The final round of festive fixtures comes to its conclusion at Wembley Stadium as Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham play the second match of their double Gameweek 22.

Much to our collective relief, Harry Kane returns to the hosts’ starting line-up after producing just a single point from his 22 minutes off the bench at Swansea on Tuesday night.

It’s fair to say that the Fantasy Premier League hopes of many managers rely on the Spurs striker this evening.

Not only is he the top captain pick for the Gameweek (24.2%), a hefty 121,000+ Triple Captain chips have been wielded on Kane in light of back-to-back hat-tricks in his previous two starts.

The allure of a double Gameweek has also boosted in interest in Spurs midfield trio Son Heung-min, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli. All three join Kane on the teamsheet and are also among the top 13 armband picks for Gameweek 22.

The top transfer target for Gameweek 22, with 498,000+ new owners, Son has scored in five of Tottenham’s last six at Wembley, totalling 57 points over those matches.

Eriksen and Alli, meanwhile, bagged an assist and goal respectively in Tuesday’s win at Swansea to continue their improved form.

The Dane has supplied points in six of his last seven outings, while Alli has two goals and four assists in his previous three.

At the back, Ben Davies earns successive starts for the first time since Gameweek 16 as Danny Rose misses out with a knee complaint again.

The big news for the Hammers is that Marko Arnautovic is sidelined with a minor hamstring problem.

Drafted in by over 368,000 for his pair of fixtures, he ends double Gameweek 22 on five points, having earned the assist for Andy Carroll’s late winner against West Brom.

Carroll’s two goals in the Baggies’ clash isn’t enough to keep his role in the XI, though – he drops to the bench as Chicharito leads the line instead.

The Mexican and Manuel Lanzini – who has supplied four assists in his previous five – carry the main threat to a defence that’s looking for their tenth clean sheet of the season.

Funny that the same people saying that the TC is overrated are now lolling at Kane TC. Seems like they've forgotten already that the Kane TC fail players will also capt their own TC player later

If people are keeping it to 'obvious' DGW options it's worth about 25 points max I'd say. Next year I might whack it on a SGW differential when their isn't an 'obvious' pick.

TC is definitely overrated! Its basically 1 extra player. BB is 4 extra players, FH the full whack.

Would obviously be disappointing getting 3 from your TC but its not the end of the world.

      1. Camp No No
        • 12 Years

BB is 4 extra players who you were not preferring to field. TC is 1 extra player you were going to captain.

I do like BB over TC too, but TC can be very effective if you play it right - and get lucky with it.

Not necessarily. Could be a gw where two big players have a great double and those without tc might suffer on the double or someone might use it on a hazard type gamble where those who have used their tc don't even have the player never mind captain them.

Depends on what is your goal. To beat everyone during just that gw or try to get as many points as possible.

I'm not sure that I understand, but I like it. I mostly like that it's somehow a jab at people who didn't triple captain Kane, because I am one of the people who made a decision to play the chip. Just when I cracked top 50K... hopefully, it's not a magic carpet ride into the top 1Million from here on in.

Likely starts against Stoke, after that Young is available again and has been on good form. Think Jose still prefers him and Valencia is close to returning. Shaw likely gets PL games when there are Champions League games though so not the worst pick if you don't have money for Jones.

Shaw is actually a decent left back while Young is not, he is some of the most average footballer i´ve seen. He plays well because he plays exactly the way Mourinho wants him in a position he can´t do much wrong in. Just because Young and Delph plays left backs for United and City doesn´t turn them into good footballers. They´re doing a great job, but put them at left back for Watford or West Ham and they would be shite. And United have been awful in defence since Valencia was hurt and that has do to with both back line and midfield issues, Young beeing one of them.

And when they don't it's not really that bad because you went with your gut. I actually find the majority of the time just purely going with my very first instinct works out well.

E.g. this week I immediately found myself torn between Alli and Son. Decided the uncertainty was telling me to get both for a hit and hope for the best. They didn't exactly smash it but they both scored and it was worth it.

For first time in 10 year I decided to follow stats. I ended up having my 2nd worse ever start to a season. Gw 6 I thought to hell with this. Went back to my normal technique and it's been upwards ever since. I'll not be using stats ever again

Unfair those folk doing the silly Lol at Kane (TC) thing...

