Our latest Captain Poll has now launched to gauge your early views on the top armband options for Gameweek 12.

Last week’s poll leader Sergio Aguero (13.1) now has three goals in his last two league matches after netting in Man City’s home draw against Middlesbrough.

Owned by 46.3% of Fantasy Premier League managers, the Argentine will be amongst the leading contenders once again, as he travels to a Crystal Palace side still seeking a first Premier League clean sheet of 2016/17.

His 10%-owned team-mate, Kevin De Bruyne (10.7) could be an enticing alternative, having scored or assisted in all four of his away appearances this season.

After a sensational 19-point FPL haul at home to Everton, Eden Hazard (10.0) has been drafted in by more than 147,000 managers ahead of Chelsea’s Gameweek 12 trip to Middlesbrough.

With five goals and two assists over his last four league matches, Hazard looks set to be one of Aguero’s fiercest rivals for the Gameweek 12 captaincy.

Also in his favour is a 14-point return away to Southampton in Gameweek 10, which indicates the Belgian may have addressed a travel sickness that has blighted him throughout his Fantasy Premier League career.

With a goal or assist in nine of the first 11 Gameweeks, Diego Costa (10.5)’s consistency makes him another armband favourite among Chelsea’s ranks.

But ‘Boro will be no pushovers.

Aitor Karanka’s side have conceded just once in the last three, which includes clashes against Arsenal and Man City. Furthermore, the Teessiders have been breached on just six occasions in five home fixtures.

With five goals against in the last three Gameweeks, Southampton’s defensive resolve has softened of late.

This presents another batch of strong captaincy candidates among the ranks of visitors Liverpool, who have scored 30 times this season, more than any side.

Topping the Reds armband options is Philippe Coutinho (8.7), who served up his fourth double-digit haul of the season during Sunday’s 6-1 thrashing of Watford. With an ownership of 45.8%, the Brazilian is FPL’s most popular midfielder.

Roberto Firmino (8.6) and Sadio Mane (9.0) both delivered impressive returns of 15 and 13 points respectively in that match to ensure they remain contenders in the poll.

Mane, who was sold by Southampton in the summer, is particularly intriguing for those who subscribe to the theory that players perform better against former employers.

Romelu Lukaku (9.8) may have blanked in Everton’s 5-0 humbling away to Chelsea on Saturday but in Gameweek 12 the 33.7%-owned striker faces a far more obliging defence.

Visitors Swansea have conceded nine times in their last four matches, while the Belgian international has scored in all bar one of his home league encounters. It would be no surprise to see him near the top of the poll by the end of the international break.

Alexis Sanchez’ away form looks promising as Arsenal make their way to Old Trafford. Six of the Chilean’s seven goals have arrived on the road, as he faces a defence with just two shut-outs in the last eight Gameweeks.

Elsewhere in north London, Harry Kane returned to action with a converted spot-kick at the Emirates yesterday.

Owned by a mere 5% of FPL managers, the Spurs striker has netted in each of his last three Premier League outings and hosts West Ham’s leaky defence at the Lane.

Gameweek 12’s differential captaincy options are led by Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe (7.3), who has six goals this season and hosts a Hull City outfit that has conceded 13 times on their travels.

We will be back to check in on progress in the poll later next week, as we deliver our “Captain Sensible” article offering our view of the results and the statistics behind the leading contenders.

I sold Hazard 4 weeks ago because he had 4 blanks in a row.

Since then he has returned 8,8,14,19

There are certain players that are excellent options and you just know they will return points. Aguero, Sanchez, Firmino, Coutinho, Hazard etc

Maybe the best plan is to stick with them rather than chasing last week points. Okay if Coutinho goes 3 months without doing anything then ditch him but what are the odd of that? 0.5%?

Sanchez to Hazard for 3 weeks then back to Sanchez for a month then back to Hazard again and guess what? You've missed the majority of both players points. Maybe it was best just to stick with Sanchez?

Problem is with those in midfield I would need to drop Costa which is not happening. 1 has to go and I dropped Firmino. Spread the risk instead of double up midfield.

Getting rid of Guidolin was silly. They had been performing really well and suffered from an unfriendly fixture list.

