Tuesday Player Picks

Fixtures
Arsenal v Bayern
Napoli v Real Madrid

Manuel Neuer – Bayern – $5,000 – G
The Bayern keeper may be pricey pick but it’s fair to say that Arsenal will need to carry the match to their visitors following a chastening 5-1 first-leg loss at the Allianz Arena.

Such a scenario should, at least, produce save points for Neuer, who has a healthy 11.4 Fantasy Points Per Game (FPPG) over nine DraftKings outings. The weekend shutout against Koln in the Bundesliga makes it 17 clean sheets in 34 appearances this campaign.

Marcelo – Real Madrid – $4,900 – D
Over his last trio of La Liga appearances, the raiding right-back has delivered 29 crosses (worth 0.75 points each in DraftKings), a pair of assists and five attempts on goal, earning 15.3 FPPG.

Madrid have kept just a single clean sheet in the five league matches since facing Napoli, hinting that attacking returns need to be targeted if opting for a Real Madrid defender. Marcelo was rested for the 4-1 win at Eibar over the weekend so should be refreshed for the trip to the San Paolo.

Thiago Alcantara – Bayern – $5,600 – M
The Spaniard was the standout performer from Bayern’s first-leg rout, delivering two goals and an assist on his way to a 36-point haul.

This time around, it’s Thiago’s defensive contribution that has caught our eye – with Arsenal desperate to attack, we reckon his ball-winning abilities in the centre of the park will be key to launching Bayern’s quick counters. A total of 50 tackles (+ 1 point) and 81 interceptions (+0.5 points) is more than any team-mate in the Bundesliga this season.

DK1

Dries Mertens – Napoli – $7,500 – M/F
The Belgian fired both goals in a 2-1 victory over Roma at the weekend, underlining his importance to Napoli’s cause.

Mertens has produced 18 goals and seven assists across 24 Serie A appearances in a hugely impressive season and has also served up four goals and as many assists over the Champions League group stages.

If the Serie A side are to overturn a 3-1 deficit in front of their own supporters, Mertens’ contribution looks vital against a Madrid defence that’s shipped six goals in their last three matches.

Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal – $7,900 – M/F
Benched for the weekend loss at Liverpool, the Chilean will surely return to Arsene Wenger’s teamsheet as the Gunners attempt to claw back that four-goal deficit at home to Bayern.

Sanchez’ average of 15.5 FPPG is far and away the best on offer for the north London side – a total of 22 goal and 14 assists across all competitions indicates that, if Arsenal are to make any leeway tomorrow night, we can rely on Alexis.

Wednesday Player Picks

Fixtures
Dortmund v Benfica
Barcelona v Paris

Ederson Moraes – Benfica – $3,800 – G
We tipped the Brazilian in the opening encounter with Dortmund and he duly delivered – preserving a clean sheet to secure a 1-0 win and score 24 points (keepers in DraftKings benefit from a +5 point win bonus).

Benfica will be under pressure from kick-off in Germany and if Moraes repeats those first-leg endeavours (his five saves kept them in the tie), a budget price tag should represent value even in defeat.

Lukasz Piszczek – Dortmund – $4,400 – D
A goal and pair of assists in the recent 3-0 win over Wolfsburg is indicative of the left-back’s value for money.

Another assist in the following home match – a 6-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday – has further boosted Piszczek’s prospects ahead a home encounter with Benfica. Dortmund should be dominant against their Portuguese opponents, which should allow the Polish international leeway to raid forward.

If you can afford the extra outlay, his team-mate Raphael Guerreiro ($5,200) is worth considering, with an 11.8 FPPG over seven European matches. Playing out of position in midfield, he’s scored twice and provided a fifth assist of the season over his last three Bundesliga outings.

Ivan Rakitic – Barcelona – $5,700 – M
Barcelona have it all to do after suffering a 4-0 defeat in the first leg, with their front trio all likely to see heavy investment.

Rakitic, however, offers a budget route into an attack that will be going all out to claw back some respect at the very least. Although he’s yet to score in Europe this term, three goals in his last four La Liga starts suggests that the Croatian should comfortably better his 7.7 FPPG on Wednesday evening.

DK2

Ousmane Dembele – Dortmund – $7,700 – M/F
The Frenchman has provided attacking returns in four of his last five home league matches, which includes a goal and assist combination against both Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen in Dortmund’s last two at the Signal Iduna Park.

A 12.1 FPPG in the Champions League, comprising of a goal and five assists over the group stages, showcases his potential. Saturday’s 6-2 victory over fellow Champions League competitors Leverkusen boosts Dortmund’s momentum as they look to overcome that one-goal reverse against Benfica.

Edison Cavani– Paris Saint Germain – $6,700 – F
Rather than put their fate in Barca’s hands, Umai Emery will be eager for his side to notch an away goal and put the tie beyond doubt.

Having already scored in the first-leg rout, Cavani’s record this season suggests that he could offer excellent value for money at the Nou Camp.

