Woe for Argentina, yet another injury scare for Kompany and a literally forgettable appearance from Janssen marks the start of November’s international action. Here’s the round-up of Wednesday and Thursday’s matches.

Brazil 3 Argentina 0

Philippe Coutinho (8.7) continued his hot run of form with the opener in a humbling of bitter rivals Argentina.

The Liverpool midfielder cut in from the left and fired home a trademark long-range screamer as Brazil exorcised the ghosts of 2014 at Belo Horizonte – scene of their World Cup semi-final mauling by Germany.

Coutinho now has three goals and as many assists in his last four matches for club and country.

The hosts made short work of an Argentinian defence that included Man City pair Pablo Zabaleta (4.7) and Nicolas Otamendi (5.9), as well as Everton centre half Ramiro Funes Mori (4.7) and Man United reserve keeper Sergio Romero (4.8) – four players with just two league clean sheets between them this season.

After suffering an October international break during which he suffered an injury scare and missed a penalty, Sergio Aguero (13.1) failed to make the starting XI, but was introduced at half time to little effect.

City midfielder Fernandinho (5.4) played the full match for Brazil, whilst Roberto Firmino’s (8.7) 60,000+ new owners will be relieved after he was afforded an eight-minute sub appearance late in the match.

Chelsea’s Willian (7.2), meanwhile, was an unused sub.

The Brazilian contingent now look forward a Qualifier with Peru in the early hours of Wednesday morning before they travel back ahead of Gameweek 12.

Argentina face Colombia in their own qualifier on Tuesday night.

Holland 1 Belgium 1

The in-form Eden Hazard (10.1) captained Belgium but went goalless for the first time in six league and international matches in Wednesday’s friendly with Holland.

Coach Roberto Martinez had said pre-match that he might struggle to find a starting place for Man City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne (10.7) in the light of the fine form of Dries Mertens. In the end they both played, with Belgium initially fielding no recognised striker.

De Bruyne’s team-mate, Vincent Kompany (5.9), was due to start. But in a season consistently blighted by injury, he complained of feeling discomfort during the warm-up and had to be replaced by Watford’s Christian Kabasele (4.8).

Martinez played down worries over Kompany post-match, but the Belgian’s ongoing woes further cement John Stones’ (5.0 and 26.8%-owned) status as the Man City defender of choice for Fantasy Premier League managers.

Two Tottenham players were involved and both had matches to forget – literally in the case of Dutch striker Vincent Janssen (7.7), who lost 20 minutes of memory following a clash with Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet (4.8) and is now a doubt for Gameweek 12’s home match with West Ham.

His club colleague Jan Vertonghen (5.7) played the full match but gave away the penalty that led to Holland’s goal.

The friendly involved a plethora of other Premier League players, including Maarten Stekelenburg (5.1), Virgil Van Dijk (5.4), Daley Blind (5.8) and Georginio Wijnaldum (7.5). Romelu Lukaku (9.8) and Memphis Depay (7.2) also came on in the second half.

Meanwhile, Hazard was seen to be limping from the pitch on the whistle having suffered an awkward fall and collision, although there has been no news on any repercussions from that incident.

Hazard and Belgium are due to face Estonia in a World Cup Qualifier on Sunday, with the Dutch facing Luxembourg on the same day.

In South America’s other World Cup qualifiers, Arsenal’s David Ospina (4.8) kept a clean sheet for Colombia in a 0-0 draw with Chile.

At the other end of the pitch, Manchester City’s Claudio Bravo suffered a hip injury via two collisions either side of half-time which saw him forced off on 64 minutes.

Alexis Sanchez (11.3) played no part for Chile after picking up a training camp hamstring injury.

As we reported in yesterday’s Say What article, Chile face Uruguay on Tuesday, with Arsene Wenger urging the Chilean FA not to make a ‘suicidal’ decision to play their star man anytime soon.

A bad week for Wenger was worsened by the news that Hector Bellerin (6.6) had picked up an ankle injury on Spain U21 duty. The Spaniard, along with Sanchez, is a doubt for the Gunners’ Gameweek 12 trip to Man United.