Bradley, so far at least, has been a downgrade

Is Son > Hazard and Lallana > 4.6 (fifth mid) worth it for a -4?

There would mean Joe Allen is my fourth mid. Not sure how I feel about that.

    New plan for -8:
    Out: Mustafi, Wally, Sterling, Costa
    In: McAuley, Sanchez, Haz, Vokes

    Leaves me with:
    Boruc
    Cahill, McAuley, Pieters
    Haz, Sanchez, Firm, Arna
    Vokes, Agu, Tekkers

    Pickford, Capoue, Keane, Amat.

Worth, and before price increases? Thanks for feedback.

I hate Hazard. The situation is tearing me apart. I love Sanchez and Mane, but one of them has to go... yes? Or..

I will not lie to you, I had some moments of weakness. With tears in my eyes I pointed my cursor over "confirm transfers" many times these days, but I just couldnt do it.

And now I'm as calm as a belgian (don't know if you have a simmilar expression, but we in Lithuania have one. It fits very well in this Hazard context 🙂 ). I think that I will wait not only until internationals are finished. I guess, I can even wait until GW15.

At first, I believe in Sanchez. His 11mil price is not for nothing. And looks like Wenger still keen on him as a striker. Even if he's not starting vs ManU, his other fixtures until GW15 are much better than Hazards.

Second, I guess that it's not the time to part with Mane too. I have Cautinho, but he's likely to be rested after int. Also, Livepool are so amazing, you all know that, etc., etc...

Last but not least, I think that next three CHE fixtures can't be ignored. I see that many people say that Hazard is fixture proof, but... is he? I got him in last time when people said the same and got rid of him after consecutive blanks. Many people done that.

The key, my fellow FPL players, is patience. I personally don't care that Hazard will be 10.2 at the end of int break. If by that time I'll change my mind, I still could do Sanchez -> Hazard straight swap, or Mane + Koschelny -> Hazard + 5.5 for a -4.

And if I dont change my mind, I'm going to tinker something to get Hazard in for GW15. Dont care that he would be about 10.5 or more by that time.

Don't rush when the internationals are uppon us! 🙂

And sorry for language mistakes in a long post. 🙂

Looking to go into 352 with the next week:

    Haz, Kdb, Mane, Cout, Allen

Anything worth nothing? Defence can cover Allens 5th yellow. Whats the best pick in the 4.5 3rd strikers category?

Do it. It's where the cool kids are at.

Not sure what 'anything worth nothing' means, though.

The best £4.5m is probably Diomande, closely followed by Anichebe. I still feel the former offers more chance of minutes. Neither will score more than 2 goals this year.

I am as desperate as everyone else to get Hazard in but really can't see him scoring big over next 3 gameweeks, going to hold and keep the fingers crossed that A. He doesn't score big and B. He doesn't rise too high in that time.

When I refresh Hazard is either 9.9m or 10m. I don't own him yet.

Can't believe people think Sanchez is worth 1.4 more than Hazard

Not sure people do, it's the fixtures until GW 15 that's the main issue

He's just scored 49(?) points against Leicester, Saints, United, Everton..

I'd prefer Sanchez v BOU and WHU than Hazard v City and Spurs who are a level above the teams he's gained those points, IMO

You have a good point but Sanchez in those fixtures I think is a better option.

In a few weeks time, people will again be using the phrase 'flat track bully' again, 2 tough away games and tough home game in between, I'll be the first to hold my hands up if wrong.

You dont think Sanchez is worth it so get rid. What do you want posting this all the time. People agreeing to make you feel better. just drop Sanch for Haz if you think this and be done with it

Been seeing a bit of interest in Nyom as a cheap defensive option.

I know he's started the last few, but surely he's far from nailed on with Galloway, Brunt and even Evans all being capable of playing in that position?

I'd be very cautious if considering him.

I was thinking the same as to whether Nyom is nailed on or not..

      Agree to an extent.

I just don't feel Brunt and Galloway 'feel' like Pulis type LBs. I watched the game against Leicester and he had Mahrez largely in his pocket. I don't think it's his place for keeps, but should be for the next 4-5 weeks. And he feels just as nailed on as Brunt is in midfield.

Having said that, I already own Evans, and he'd be the budget option I'd be looking to buy before Nyom.
