Some Fantasy Premier League managers may have let England fever take over a little too much in their preparations for the new season this summer.

That’s because the ownership levels of Jordan Pickford (£5.0m), Kieran Trippier (£6.0m) and Harry Maguire (£5.5m), stand-out performers at the World Cup, have surged in the last two weeks.

Such trust may prove to be misplaced as the trio are currently in danger of missing Gameweek 1 after returning to training later than their respective team-mates.

Trippier (24.8 percent) and Maguire (21.2) are now the two most popular defenders in FPL after just two weeks of the game being open.

The pair are clearly responsible for the two percent dip in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s (£5.0m) ownership, which has pushed him from first place to third when it comes to popularity among defenders.

Marcos Alonso (£6.5m) remains on 17 percent despite his role at Chelsea jeopardised by the arrival of Maurizio Sarri.

Jan Bednarek’s spell as the most fashionable £4.0m defender has come to an end, presumably due to Southampton’s signing of Jannik Vestergaard (£5.0m). The new holder of that position is Scott Malone (£4.0m) with 11.1 percent ownership, although he appears to be the second-choice left-back behind Chris Lowë at Huddersfield.

Meanwhile, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has started both of Crystal Palace’s friendlies so far and resides in just 2.6 percent of squads.

Pickford’s rise up the charts may be the reason that David De Gea (£6.0m) has seen his lead at the top of the goalkeeper popularity contest trimmed.

The Spaniard enjoyed 34.6 percent ownership two weeks ago but now sits in just 31.6 of squads. Alternatively, the drop-off may have been caused by Jose Mourinho declaring that he was unlikely to use any World Cup players in the first few weeks of the season.

Lukasz Fabianski (£4.5m) remains in second place with 24.7 percent ownership but has lost two percent since our last check.

Just below the now third-place Pickford is Ederson (£5.5m) whose ownership remains stable at 17.4 percent, while Nick Pope (£5.0m) has lost two percent.

In midfield, Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) remains comfortably the most popular player on the game, in 46.5 percent of squads.

Kevin De Bruyne (£10.0m) is in second place with 27.1 percent ownership with the much cheaper Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£7.0m) is the third most popular (21.4).

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s (£11.0m) strong start to pre-season, scoring five goals in the first three matches, has him climbing up the forwards charts. He is now in fourth place with 24.2 percent of managers backing him for Gameweek 1, dislodging Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m).

Top two Roberto Firmino (£9.5m) and Harry Kane (£12.5m) seem to have been the most fashionable sacrifice for managers getting the Arsenal man. Both of them were on roughly 39 percent ownership two weeks ago, they now have 37.8 and 33.6 respectively.

If early WC and/or planning to captain week 2 home to Huddersfield then may be case for Aguero and risk rotation with Jesus otherwise Aubameyang. I can see him as being fixture proof and I am going for him against what will be weaker City defence and Chelsea who may not have settled by week 2.

Everton are overhyped around here.. they can attack for sure but will concerns too.. and that new manager rebound will be over before season starts.. if they are not top 10 after 10 games Silva might get fired too..

What formation are you going for? So hard to choose!

    1) 3-5-2 to catch the 5.0-6.5-mid potential bargains
    2) 3-4-3 to have a 3rd forward of Arnie/Zaha/Tosun/Wood
    3) 4-4-2 to play def with good value

          Sure - currently looks like:

          4.5, 4.0
          Robertson, Mendy, Douglas, Tomkins (Wan-Bissaka)
          Salah, Mahrez, Mane, Mhiki (Chalobah)
          Aubameyang, Arnie (Sorloth)

Alternative version is upgrading Wan-Bissaka to Bailly/Coleman by sacrificing Mhiki.

Robertson and PVA (they're definitely staying)

Mendy (will see if he looks like being regular starter)...could turn into Coleman or maybe even VVD

          Douglas

Wan Bissaka (as the best 4m)

Robertson in my team, not so sure about Pva..isn't Mendy nailed when fit? Douglas is Interesting but then more tempted by Shaw and then later to Douglas to see how Douglas perform (can backfire :))

Palace's fixtures are insanely good, PVA is probably the only defender who rivals Alonso for attacking. Best 5.5m option IMO

This is surprising how I spend the maximum time on deciding the budget 6.5m - 7m mid / forward and I am always wrong.

This year I am going for Walcott and Wood. It will turn out to be the year of Fabregas / Milivojevic / Ritchie / King / Arnautovic / Iheanacho or someone else.

I think he looked like crap last season.

Playing for Jose Mourinho equals more defending compared to playing for Arsene Wenger

It's a new season, he could be worth a punt. But 10.5 is too much.

10.5 could be a reasonable price for him if he shows the form of a couple of seasons ago (and if Utd allow a more free attacking style than last season).

I find it really difficult at present to see him as justifying 1.0M in price over Mane, Sane and Eriksen. He's also still more expensive than KDB.

    A) Arnie + D Silva
    B) Aguero + 4.5 ?

    Alisson
    Baines Otamendi Tomkins Cedric
    Sanchez Salah Calaveiro (Silva/4.5?)
    Aub (Aguero/Arnie?)

worried about going without Aguero but midfield looks weak with a 4.5 starter?

Anyone going with Pickford/Steek keeper pairing ?

Happy with one EVE attacking slot

I think 4.5m keepers will be better value. Do you expect Everton to get many CSs under Silva?

        5.0/4.0 = 9.0 with those fixtures ...

          ...but it's Everton...not Burnley 🙂

I was...I'll either go back to Ederson+4m or find a 4.5m rotator now

Currently yes. Don't think any of the defenders are value (Coleman could be but unclear if he can produce attacking returns), can't see myself wanting more than one of Walcott, Siggy, Richarlison, Tosun.

    Hi guys.

Anyone care to run the rule over this mob/

    Pickford
    Mendy Robertson Shaw
    Salah Sane Siggi Jota
    Aguero Firmino Kamara

    Stekelenberg Wan-Biss Stephens Peltier

Main bone of contention being Aguero or Aubameyang and what to do with Shaw as and when Young gets back in

    Cheers.

Kolasinac. There must be reason why people are ignoring him. What am I missing here? Why is he not in more drafts?

      Monreal.

See closer to GW1 who's starting at LB.

Unclear whether it's him starting or Nacho Monreal

He is not a starter as of yet. New coach might help him but best thing would be Monreal leaving for Sociedad. We have until gw3 to come to a conclusion luckily

Gw3 through 10 is incredible for Arsenal assets

      Because Monreal may play LB