Middlesbrough duo Christhian Stuani (5.1) and Gaston Ramirez (5.3) were involved in Uruguay’s 2-1 win over Ecuador. The former played the full 90 minutes and the latter came on in the second half.

Elsewhere in Europe, Leicester’s Demarai Gray (4.8) scored and on-loan Middlesbrough defender Calum Chambers (4.4) provided the assist for the late winner as England’s U21 team beat their Italian counterparts 3-2. Southampton midfielder-turned-striker Nathan Redmond (6.0) played the full 90 minutes.

Coutinho is also possibly the single best player to watch when he's in your team.

He's always been a fantasy footballer, now he's becoming a Fantasy Footballer.

A few nuggets of advice regrading Sanchez.

Firstly this whole thing from the Chilean FA reaks. He is obviously injured and most likely will be out for a while but there is a cover up going on. First calf, now hamstring! How can you get the two mixed up? Seems like Chilean FA are looking to cover there tracks.

Secondly Sanchez dropping in price and is playing a bang on form utd side who just put Swansea to the sword with Ibra back in the goals. Even s 100% fut Sachez would get blank in this sort of game. Hes a flat track bully anyway goes missing in the big games when it counts.

Reposting as valuable advice and hoping one of the mods will hulk so the community can benefit.

Disagree about united form and Sanchez blanking. Hit 2 versus united last year and they are currently no better.

A win versus a team who literally can't defend, and a keeper who really should have done better does not make united great.

I do however agree that I don't think he'll make the starting 11

                    Valuable advice? 😆

This is the biggest load of rubbish I've read on here all week.

I don't know why I'm even wasting my time responding, but for starters how do you figure united are bang on form? Because they beat one of the worst teams presently in the league? Come on now.

Also, Ibra may be back in the goals, but this means very little to Sanchez or Arsenal as a whole, because Ibra is suspended for their gw12 meeting.

So Sanchez is a flat track bully that goes missing in big games? You must have a very short memory because I vividly remember him almost single handedly destroying us with 2 first half goals in our meeting around this same time last season.

The only thing you made a little sense on was Chile seemingly withholding the full extent of Sanchez's injury from Wenger and Arsenal, and even then you've made recent speculation sound like a full fledged international conspiracy. 😆

Your post was a load of rubbish and definitely not worth the repost.

Thanks for the laugh though. 😉

                    So basically

                  And in November 2014

                  Arsenal 3-0 Burnley
                  Swansea 2-1 Arsenal
                  Arsenal 1-2 Manchester United
                  WBA 0-1 Arsenal

Is the November curse just silly superstition or is there credibility in it as it coincides with a point in the season where, international players in particular, are more susceptible to fatigue and injury?

Mismanagement of players within a thin squad contributed in the past but we are looking pretty strong at the moment. Every position in the squad is covered.

Thankfully they only have two games this time, and one is at home to a bournemouth side they absolutely smashed last year.

Having brought Bellerin in last week, this is annoying. Gooners I know are convinced United will beat them, but without Zlatan...it could be a turgid, Mourinho-style affair.

I see buses in the future, lots of them, all parked in the way of Arsenal. That game has 1-0 late goal from 80th minute sub Ashley Young written all over it.

Question is whether United are good enough to do that.

Away from home, I have no doubt - it worked v Liverpool.

But at home, the crowd will get edgy. Pogba will want to strike gold. We'll be less disciplined.

On top of which, Arsenal can sit back and counter without their own crowd on their back, and Ozil can unleash the break.

I see Arsenal winning, but if it goes wrong for them early it could end badly.

There are maybe one or two teams i could see us setting up defensively against at Old Trafford.. none of them play in England.. We will approach that Arsenal game as we do every year and Jose does too.. get about them rough them up a bit and watch them crumble

I think they will loose to United because of these injuries, Mourinho-Wenger history and probably their November curse.
They'll probably be back to normal against Bournemouth at home.

A champions league win and a credible draw against an u beaten so far

There's definitely something to this theory though

Plus last years 3-0 apart we play awfully and don't turn up for some reason against United

Not sure. Based on current form, Arsenal should be in place to win at least 1 out the 2 games for November.