A weekend penalty against Nancy took his tally to 27 goals in 26 Ligue 1 appearances, while that consistency is echoed in the Champions League, with seven goals in as many matches.

Tinkering my FPL team seems to be of no use whatsoever... I was top of my ML, running against two casuals who take rather many hits and play the game week by week (they don't make long-term plans, basically just focus on the game week at hand and take hits to field the best 11 for that week, and the same goes on and on)... So I thought me being prepared for GWs 26-28 and being top of my ML was a great thing...

Well, now I'm second in my ML, a guy who took -16 point hit this week surpassed me... I had planned that "Ibra for GW27" well in advance, and was going in with a lot of confidence... Well you know what happened... Oh, and not to forget, my rival of course had Boruc...

My rival had Kane and Costa... Oh dear... I sold Alli for Sterling, my rival sold Eriksen for Sterling (we both had Eriksen and Alli).... Last night it was my Alonso against his Costa.... Look how that worked out! And of course Costa gets 3 bonus too!! I just sold Costa for Aguero....

In GW26 my rival capped Kane, I didn't buy him in because of the blank in GW28.... In GWs 26-27 Kane had 5 goals and assist... Lesson: No reason to plan for blanks, just buy in the best players!!!

I know this game is all about luck but I feel like a moron after every single game week these days... Hindsight is easy, I know, but still....

It's not just luck time and effort play off long term. I had big lead in Public ML and got taken over a few weeks ago, no fear by end of this GW will be back on top after Kun rocks the TC today 🙂

It is like poker. You have the edge in skill but the cards still come up for the lucky.
Regarding hits. I have played this game for a long time and hits can pay off if you are looking ahead. It has paid me well with tfr value to boot.
I would be interested in knowing what chips they played.

The guy top of our work ML pays no real attention has been top 10k most of the season...

This week he had no idea about Man City DGW and has Sanchez (c), somehow is getting Stones off his bench as third sub.

I think of myself as a veteran and am currently languishing around 800k.

Sometimes you just have to laugh!

I find the term casual offensives to Casuals! Just because they do not study the game as much as say you, does that mean they do not deserve to make good transfers either along with any luck involved to? For all those people that call out casuals and are currently getting beat by these casuals, surely over the season your careful planning and more considerate transfers will let you overtake them, otherwise it may be best to criticise your own performance?
I am currently 670 in the world, i have had a few top 10k finishes in the past but also some high 500k plus finishes. Everytime i have done badly it has been down to my poor descisions, not the luck of a casual player!

I have some real sympathy for you...

I am top in my ML's but one.

The one I'm second in is just the luckiest person ever...

He brings in Llorente this week, he has captained Zaha when he scores one of his few goals, brings in Lovren and gets an assist...

This guy brought in Hernandez last week, before that Carroll even though he was flagged... and now Llorente... It is just taking the biscuit.

I have TC Aguero so if he does the business I will be right on him but it is starting to become a joke!!!

Would you get Kane before GW29 for a hit or play Aguero against Lpool?

I did Ibra + Kun > Gab + Kane for a hit this week... Figured since many are going to have a bad week I might as well take the hit now rather than later...

    Eriksen -> Mane
    Kun -> Lukaku
    Negredo -> Carroll/Llorente (-8)

    Good moves?

2 and 3 look good. Not sure on 1 - I want to double up on pool and Spurs attack going forward anyone else you can lose to get Mane?

Sanchez, but don't want to get rid of him regardless of Pool game saga. Too explosive. Looking to get Kane in GW31.

Folks, this is how I am lined up this week...

    No GK
    Baines Brunt
    Phillips Mane Siggy
    Llorente Lukaku Carroll

Grant Pickford Cedric Eriksen Allen Friend PvA

    -4 and 10.5 ITB.

Anything worth another -4 (or 8)? Assuming Carroll and Phillips both play. PvA and Allen need to go anyway but is it worth shifting them this week or wait until next?

Maybe another pool mid for this week for Allen if that still need enough cash for Kane week after.

Yeah it still leaves plenty to upgrade Carroll to Kane. I'm just thinking Pool might struggle this week (as they do) against poor opponents and I'd probably get rid the following week when they have City anyway.

Yeah I also can't decide if I will take a second hit for Sane to Mane. But the pool fixtures after city are very good.

After City they are great, on paper. I just feel this is the week to take a -8 (or 12) to sort my team out considering how many people are taking hits and looking at long term for the most part.

Maybe some big discussion concering West Ham mids ? They have nice fixtures and playing pretty good now so who is the best option ? Should we go for Antonio again or trust Lanzini ?

I'm thinking Phillips -> Antonio next GW, as a differential to my ML rivals Lanzini.

Hadn't noticed that run of fixtures.

Lanzini has to be the pick on current form.

Lanzini is very tempting - stats and form on the other hand Antonio proved some consistency this season.

Now Antonio and Carroll are both available, where will Lanzini play? Will they revert back to 442 or will he just play the same formation with Lanzini as the number 10 and Antonio on the right?
