Fact or fiction, Friday night’s media circus surrounding Diego Costa was always going to impact on our Gameweek.

Over 374,000 Fantasy Premier League managers moved to show the Spaniard the door in the last 24-hours as reports stated that Costa had been “dropped” for Chelsea’s trip to Leicester City.

Of those transfers, more than 124,000 shifted to Olivier Giroud but, more significantly, just over 76,000 were to look to Spurs’ Harry Kane as their replacement.

Despite Giroud finding the net for the fourth successive Gameweek, Kane’s hat-trick and return of 17 points stole the headlines and provided an instant reward for those who had reacted to the Costa kerfuffle.

Another 32,000 have already pulled the plug on Costa since the passing of today’s deadline, seemingly consigning the striker to a term of absence and dismissing the prospect of Chelsea’s next fixture with Hull City at the Bridge.

It’s not clear if Costa will be a factor in that match.

Antonio Conte was quick to dispel the talk of a dispute or “bust-up”, citing a back problem as the cause of Costa’s omission. The striker will now apparently be assessed ahead of Gameweek 22, as the Blues work to diffuse talk of their player being unsettled.

That will be no easy task.

Ironically, even without their leading scorer, Chelsea were to breeze past the Foxes in third gear, with Marcos Alonso, another Fantasy asset subject to recent media reports, providing an unexpected brace and 21 points to outperform even Kane’s haul.

With Nathan Ake’s recall, there was talk and even reports that Alonso’s status in the Chelsea line-up was at risk.

The Standard reported “growing injury concerns” and, while Alonso’s start at the King Power was never seriously questioned, there were new doubts surrounding the Spaniard’s long-term prospects following Ake’s return.

Confidence was knocked. More than 78,000 FPL managers moved Alonso out of their squads over the past two Gameweeks, reacting to the four goals conceded but also perhaps the reports of Alonso’s “problem”.

Post-match, Alonso himself confirmed that there was some truth in the chatter but, with his emphatic performance, he had underlined both his present condition and importance to Chelsea and Fantasy managers.

The noise and bluster surrounding these two prize assets has been difficult to shut-out – in Costa’s case, it will inevitably continue.

The striker’s remaining owners will now be forced to strap themselves in for a prolonged period of uncertainty, with the tempting Gameweek 22 fixture providing an alluring reason to sit it out.

Meanwhile, those holding Alonso will be strengthening their grip.

Whatever the “pain” recently felt by the wing-back, it likely pales in significance next to the agony now being felt by those who sold him over the last two Gameweeks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

LIVERPOOL star Adam Lallana hasn't got himself in his Fantasy Football team.

The only Kop star he has got in his 15-man squad is forward Roberto Firmino. Lallana is in a league with friends and is only allowed one Liverpool player due to his inside knowledge on his team-mates. He told the FPL Show: “There’s about 30 or 40 of us in the league. I won it last year, but I’m mid-table this year. “It’s great fun, a lot of the lads play it.”

Lallana says he's kept with Firmino for most of the season but regrets not selecting himself. “Firmino! I’ve been loyal to him all season," he added.

“I think I have (been good value). It’s probably been a bit of a mistake not putting myself in at times. I don’t want to get carried away, put myself in and go on a drought."

    “£7.5m? Bargain!”

Think keeping. Could be a good move with Hull next.

You have to ask why are chelsea trying to cover the bust up with an injury, and I think it's because it gives him a way back into the starting 11. Simple.

Im torn on this. Ok he has Hull next ( IF he plays) but then Liverpool & Arsenal, while after Man City Kane has Sunderland & Boro, plus he could drop .3 while Kane goes .3 up meaning a .6 price swing depending when u bought him.
I think most will want Kane for those plum fixtures, Im tempted to do it now the more i mull over it..

    Hi guys,

Any steering on this would be great. Have had a very good GW but down to luck more than anything. Ake, Costa, Origi, Holebas need changing!

    Heaton - Pickford
    Alonso - Rose - Chambers - Holebas - Ake
    Hazard - Pogba - Eriksen - Alli - Clayton
    Ibra - Costa - Origi

    0ITB

    Could do

    A) Costa, Origi and Ake to Lukaku, Rondon and Yoshida?

    B) Origi and Ake to yoshida and Gray?

    C) something even more drastic like go 4-5-1 with ibra upfront and Sanchez in midfield

    I'm stumped!!

Think ur defence is fine for now. Not crazy about Pogba in there since u have Ibra tbh although his stats are good. Can u do Pog & Origi>> Philips & Lukaku/Defoe.
If you get Defoe u might have enough left to get Kane the following week for Costa for his nice fixtures

I have other plans for defence than double-up on WBA there. Looking for some cheapies in attack and midfield, and Rondon is what keeps on coming up.

The guy I've really missed out on is Crouch, though. He has produced the stats like the biggest of hitters lately, and got the points expectedly. Just if I didn't have so many problems with my team.

I can't really see any need to change my team in gw22. I have 1ft & 3.0itb. I'm at a loss what to do so suggestions very welcome. I'm thinking of saving my ft.

    Foster (Valdes)
    Alonso, Rose, Lovren (Jones, Pieters)
Sanchez (c), Alli, Lallana, Phillips, Stanislas
    Ibra, Giroud (Defoe)

I wanted to go Defoe to Kane but 0.2 short. I could go Defoe to Lukaku for free but then I have a benching headache but I could use my bench boost chip.

So which option do you like:
    (a) save ft or
    (b) Defoe out - Lukaku in for free (creates benching headache) or
    (c) anything else I've missed

    Thoughts & thanks.

Lovren not a great pick going forwards...fixtures turning nasty

Could save money there to facilitate the Kane upgrade

      Save.

If Giroud is out you could do Giroud to Kane or leave it and save the transfer anyway. Defoe away at WBA isn't the worst.

Save but consider benching Stanislas instead of Defoe

I'd wait on it if you can afford it so you can see how Liverpool do without Mane and how Coutinho is looking.

    Foster, Jaku
    Alonso, Jones, Smith (Williams, Holebas

    a. Origi ➡ 1. Crouch, 2. Rondon
    b. Allen, Origi ➡ Lallana, Crouch
    c. Allen, Kun, Origi ➡ Alli/Eriksen, Kane n Crouch
    d. something else?

    Thanks in advance!

Congrats. Felt like Lukaku was the mature Costa replacement, with fixtures and no GW 26 or 28 blanks, but still wimped out and got Giroud. Kane would have got me past 100 in style, but only third choice, so can't really gnash my teeth.

Was going to do Pieters to Chambers/Friend, however I have two other issues in that

1 - Nyom awaiting int'l clearance - will he get it soon? Has a good run ahead
2 - Costa - doubtful to play v Hull but if he does he could do well. Can't afford Ibra or Kane

    What do I do?

What are the costa owners doing - Sell or hold?

If you don't have Kane or Kun and can afford that swap I'd sell

      Otherwise it's more difficult

...get GW rank 220 or better.

Or just beat his average over the rest of the season (for a less sarcastic answer)
