Doosra... I know you prefer Coutinho to Salah. Would you mind telling me why? I will bring one or other in this week and on the stats I really can't separate them by much, if anything Salah might be slightly ahead (although it depends what period you look at).
There's little doubt (I think) that Coutinho is a better footballer. But is he clearly a better FPL asset? Any comments much appreciated in advance.
Salah is ahead - THIS WEEK - mostly, he's not.
Coutinho's on some corners. Salah is not a good shotmaker, however many he strikes, and unlike Sánchez, is not positionally good enough to make his shots count. That is why his shots are high, but his goals are where they are.
Also, Coutinho, like another midfielder I own, is preternaturally accurate. 🙂

I know very well how poor a finisher Salah is, I watched him play at Chelsea (though he has evidently improved a bit since then). But the volume of opportunities he gets kind of compensates I think.
I feel like Coutinho is the sophisticated pick. But this might be a time when it's better to go with crude effectiveness. 🙄
The fact that Salah may be on pens also helps his cause. FFS says he is but I won't be confident of that until I see it happen.

Depends whether you want the strongest possible 5 midfielders irrespective of the effect on the rest of the team, or the best midfield within an ideal balanced formation.
I am currently playing 3 in midfield (Sterling, Eriksen and Doucoure), but 4 would probably be better.

Don't fancy a 5 man midfield since I kinda rate Kane + 2 of Aguero Morata Lukaku up front. Salah and Richarlison in midfield are nailed for me. Dilva/Eriksen + Gross/Moting for the 2 other spots looks fine

Can't believe the arrogance of Giggs thinking that he should be able to walk straight into a PL managerial post. Surely he needs to cut his teeth in the lower leagues first.
I know it's not FPL related, but agree 100%. Even if not the lower leagues, then an assistant manager/coaching role or even taking charge of the U-23s for example rather than sitting out waiting for his "name" to land him a role.
He did learn under LVG for two years, which is a nice resume builder, but ever since then he has had no continuity.

That is a false analogy, cycling is purely a physical sport where the use of drugs makes much more difference than in football. You can't drug enhance talent.

speed is relative. drugs can make you sustain a certain speed for longer periods. therefore it can make you faster. whether it's 100m a la ben Johnson or the marathon. if you cross that line in a faster time than you could without the drugs then it's made you faster.

Alonso scored 177 points in 27 (ish) games last year. He has proven his quality. Chelsea have had a lot of injuries/suspension (in the back line especially). Once they get there full team together the point will come in for Alonso. Thats just my thoughts.

Good example is I could've got Agüero in last night with 2FTs and the logged in to find I've got a new flag in my squad. I didn't do the move and now I've a flagged player I would've need to sort with a hit or play the utter shite off the bench.

Yeah guess that is the argument against early transfers. The main thing would be to take advantage of the thurs/fri price rises if you wanted to stay safer then.
Getting in season keepers before they get more expensive is the most important important part of building team value. I'm very happy to only have used 5.0 on Jones, 8.1 on Silva and 12.5 on Kane, but for a lot of the other players I have no use of them going up 0.1 or even 0.2 and 0.3 in terms of team value.
But surely the keepers are ones you arnt too worried if they go up as you are planning to keep hold of them anyway. Its the players that you plan to keep for 4/5 weeks which go up 0.2 and allow you to spend extra 0.1s on replacements. Over a season they add up.
If you want Elliot, Otamendi, Jones, Silva, Richarlison, Kane and Morata in your team right now, that will cost you £2.3m compared to the start of the season. Most people have a team value way below £102.3m. That's why the 0.1 here and there is useless in comparison to joining in on the season keepers early.
Those non-season-keepers are the ones you want to gain value in order to sell for profits. It's all about getting on players at the right time and selling high (sound a but like a trader, here). So the odd 0.2 really does make a difference over the season
Also avoiding price drops are key. 0.1 loss = 0.1 loss however 0.1 gain = 0 gain
Squad value is overrated. I try to avoid early transfers, try not to take hits, wait to see who's injured and who's likely to play. To me, that extra information is worth more than having a couple extra mil to splash around at the end of the year.
Think about it this way: Just put together your ideal team, then find the one player you could safely downgrade, and downgrade him - instead of settling for lesser players in multiple positions. For instance, when the DGWs roll around and the people who have taken hits and made risky transfers all year to gain value have Sanchez, you have Ozil. The rest of your squad is the same as the other person, and Ozil - in a short stretch - could easily outscore Sanchez, and you haven't fretted about team value all year.

He’s had good returns but surely the wingbacks at Spurs are prone to rotation. Trippier/Aurier on the right, Davies/Rose on the left. If your fine with the rotation risk then go for it though, when he plays he’s capable of double digit returns.

Interesting question. Racing and Football Outlook have a rolling ratings system for home and away form but I am not entirely sure about the complexities of the algorithm they use. It tends to be very accurate. Previous seasons should obviously have some influence but even that is hard to quantify when teams have signed a lot of new players.
Very true, no Lukaku has pretty much killed Everton.
It's a bit like the HoF here where this season is the main HoF factor.