Putting the november curse aside, I don't like the fact that Sanchez+Cazorla is injured plus Bellerin as well. And remember Walcott just returned from injury as well and that hampered his momentum.

I know they have quality back-up. But in terms of FPL points, it's frustrating because we were assured of Sanchez and Walcott scoring the points. The injuries will definitely put doubts in my mind regarding assurance for points and playing time in the short term. Somehow I feel want to look away from arsenal players for the next 4-5 games.

Arsenal's points per month under Wenger:-
                      Nov- 1.59
                      Aug- 1.88
                      Jan- 1.89
                      May- 1.95
                      Feb- 1.97
                      Dec- 1.99
                      Apr- 2.09
                      Sep- 2.14
                      Oct- 2.15
                      Mar- 2.18
Certainly, november IS a problem for them.

November seems to be the peak for minor injuries and Arsenal / Wenger get more than most likely due to the way they manage the squad.

So could definitely be an underlying issue there.

Wenger also rotates less than other big clubs so maybe players come in that aren't used to playing together, meaning the injuries cause a bigger impact.

They now have Sanchez and Bellerin to deal with so whilst other players have returned from fitness we will have to see whether they can adapt.

                      Or it's witchcraft.

Not 100%. They play early hours UK time Wednesday. If they can both appear at training on Friday and look sharp then they will play. Of the pair with just a few minutes Firmino looks more secure. All will depend on Friday training. If they are late back for that then % drops a lot.

coutinho came on for the last 20 mins last time.

As jonty said it depends on friday training, but liverpool have made the best and fastest travel arrangements for the two Brazilians before so i would expect them to both to play, but wait till training pics from next friday.

Some of the comebacks are truly playground stuff - utterly cringe worthy.

                                Afternoon all,

Considering a def transfer next GW, planning to sell Smith due to fixtures and considering the following instead....

                                A. Holebas

                                B. McAuley

                                C. Brunt (if he still fits into the squad following McClean return)

                                D. Cedric

Back line is currently looking as follows:

                                Fuchs, Smith, Pieters, Kone, Amat

I will also be bringing Alonso for Fuchs in for GW15 when fixtures turn for both teams.

Can't remember the last time I managed to save a FT. GW3 I think, people are slipping in and out of form so much it's proving a difficult year.

I feel its a good season to save. Lots of knee-jerking seems to happen, feel waiting a couple of weeks and assessing gives you the room to bring the right players in and re-balance funds if needs be.

I think it's slightly harsh brushing the problems of the site just to non-members - I do agree it is probably in that (my) majority though.

Saying that, I'd definitely become a member if a member's forum became available.

The number of those capable of a reasoned footballing debate seems to be on the wane.. a lot more seem to like linking tweets and newspaper articles aimed with the intention of starting a slagging match aimed at a particular team or manager without contributing anything worthwhile of their own which is a pity..

All for a bit of banter and should be an important part of the site but an increasing number are taking themselves much too seriously i feel and squabbles over rank and links are cringey to say the least.. linking a team is entirely optional which is fair enough simply i wouldn't entertain a fantasy football discussion with someone who didn't.. and that's nothing personal just because i dunno if they are backing up what they say..

Wouldn't say i had any major gripes though from a fantasy football perspective i don't ask questions and the ticker and articles in particular are invaluable

This is another great point.. the blatantly over the top reactions to lol @ and 93 points this week green or red posts are the very reason those posts are still so frequent around matchdays

Does it make sense to do Lukaku > Vokes , Allen > Hazard?

Post those transfers I will have the following front 8:

                                Sanchez Mane Coutinho Hazard Capoue
                                Kun Vokes Austin

Or I could do Sanchez > Hazard , Capoue > Walcott.

                                That would leave me with,

                                Hazard Mane Coutinho Allen Walcott
                                Kun Lukaku Austin

I hate the idea of having Vokes as a regular starter tbh.

Getting Alonso now saves you a potential trade further down the line.

And Chelsea seem to be able to keep a cs against most regardless

Southampton, United and Everton weren't exactly easy fixtures. I think they are a safe bet at this point considering their great run of fixtures coming up soon.