Describe exactly which fixtures will be better than swa/WHM and which striker would be coming to them with better form than Kane....

The cold thing obviously made it a gamble...but it could easily have been well worth that gamble...

Captain was the sensible thing to do to protect rank ... TC was a gamble based on choices

Swansea are suborn, West Ham play their best v Spurs, Kane was/had been ill and hat-tricks do not come in trios
People who lol are silly anyway ... so if you are happy with your choices that's fair enough

Personally I am hoping for a SAT/WED fixture with one of the other big players .. could well be Sterling given MCI are very likely to be a team with a DGW

Captaining him doesn't actually protect your rank. The extra points people get from using the TC can't be compared to the points you have gotten that round. It's only comparable to the points you will eventually get from using your TC.

If you aren't using your TC, it's the next best thing. Sure the TC value is measured in the week you use it and getting that right is amazing for your rank.

Ok so against my better judgement I took a gamble and sold Salah for Son, hoping for price drops and assuming Salah would be out for a bit longer. I also had no idea about the Coutinho injury and the Barca news when I did the transfer otherwise I'd have sold him instead

With this in mind, what should my priority be for next GW:

Salah back in for Son / Cout
    Lingard in for Gross
    Morata out for ?????

Gut is saying hold off on Salah for 1 week given they are playing City and do a -4 for other two?

In a similar spot (although no regrets as I'm ahead on transfers made this week).

I am leaning towards holding the FT and bringing Salah back in GW24 to captain v Swansea. It's a risk because the Liv-City game could be a goal fest, but Son could also haul against Everton so I think it's sensible to do nothing in this case.

Salah could destroy city left hand side if Delph is playing. City have cup semi final to think of too and with such a big lead in league may not even play their best team.

Took some hits this GW, brought in Son, Alli, Aguero. Only just ahead on points but shipped some deadwood in the process. And I would say I didn't really get that lucky - made the aggressive move hoping for some massive hauls from the Spurs mids and Aguero, didn't quite get them but still a green arrow. And all chips still in the pocket. Hits to replace blanks with good options are not the enemy - hits without a good reason are the enemy.

Nailed it. Pretty similar for me, yours slightly better. Also way happier with my team now (Aguero in for DCL as part of the reshuffle). That's probably the part that doesn't get discussed enough - free hits now just have their old team back. I'm happy that my -12 has helped me shift dead wood like DCL.

If Kun has a strong run over the next 5-6 GWs it will make the hits even more justified. Feels good to have just sorted it out straight away rather than messing around trying to get Kun in over a few weeks.

So any free hitters prepared to admit yet that it should 100% be saved for a GW where you will be guaranteed to score significantly more points (players with a game vs players with a blank) and then get all your best players from top clubs back the following week without taking hits / losing value in time for a double GW?

Can we just end the debate now and acknowledge that free hits to solve relatively minor team issues is a terrible idea and won't even be discussed again after this season?

Fair play. I'd say you are a long, long way above the average for a free hit this week. Worked out well for you, but on a whole I don't think it is worth wasting the chip until we know just how effective it could be in genuine blank and double GWs.

I expect DGWs to come where you can FH and get all 11 players of good teams doubling up - couldn't see it for this GW as a strategy especially as WH were involved. I made 2 transfers guy on top did FH with 6 DGWs and we came out broadly neutral.

I didn't play the fh chip but reckon I got lucky this week so didn't make a difference. My fh team would have scored 77 (kept a copy if the team I was going to play) and my actual team got 82

    7. HashAttack

most people argue you should BB for DGW ... personally I use my TC then
It was a great two game weeks to use a FH - no need to carry any dead wood for GW 21 and free choice of players for GW 22. I also go into GW 23 with no DGW hang-overs

Things didn't go so great ... e.g. GW21 Morata, Sterling, KDB and Coutinho got a measly 8 points
McClean's goal to wipe out 9 WHU points and Andre Gray remembering where the goal was also didn't help

It didn't turn out great but the potential, and therefore, the justification was certainly there
      In poker it's called variance
