Fantasy Premier League managers have been handed an early look at Chelsea and Manchester City ahead of the 2018/19 season – and we’ve already learned a few things from the Community Shield team-sheets.

Much to our excitment, the cheaper options of Pedro (£6.5m) and Callum Hudson-Odoi (£4.5m) were both selected in Chelsea’s starting line-up.

FPL defender Victor Moses (£6.0m) was named among the substitutes but could get involved in the attacking front-three in the second-half, and is worth watching.

As for Manchester City, more of their returning World Cup stars have been declared fit for the Community Sheild than was initially expected.

Fantasy managers should pay attention to how well they cope with the occasion as they are competing today without much preparation since coming back to training.

Riyad Mahrez (£9.0m), Leroy Sané (£9.5m) and Benjamin Mendy (£6.0m) are of particular note as they were all in the Manchester City training camp this summer.

Meanwhile, a start for Phil Foden (£5.0m), with Raheem Sterling (£11.0m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£10.0m) yet to return to club duties, could provide a value route into their midfield for the early part of the season.

For more detail on the areas to follow in today’s match, READ THIS ARTICLE.

CHELSEA XI (4-3-3): Caballero; Alonso, David Luiz, Rüdiger, Azpilicueta; Barkley, Jorginho, Fabregas; Pedro, Morata, Hudson-Odoi.

MANCHESTER CITY XI (4-2-3-1): Bravo; Mendy, Laporte, Stones, Walker; Fernandinho, Foden; Mahrez, Bernardo, Sane; Aguero.

Neither will play, but Hamer as there are quite a few Palace assets worthy of the watchlist and you wouldn't want Speroni taking one of the 3 spots.

For once we have a load of good cheap striker options, struggling to pick 2 though, guess we will all be interchanging them throughout.

    Pick 2 to start:

    A) Zaha
    B) King
    C) Arnie
    D) Tosun

Currently on B and D but not sure

Would you take Milivojevic over Jota?
On the face of it Jota has a higher ceiling, but he's also unproven in the PL - on the other hand, Mili is on FKs and penalties and Palace tend to get many penalties (not just last season, IIRC). Mili just seems like the perfect set and forget 6.5 mid, whereas with Jota I'll be wanting to get rid of him if he blanks in 2-3 games.

How hard would Palace get hit by a lack of Zaha? I don't have any stats on who won the penalties, but I wouldn't be surprised if his jinxing runs caused a lot of the penalties / free kicks that benefited Mili.

      1. stat
        8 years, 22 days ago

Oh yeah I'm assuming that Zaha stays. If he leaves then surely Mili's appeal is significantly lower.

Zaha is holding thr future of mili and...hazard lol
If sarri gets zaha, he might push hazard to striker à la mertens 😉
that is my deepest wish for next few days 😉

Really good point STAT. I'll definitely think about that.

      1. stat

Number of penalties won by Palace in the PL since their promotion:
        13/14 - 6
        14/15 - 6
        15/16 - 5
        16/17 - 7
        17/18 - 10

Mili is probably the safest (and most boring) option at 6.5.
However I think I would drive myself crazy having a set and forget mid who could blank 10 games in a row because Palace don't get any penalties in that time...

If Mili blanks for 2-3 games, why wouldn’t you consider getting rid of him?

      1. stat
        8 years, 22 days ago

Because he might get a pen in the next game.
Lets say Palace get 7 penalties next season - in theory Mili could blank for 31 GWs in a row and then score a penalty in each of the last 7 GWs.
For me Mili is a total set and forget, if you're going to get him you do so intending to keep him for a very long time in order to catch as many penalties as possible.

          Who takes penalties for Wolves?

          1. stat
            8 years, 22 days ago

Last season they had 6 penalties which were all taken by different players.
This season they've had 2 in pre-season which were both taken by Neves - he scored one, but missed the most recent one... so it's anybody's guess.

Different types of players Aguero is better on the shoulder of the defender his movement makes him great. Kane has developed excellent build up play and a devastating shot. I’d rather have kane in my team than Aguero.

I read an article at the end of last season which said his minutes would be managed this season due to his age.

Don't think he's a permanent fixture, will rotate in and out

I am thinking of going ederson Mendy Aguero. Just don't know who will start for man city in midfield. Mane safer option along with Salah in midfield. Aguero I reckon will be nailed atleast till cl starts. Way u guys think?

That’s the three I’m going for. Very tempted by Mahrez, but there just seem to be too many options in that midfield.
