Defence looks to be where Fantasy Premier League managers will concentrate on in 2018/19 when it comes to Manchester United.

No top flight side kept more clean sheets than the Red Devils last season thanks to some stellar work from David De Gea.

However, Jose Mourinho’s men have some work to do to convince Fantasy managers to invest in their attack after an underwhelming end to 2017/18 offensively.

We’ve analysed all the data on Man United to work out which players look best for investment this season.

Fantasy Football Scout members can view that data in the Members’ Area and also read our full analysis of it below to help them pick the best possible FPL team this season.

    What will Mitrovic cost?

    1. Thinkering like a Boss

5.5 or 6.0.. Given that Bobby Reid score 18 goals only 5.5m, I think Mitrovic around that value. Unless he is Mid, then no question 6.5m

He's got more premier league form than Reid. More likely 6-6.5m

First one for me, hows it look? Will play 4-4-2 most of the time.
    Fabianski - McCarthy
    Robertson - Mendy - Cedric - PvA - (4.0)
    Salah - Mahrez - Jota - Hughes - (Cairney)
    Aguero - Auba (4.5)

Of couse. I choose Mahrez because couldn't find 0.5m and decided to gamble on Mahrez.

I think Mahrez is a better choice than Sane IMO. Mahrez goals and assists far greater than Sane in last 2 seasons in a much weaker team. Both have equal risk of rotation but I am going for Mahrez

          1. AndyCook
            8 years, 1 month ago

Mahrez played more minutes so output per game is comparable and took some set pieces which he will likely lose at City. Being the focal point of a team means you are more likely to score often as they set up for you to score, I would expect Mahrez output to go down versus last season. He also doesn’t know the way City play as well yet so more likely to be eased in.

It's a good debabte, but leicesters possession was far less than Man City's last season meaning Mahrez's time on the ball will be much less than Sanes. Coupled with being in a weaker team against stronger opposition I think Mahrez can only do better in a strong Man City team, where (a) they have better overall players and (b) they are far better in the final third.

Also worth noting that Sane started 32 prem games last season vs. Mahrez 36.

        Is Bailly nailed on though?

He was dropped a few times last year too.

NB, could have just been a Mourinho cover up to mask that he was injured.

The dream team that consisted of Paulinho? I think Stones was the only English defender worthy to be a part of that dream team. Young looked hapless in the last couple of games and pretty average otherwise.

Both will definitely start the season, however long term I think Bailly is more nailed. If (and a big if) Shaw impresses he could secure the LB position, it's definitely more risky but can save you an important 0.5.

Shaw would be better if he was nailed. Bailly has a better chance of making himself nailed and I can't see Jones / Lindelof ousting him in the same way Young will just Shaw

Cheers for that but you have to have some budget players, Douglas is a very attacking set piece specialist in a good Wolves side. Ralls and Cairney are very similar to Grob so hoping one can do well. Clearly Speroni won't play with Ddg in my team! Actually got any suggestions for playing bench players instead of Chalobah Peltier and Kamara?

Think there is so much potential value at 5.0 instead:

      Costa
      Hughes
      Kenedy
      Cairney
      Ralls

All either attacking midfielders and/or on set-pieces and fairly nailed.

Trying something a little different and going with both Mahrez and Sane over Aguero to start with, what do you reckon?

    Ederson
    Bailly - Robertson - Cedric - Bennett
    Salah - Sane - Mahrez - Hughes
    Auba - Firmino

    4.0 - Cairney - Wan-Bisaka - Quaner/Kamara

That's a decent idea - and I'm also looking at a pair of 5.0 mids in rotation.

    First draft for my team:
    Allison
    Alexander-Arnold, Maguire, Stones
Mhkykitarian, Salah (c), Pogba, Sigurdsson, Sané
    Kane (vc), Kamara

    Rmt

    Patricio

    Robbo, Bailly, Tompkins
    SALAH (c), Martial, Neves, Sané
    Firmino, Auba, Kamara

    Fab, Cedric, Peltier, Richarlison

Considering Bennett or Wan-Bissaka over Peltier. Ideally want to avoid too early WC and maybe take a small points hit.

On top of all the other good reasons to favour Salah, is the fact that if, say Kane scores for fun in August for once and is looking fire, downgrading Salah will mean that you can easily bring in a Kane-esque player in 2 FTs. It’s a early WC preventer which could be very valuable further on in the season

Kane scores for fun in August! Has to be the worst example I've seen on here

You mean like Salah and Aguero/Auba to Sanchez/Hazard/KDB and Kane?

If Kane scores for fun in August, Salah might also do the same though. And if Salah doesn’t, it might still be a bad transfer if Salah is looking sharp.

Oof. This got shut down pretty quickly... but I still think the point stands.

This isn’t a buy and hold game, especially at the beginning of the season. Being able to switch in and out whilst the template gets established is pretty important. Salah allows this.

Morning lads, if anybody could give me some advice on my team I would really appreciate it.

    Fabianski | Foster
    Cedric | Douglas | PVA | Robertson | (Bennett)
    Salah (C) | Sane | Jota | Elyounoussi (Cairney)
    Aubameyang (V) | Firmino | (Kamara)

Thank you in advance for your help. 🙂

downgrade PVA to a 5.0 or 4.5 maybe sakho as he is a bonus magnet. then upgrade kamara, apart from that its decent few good punts in there

Ought to be. I think the received wisdom is due to Europa Thursday night games they'll be exhausted or rotated. I think with it being the start of the season it shouldn't be an issue, particularly for Tarks and Mee. In fact they'll be battle-hardened from GW1 unlike other defenders.
