After Eden Hazard failed to deliver in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Huddersfield, eight of the top ten captains in Fantasy Premier League are set to feature over this evening’s seven matches.

All eyes are on Harry Kane as Spurs welcome Brighton to Wembley Stadium – after a weekend home brace against Stoke, he’s the top armband pick for Gameweek 17, with 25.2% of managers handing him the captaincy – his biggest majority of the season so far.

Mohamed Salah is second only to Kane, with 17.8% backing after serving up seven sets of double-digits. Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino are also back on the Liverpool team-sheet, though, after featuring as subs against Everton.

The latter was second only to Kane for transfers in ahead of Tuesday’s deadline – over 197,000 acquired Firmino in the rush to replaced the stricken Alvaro Morata.

Romelu Lukaku, Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez will be hoping that history repeats itself this evening.

Lukaku is toiling for form right now, with a single goal in nine Gameweeks, but scored four at home to tonight’s visitors Bournemouth while at Everton last season.

Aguero, meanwhile, netted twice in Man City’s win at Swansea in 2016/17 – he returns to Pep Guardiola’s XI as Gabriel Jesus takes up bench-warming duties.

Sanchez heads to West Ham, where he ran riot on his way to three goals and an assist in the previous campaign.

Elsewhere, Charlie Austin and Dominic Calvert-Lewin were both subject to significant transfers in ahead of Gameweek 17, with 156,00+ and 172,000+ new owners respectively.

Both have the fixtures to strengthen their claims as budget third strikers.

Austin – with four goals in three starts – hosts a Leicester defence with one away shutout to their name.

Ranked top for points per million, Calvert-Lewin has a goal and three assists in the last four Gameweeks and visits a Newcastle defence that’s conceded an average of three goals per game over their previous five league fixtures.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Rooney. There's a massive bias against him but he's scored 9 goals now in a struggling Everton team.

5.3 though is mighty tempting, and a more suitable price for a third striker. Lewin plus 2.5M to spend elsewhere might be money better spent?

          5.3m for a non-scoring striker? I'd rather have Okazaki at 5.4m.

Many of us on here have been fooled into thinking that he's not a great option, not explosive etc. He's a fantastic option at his price and not nearly as prone to rotation as Sane & Sterling!

    Considering the following:

Mane, Richarlison, Quaner > Coutinho, Silva, DCL (-8)

Perhaps worth staggering over two GWs?

      I'm considering -8 to do
Mbemba Young Morata > long Silva Rooney

Will get me this team for the long run
      DDG Elliott
      Alonso Ota mee long Kenny
      Hazard Sterling Silva rlc salah
      Kane Rooney niasse

Feel it's worth the hit for the the weekends returns plus gives me better coverage for injuries

Quite happy with my defence now.

Yeah I meant the big Salah/Kane dilemma.

Aguero and Lukaku - well, 6 and 5 points respectively are hardly hauls. Only a couple of points better off than my Salah captain.

Saving, then will do three transfers for a -4 afterwards more than likely!
My squad is not in a happy place:
              Injury concerns: Ward, Morata, Rich
Want rid of: Niasse, Sane, Alli, Daniels

Yeah, similar position with Lowton and Richarlison injury doubts for me (and Mbemba permanently out of the team).

And I finally want Jesus out, and Daniels of course. Tricky. Might save only because I don't know what to do next!

Sane at least should start for you.

FPL is making me not enjoy watching football anymore. I think I'm going to cool down a bit from it all, ill still play and make transfers but I don't know if trying so hard to do well is helping.. Im currently 760K and I just keep spending so much time on decisions only for them to fail.

We've all been there. Try and get some perspective about the amount of luck involved and that will help your mood when it doesn't go well. You may still feel grumpy/angry for a little while but it should then pass.

Look at Foster this GW... CS and max bonus at Anfield. I'm sure there were thousands that transferred him out or benched him before that game.

      1. Qaiss
        • 10 Years
        8 years, 3 months ago

Put it like this. Every week I spend so much time trying to decide my captain. My highest points from a captain has been Kane at home to West Brom who got 8 points. I've played the game since 2009 and I feel like in recent years when I've been a 'casual', I not only enjoyed the game more but I made decisions and then didn't think about them until after the games. Now I spend so much time making decisions and if they don't go well, the disappointment is huge. This is why as I said I think it's best to cool down for a bit or maybe permanently for me as I don't think spending time making decisions is helping.

Thank you for your comment though and I definitely see where you're coming from.

The more time you invest, the more disappointment you'll feel when you don't get the rewards.

I'm not judging as I check this site most days. But when it stops being fun, then you (we) need to fill that time with something more productive and rewarding. You may even find your FPL performance improves because you'll go with your first instinct.

      Probably D given Watford's form/luck at the minute. I'd bench C though.

Currently benching Ogbonna. Tough call as you guys mention. Watford at home surely a good bet to keep a clean sheet I would have thought?

Fast, pick one before the price change, ty:

    A) Kane+Groß--->Rooney+Sanchez
    B) Azpi+Niasse--->Christen+Rooney

Bonus question: Would you do Azpi to Christensen for a hot this week to catch price rise ty:)
