We’re left punctured and deflated like that old plastic ball you used to kick over the fence into the neighbour’s garden.

That neighbour is Pep Guardiola, who appears to take great pleasure in putting his big teamsheet tinkering garden fork through our bouncy double Gameweek dreams.

Recorded in the dying stages of Manchester City’s non-event clash against a stubborn Stoke, Jonty, Andy and myself are left rather flat during this episode of the ScoutCast.

Even the most imaginative accountant couldn’t hide the fact that, after transfer hits aplenty and having witnessed Messrs Kane, Costa, Hazard and Lukaku grab hauls, all three of us depart Gameweek 27 in the red.

Gathering ourselves after that disappointment, and steered by your questions, we nonetheless press on to offer our latest musings on the minefield of blanks presented by Gameweek 28, while checking in on Sanchez’ fading star and third striker options.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or take in the full visual experience, pastry and all, via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

With Phillips out I'm down to 10 players again. Still have faith that I can find a new mid who'll score this week though. Another transfer would bring me up to -12, is Phillips out for Lanzini/Coutinho/Firmino worth it?

Hell yeah - doesn't matter how many hits you have taken already (see WR's hot topic) - get a Liverpool MF in.

Good shout, I really like the look of Coutinho. Topping the goals imminent table and has the most shots in the box of any midfielder for the past four gameweeks.

    Bottomed...

Where would you start with this lot? I prefer the team on the bench/not playing and don't want to change that much... grrrr

Stanislas and Amat are basically dead too...

    Foster
    Funes Mori/ (Amat)/ ____
    Siggy/ Fletcher/ King/ (Stan)/ ___
    Lukaku/ ___/ ____

    Subs - Pick
    Alsonso/Pieters/Walker
    Sanchez
    Aguero/Costa

    £0.5ITB

Where to start? Amat ----> Mawson a bit sideways? Get a liverpool Mid for Snachez? Stan to someone? T Davies?

This is a very basic and lazy analysis of what will probably be alot more complex than this, but Mane won't be well served playing against Burnley notoriously sitting really deep. His recent successes (and the majority of his successes in general in this Liverpool team) have come against teams who want to come out and play the game too, leaving space in behind. While Liverpool will surely score at least once against Burnley I think it may be somewhat of a case of the Liverpool lottery here. Lukaku for me.

Well Burnley still manage to concede 3 or more goals every away game so shouldnt be much of an issue

    (Grant Pickford)
    Baines Brunt Robertson (Pieters Lenihan)
    Mane Siggy Phillips Fletcher (Sterling)
    Lukaku (Kun Kane)

Have used my FT on Lukaku to give me the above 7 (thanks Phillips). Which should I do for a further hit?

    a) Sterling > Firmino (-4)
    b) Sterling > Countinho (-4)
    c) Sterling & Phillips > Coutinho & Lanzini (-8)
    d) Sterling & Phillips > Firmino & King (-8)
    e) Sterling & Phillips > Firmino & Grosicki (-8)

Already did Ibra, Sterling and Sane out for Carroll, Siggy and Mane for -8.
But now Phillips is ruled out. Take another hit for Coutinho? Or just field 9 players?
I'm quite tempted to take the hit as my season (750k) is already over anyway.

with phillips out, i've only got 5 or 6 players, depending if Amat plays. Already taken a hit to get Kane in my team. Is it worth doing another transfer to replace Phillips? Who for?

Still torn on Firm or Cout, Cout's stats are strong but he does like to shoot from anywhere so can be misleading. Firm also back in his favoured position as the central attacker... anyone have any prevailing wisdom?

What do you prefer ladies? Been dwelling on this for a while no. No compelling reason to swing either side.

    Jaku
    Coleman Evans (Pieters Alonso Lenihan)
    Firmino Mane Siggy (Sterling Sane)
    Lukaku Barnes (Aguero)

    0FT

    A) Aguero + Sterling -> Antonio/Cout + Llorente (future moves -> Barnes -> Kane)

    B) Sterling + Sane -> Antonio/Cout + King (future moves -> Kaku/kun + barnes -> gabbi + kane)

Starting to think a -8 or even a -12 (really like a -4 or -6 if you consider that you'll get a guaranteed 0 otherwise) could be worth a punt BUT only on seasoned big hitters who we know have double digit scores in their locker. Really don't see the point in taking hits for the likes of Cargill, Robertson, Grosicki, etc.
