As anticipated, Gameweek 30 is already an edgy affair.

With so much uncertainty surrounding the Fantasy Premier League captaincy decision, we’ve already seen the “big two” put in their shifts and ultimately disappoint.

Backed by 14.5% and 13.5% respectively, Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku both endured frustrating afternoons, although their efforts, at least statistically, were worlds apart.

Costa shook off concerns surrounding his fitness to take on Palace and predictably earned the top billing for armband, nudging out Lukaku by just over 40,000 managers.

But, having failed to produce double-figures at Stamford Bridge all season, Costa again huffed and puffed without impact. A staggering nine attempts on goal, all from inside the box, were repelled by a determined Eagles rearguard.

A booking meant that the Spaniard has produced back-to-back single point returns, while his dry spell now means he’s provided just two goals from his last seven Gameweeks.

With Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic now back from his suspension, that kind of output will surely lead to further ownership losses; Costa shed 55,000+ FPL managers heading into Gameweek 30.

The Chelsea man is already the third most sold asset since today’s deadline, as one of only two non-flagged players in the top eight being jettisoned.

The other is Lukaku.

While Costa did at least show willing in the defeat to Palace, Everton’s talisman made little impression in the earlier Merseyside derby.

While the two-point return represented his first blank in five Gameweeks, Lukaku failed to muster a single effort on goal. Over his two matches with Liverpool, he’s produced just one shot in total.

Significantly perhaps, the only other two matches in which he’s failed to register a shot on goal were against Chelsea in Gameweek 11 and Manchester United in Gameweek 14, suggesting that Lukaku is still struggling to make an impression on the big stage.

Tuesday’s trip to Old Trafford will be key, then, with the Belgian also under increased pressure now that Ibrahimovic is back in the equation, with a trip to Sunderland and a double Gameweek 34 beckoning.

While we consider our future approach up front, the issue of the Gameweek 30 captaincy remains unsettled.

Jamie Vardy and Eden Hazard also made their contributions today, with the Leicester City striker’s goal, his fourth in as many Gameweeks, offering a seven-point reward.

Certainly handy, but perhaps not the haul expected by the 197,000 who brought him in, particularly for those who may have spent a four-point hit alongside their sale of Seamus Coleman.

It remains to be seen if the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Sergio Aguero and Gylfi Sigurdsson can produce a genuinely big return to help their backers steal a march.

Sanchez and Aguero will square off at the Emirates wearing the armband for 5.7% and 8.8% respectively.

Prior to that, Gylfi Sigurdsson will make his pitch. He claimed just over 62,000 backers or 1.4%, although interestingly, twenty of the top 100 FPL managers opted for the Swans playmaker, making him the top choice among that elite group.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Carroll, Barnes or Deeney as a third striker?
I'm leaning towards Carroll, I would go to Gabbiadini instantly but it looks like he won't be fit.

Gabbiadini long term - how long you need them fit for? Andy Carroll has a great record against Arsenal and plays them this week

Well, I had rondon for around 10 weeks of 1-2 pointers.

Switched for deeney 2 weeks ago...0 (due to OG) and 0 (due to 0 mins)! Must be coincidence.

Also have Carroll who has ticked along nicely. Whilst fit I think he's a good shout at his price.

Sort of fixture proof due to his set piece threat. Of course, risk of injury is the problem but it keeps it interesting!

Origi should be getting some minutes if you want a (big) punt. Can't be any worse than my Rondon/Deeney returns!

Need some advice. Think I need Ibra in, then wondering where to downgrade elsewhere. Koscielny to Boro def perhaps?

Value is £103.7m, so not massively high.

Coin toss between Costa and Lukaku. Leaning towards Lukaku as he looked awful yesterday

Of those 2 I'd ditch Costa but I know what you mean about Lukaku.

I was all set to ditch him for Vardy last night, but was reminded that his fixtures after Man Utd are still tasty. Plus, the Coleman lesson about not making transfers too early served as a restraint.

Mané's drop in price now means I can't do Mané and Lukaku to Alexis and Vardy, but so be it.

Ok let's try it this way.

Who do we think scores more points over next 2 games in order?

    A) Kun (che, HUL)
    B) Ibra (EVE, sun)
    C) Vardy (SUN, eve)
    D) Sterling (che, HUL)
    E) Zaha (sou,ARS)

      Very hard to say.

I do know that if I was chasing a mini league lead then Kun (c) would be my plan to get back in it.

Hull at home could be a massacre.

I don't really see any better defensive options and Chelsea still has a DGW.

I understand going cheap in defence to beef up your attacking players, though. Personally speaking, I'm keeping him in my team, but that's just my own decision.

Difficulty is that many got him for less than he is now.

He could easily make up for the 2 pointers with a 15 pointer and he has a DGW at some point.

I'm wary of Palace. Their schedule the rest of the way is still tricky.

They got lucky yesterday, but not sure there's going to be a lot of returns going forward, especially as they're playing loads of teams that still need to win to get into the Champions League places!

Getting Alexis in goes without saying, but wait till after today's games are finished first.

May have been lucky against Chelsea but even getting close to them shows that their confidence is high. Five wins in a row as well. Zahais a good price to reallocate funds elsewhere with not too much risk.

Mane&Kun -->Sanchez&Ibra? I dont know if i want Ibra at all, United is soo poor. But I can`t get Sanchez otherwise.

      Or

Who to get rid of to afford Mane -》Sanchez?

      A) aguero
      B) Lukaku
      C) Costa

      Who to get?

      1) Origi
      2) Benteke
      3) Negredo
      4) Other?

Aguero to Ibra if you've not done that yet.

Costa would be the one you want to get rid of...horrible fixtures, not playing great. But not many sub-10m strikers to nove to to free up funds...only really Gabbiadini, when fit.

How about Origi instead of Ibra?

            8 games left vs. 10.

            Will rotate in/out in all likelihood...Ibra won't rotate...had a nice little rest.

Not gonna be involved in every Liverpool attack...spoils will be shared out among all the Liverpool mids...as opposed to Ibra who's involved in virtually all Utd. goals, whether scoring or assisting.

For one Ibra is a must imo. Also Origi is average at best.

      B) rival = Sane + 7 points

      A) Mané to Hazard for free (and keep Andy Carroll)

      B) Mané and Carroll to Zaha and Ibra for -4 ????

Don't have any Chelsea or United attacking coverage atm

I know this is desperation due to having Robertson 1st sub, but on premier league fpl app, Siggy is in red. Nothing elsewhere. Lol

        Gw31 to 33 - Aguero or Ibra?

Thinking to only get ibra in for gw34..

I'm thinking of waiting until GW34 for Ibra, he has the better fixture in midweek but I prefer Aguero for the 2GWs before the double (HUL,sou).

Yes. He is likely to be out for rest of season
