As anticipated, Gameweek 30 is already an edgy affair.

With so much uncertainty surrounding the Fantasy Premier League captaincy decision, we’ve already seen the “big two” put in their shifts and ultimately disappoint.

Backed by 14.5% and 13.5% respectively, Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku both endured frustrating afternoons, although their efforts, at least statistically, were worlds apart.

Costa shook off concerns surrounding his fitness to take on Palace and predictably earned the top billing for armband, nudging out Lukaku by just over 40,000 managers.

But, having failed to produce double-figures at Stamford Bridge all season, Costa again huffed and puffed without impact. A staggering nine attempts on goal, all from inside the box, were repelled by a determined Eagles rearguard.

A booking meant that the Spaniard has produced back-to-back single point returns, while his dry spell now means he’s provided just two goals from his last seven Gameweeks.

With Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic now back from his suspension, that kind of output will surely lead to further ownership losses; Costa shed 55,000+ FPL managers heading into Gameweek 30.

The Chelsea man is already the third most sold asset since today’s deadline, as one of only two non-flagged players in the top eight being jettisoned.

The other is Lukaku.

While Costa did at least show willing in the defeat to Palace, Everton’s talisman made little impression in the earlier Merseyside derby.

While the two-point return represented his first blank in five Gameweeks, Lukaku failed to muster a single effort on goal. Over his two matches with Liverpool, he’s produced just one shot in total.

Significantly perhaps, the only other two matches in which he’s failed to register a shot on goal were against Chelsea in Gameweek 11 and Manchester United in Gameweek 14, suggesting that Lukaku is still struggling to make an impression on the big stage.

Tuesday’s trip to Old Trafford will be key, then, with the Belgian also under increased pressure now that Ibrahimovic is back in the equation, with a trip to Sunderland and a double Gameweek 34 beckoning.

While we consider our future approach up front, the issue of the Gameweek 30 captaincy remains unsettled.

Jamie Vardy and Eden Hazard also made their contributions today, with the Leicester City striker’s goal, his fourth in as many Gameweeks, offering a seven-point reward.

Certainly handy, but perhaps not the haul expected by the 197,000 who brought him in, particularly for those who may have spent a four-point hit alongside their sale of Seamus Coleman.

It remains to be seen if the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Sergio Aguero and Gylfi Sigurdsson can produce a genuinely big return to help their backers steal a march.

Sanchez and Aguero will square off at the Emirates wearing the armband for 5.7% and 8.8% respectively.

Prior to that, Gylfi Sigurdsson will make his pitch. He claimed just over 62,000 backers or 1.4%, although interestingly, twenty of the top 100 FPL managers opted for the Swans playmaker, making him the top choice among that elite group.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Had a punt a few weeks ago on Grosicki. Was leaning on removing him after he started on the bench the last two GWs. Trashed by Everton (0-4) and then yesterday he came on during half-time and Hull won 2-1 with his 2 assists. Should I keep him for the run in?

Hull have a nice run in, but only 8 games.

Conversion to a Southampton, Arsenal or Utd. mid might be better, with 10 games to go at...one of:
      - Tadic
      - Redmond
      - JWP
      - Walcott
      - Lingard (maybe)

      ...not sure of your fundage

Was thinking of JWP, he costs 0.5 less than Grosicki. Hmm will have to evaluate later when Soton's doubles are announced.

YMA's weekly captaincy article also contains clean sheet predictions (which is the most accurate bit of the prediction IMO). GW30 predicted the Top 5 as follows:

    1. Chelsea
    2. Manchester United
    3. Tottenham
    4. Leicester
    5. Southampton

4 of those 5 kept a clean sheet.

For the next game week I was thinking of the following changes:
    0.2 in bank currently.
    Mane to Coutinho
    Lukaku to Ibra

Any advice would be helpful. Also conscious my bench (excluding Foster) is about as good as my local pub football team so I need to improve before using bench boost.

    My team
    Heaton (Foster)

    Alonso McAuley Valencia (Amat) (Friend)

    Sanchez Sigurdson Mane Ali (Capoue)

    Lukaku Llorente Carroll

Everton defence as a whole could suffer missing coleman and valencia.

They was far from impressive yesterday in what was their biggest match of the year. A win would have catapulted them up to liverpool.

Tbf palace defend so deep that every time he shot he was under pressure almost. I didn't see too many big chances and I don't think I'll be backing a cap against that palace defence unless the player has a double gw. Costa never looked like scoring from what I saw.

I remember seeing one header that he definitely should have scored!

Yeah that was his best chance I sold say alright but he mucked it up, nitty like the keeper had to make an unbelievable save our anything.
I think he was probably the best captain coffee this week if you had him but that palace defence is a bit like Burnley now and I wouldn't like to be backing against it.

    Good morning

    Here is my team:
    Jaku, Hennessey
    Alonso, McAuley, Robertson, Valencia, Pieters
    Coutinho, Siggy, Antonio, Phillips, Davies
    Costa, Aguero, Lukaku

Any suggestions for the upcoming game week(s)?

      Antonio injured?

I'd say remove him. Although I'm a noob this season, so don't put too much weight on my opinion.

Maybe try to get sanchez in for antonio by downgrading costa?

High ownership team - won't go too wrong with this:

    De Gea - Jakupovic
    McAuley - Luiz - Williams - Stones - Vertonghen
    Sanchez - Alli - Coutinho - Sigurdsson - King
    Lukaku - Costa - Barnes

Too many "unbenchable" defenders...benching headache every week.

Downgrade Williams to a cheapie, and probably Stones to Valencia.

Front-line will likely want to to be changing to take advantage of DGWs...planning on getting Ibra or Kane?

More a question of playing the 'ownership' tactic. Then just make transfers to maintain high ownership.

Hey guys, just wondering what to do with this team:
Mane -> Sanchez will leave me with 0.2itb, but anything else with other transfer?
    Heaton
    Cahill / Valencia / Baines
    Mane / King / Lanzini / Alli / Siggy
    Costa / Lukaku

    Jaku / Brunt / Crouch / Friend
    2ft 2.3itb

Need sanchez. Which would you sacrifice!!

Siggy (decent but someone has to make way)
Pedro ( I suspect chelsea will kick and this man to play a part, also dgw)
King (great value, rotten short term fixtures, but nice run in thereafter)

All the above have 3 tricky fixtures between now and end of season but siggy king and pedro have one next week.

Note: Siggy & Pedro out would make it easier to get ibra or kane in time.

Also: Swapping king for sanchez will mean doing Llorente to barnes to fund an ibra or kane move in time.

King to sanchez also rules out Llorente to Gabbi whereas Siggy/Pedro leaves enough for Llorente to Gabbi and either one of kane/ibra in time.

    Have 1 FT.

    Help please

      Reluctantly Siggy.

Stuck in the same position as you have to sell one of Siggy/Alli/Eriksen/Coutinho for Sanchez.

      Thanks guys.

I was edging towards siggy but then thought I was mad. I am sure siggy will give me food for thought later.
