for -4. Damaging my score by a healthy 26 points in total.

So I don't trust myself to come up with the right answer this week, any thoughts most welcome!

    Heaton
    Williams - Kone - Evans
    Mane - Lallana - Milner* - Walcott*
    Kun - Lukaku - Giroud*
    ((Pickford - Capoue - Fuchs - Koscielny*))

Thinking of one of the following.

    A) --- GET CHELSEA IN ---
    Kosc + Walcott + Giroud
    out for
    Alonso + Hazard + Austin
    (-8, 0.1 left))

    or

    B) --- RECTIFY MISTAKE ---
    Milner + Giroud
    for
    Coutinho + Austin
    (-4, 0.0itb)

Believe me I make some poor decisions but I don't understand which one of your transfers in you really thought was worth a hit.

I understand the players out, although that proved to be the worst bit as Ibra must have been frustrating and Snoddy was not really going to be playing for more than about 15 minutes. Frustrating game at times eh

Agree about losing Giroud for Austin, I recommend doing that sooner rather than later as there may be a rise and fall
