Update Four is now live, introducing heatmaps as a major new feature, along with another round of tweaks and improvements.

Once again Matz1lla has done us proud with his efforts, as we continue to work at enhancing the site and tools on offer.

Here’s what’s included in this update:

Team and Player Heatmaps
As mentioned in our preview article, we’ve tried to go the extra mile with our heatmaps feature.

I always wanted to ensure that, when these were included in our members’ area, they would work with the ability to slice the Opta data by intervals – eg Gameweeks, matches, home and away etc.

Implemented in this way, they suddenly become more effective as a method of analysing player and team performance, not just in a single match, but in a group of fixtures or over the entire season.

So heatmaps can now be found in player and team profiles and in the player and team comparison tools.

You can also get them in the match dashboard, to view traditional team or single player maps for a particular fixture.

We’ve added maps for the following statistics:

Touches
Passes Received
Shots
Chances Created
Recoveries
Challenges Lost
Successful Take ons
Failed Take ons
Goal Attempts Conceded (teams only)
Chances Created Conceded (teams only)
Fouls Conceded (teams only)

Hazard vs Pedro – Touches – 2016/17 All Matches
members

The preview movie below shows the heatmaps in action and the options and possibilities available.

Heatmaps Preview Movie

If you’ve any feedback on the maps or have any requests on other statistics you would like to see mapped, please get in touch via support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

Bonus Points System additions
Having added the Baseline Bonus Points System statistics in Update Three, we’ve tweaked this further and implemented the statistics to both the player profiles and player comparison tools.

Baseline BPS is now included as a key statistic when comparing players.

Fantasy Goal Involvement
We’ve always included the goal involvement statistic.

This measured a player’s contribution in terms of goals scored or assisted as a percentage of his team’s goals scored when he was on the pitch.

We’ve now expanded this to offer a new statistic, which takes into account Fantasy assists. This is now found on the player statistic Involvement tables.

What’s coming next?
We’re looking to add Fantasy Premier League prices to our database in order to surface these in our profiles and player tables. The aim is to introduce the ability to filter tables by these prices.

We will then move to include Sky Sports prices in their tables and also build Yahoo Daily Fantasy tables, which will hopefully include player prices for the forthcoming contests.

Expected goals remains a background task as we continue to research and explore options for our model.

Once the season begins, we will also start to address improvements away from the Members’ area and, in particular, look at our HomeCrowd comments system.

You can see our current task list and track our progress through the next update via this roadmap.

You can also send your feedback and requests to me at mark@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

Our previous updates are detailed here, here and here.

A reminder that, if you want access to this forthcoming update and other future additions to the members’ area, you can sign up for the new campaign now for our pre-season price of £12.50 (RRP £15.00).

Existing registered users can upgrade via this link. New users, who are yet to get a registered account, can sign up via this link.

If you’re new to the benefits of Fantasy Football Scout membership, you can get full details, along with a series of movies previewing the content, via this page.

Due to the new site additions, if you encounter any loading issues with the images in comparison tool, we advise clearing the browser cache (shift and F5) to resolve this.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

You reckon he's a wait and see then? He's more for the attacking threat but maybe that goes against the first tactic around FPL defence - clean sheets first

          Arsenal are leaky.
He's a complete unknown in PL.
We don't know exactly how he'll fit in Wenger's plans.
          Absolutely clean sheets first.
There are other defenders for the same price who are way better value.
There are other defenders for the same price we know more about.

Alexandre Lacazette. However people seem to think that lacazette may struggle to adapt and won't be as prolifc as he was against France's 'weaker teams'.

let's analyse how other players who have taken such a jump have fared in terms of goals

    ----------------------------------------------------------

    1) Koscielny - Lorient to Arsenal

    2009/10 - 3 goals (ligue 1)
    2001/11 - 2 goals (Premier League)

As you can see by this stat koscielny only managed one less goal albeit playing 5 less games. Lacazette will be joining the same team Koscielny himself joined meaning we can expect similar results in terms of goals. Lacazette who scored 28 league goals last season may score 25/26 this time round. However he will be playing up front which is certainly advantageous

    2) Cabaye - Lillie to Newcastle united

    2010/11 - 2 goals (ligue 1)
    2011/12 - 4 goals (Premier league)
    2012/13 - 6 goals (Premier league)

As you can see Cabaye who usually struggled for goals doubled his no. of goals after moving to the prem and TRIPLED it the season after. it's unlikely to expect lacazette to score 56 goals but lacazette may achieve 30+ based on this.

    3) Lloris - Lyon to Tottenham Hotspur

    2012/13 - 0 goals (ligue 1)
    2013/14 - 0 goals (Premier league)

With lloris, movement to prem had no impact on number of goals.

Based off this evidence i fully expect Lacazette to match or exceed his 28 goals scored in ligue 1 last season.

        • 10 Years

Koscielny scored one less goal so lacazette maybe scores 2 or 3 less goals due to of course the fact that lacazette scores a higher volume

Can we see some original RMT's. has anyone managed 5x big hitters (or 6!) with a good defence, or a back 5 of all wing backs to make 0-7-3 etc.

I actually really like that.....half template though with highly owned players like Lukaku, Salah, Kane, Trippier..

Some good diffs to balance it out though.

Very balanced - this former elite player rates it...make of that what you will 😉

The winner last year never had a liverpool mid all season. Dont think any team is essential. City will share the goals about i reckon. Kdb got 21 assists last season but still failrd to get 200 points. Goal scoring mids are where its at.

Plus the players i picked are ones I like whether they are highly owned or no alot of people here are just picking players because others are. Examples RLC and Cedric.

199 points - so Kevin as not far off.

But yep you are right - with so much premium priced talent it is possible to swerve a team entirely as there are plenty of other high scorers around.

I'm wondering if Spurs may be a team that can be avoided this season. A situation to monitor, especially as they are so pricey.

Does anyone think that Bats is a viable choice? He has played well in pre season and it looks as if Conte may go with him and Morata-at least until Hazard is back

Yep...I like defenders that offer the prospect of CS and attacking threat and he's been doing well pre season.

All hinges on that wing back system. If so he's nailed by default - they only have three centre backs.

If Pep goes four t the back though he could be duking it out with one of Otamendi or Kompany.

I'm taking the plunge myself....hoping he can rack up a few double digit returns for me.

for all the non city fans saying ' city have no backup if they play 3 at the back and someone gets injured'

Danilo is the backup he's a squad player who can play as a right back or a centre back.
