Fantasy Premier League managers have been handed an early look at Chelsea and Manchester City ahead of the 2018/19 season – and we’ve already learned a few things from the Community Shield team-sheets.

Much to our excitment, the cheaper options of Pedro (£6.5m) and Callum Hudson-Odoi (£4.5m) were both selected in Chelsea’s starting line-up.

FPL defender Victor Moses (£6.0m) was named among the substitutes but could get involved in the attacking front-three in the second-half, and is worth watching.

As for Manchester City, more of their returning World Cup stars have been declared fit for the Community Sheild than was initially expected.

Fantasy managers should pay attention to how well they cope with the occasion as they are competing today without much preparation since coming back to training.

Riyad Mahrez (£9.0m), Leroy Sané (£9.5m) and Benjamin Mendy (£6.0m) are of particular note as they were all in the Manchester City training camp this summer.

Meanwhile, a start for Phil Foden (£5.0m), with Raheem Sterling (£11.0m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£10.0m) yet to return to club duties, could provide a value route into their midfield for the early part of the season.

For more detail on the areas to follow in today’s match, READ THIS ARTICLE.

CHELSEA XI (4-3-3): Caballero; Alonso, David Luiz, Rüdiger, Azpilicueta; Barkley, Jorginho, Fabregas; Pedro, Morata, Hudson-Odoi.

MANCHESTER CITY XI (4-2-3-1): Bravo; Mendy, Laporte, Stones, Walker; Fernandinho, Foden; Mahrez, Bernardo, Sane; Aguero.

    How’s everyone’s City thoughts going?
    Mine is:
    - Sané 45 mins, doesn’t trigger me at all.
    - Mahrez looked pretty poor, but got more minutes than Sané and is probably the choice to go with if you can afford.
    - Bilva looked good. But as soon as KDB and Dilva is back he’ll probably be dropped (within 1-2 GWs?)
    - Aguero 2 goals and looked hungry. But Jesus got subbed on and is probably fit for fight within 1-2 GWs. Pep fancy Jesus a lot, so rotation this early on will probably happen.
    - This leads me to dubble up on City defence (Mendy & Ederson) and just go with one choice and hope for the best.

It was Mahrez's competitive debut for Man City - it wasn't about the performance for him it was about getting some minutes

Fair enough - but that doesn’t mean he will start 3 GWs in a row just to adapt

I currently have Ederson, Mendy and Aguero but I want B. Silva.

    Would you:

    A. Ederson, Richarlison, PVA to Allison, B.Silva + 4.5

    B. Swap Mendy to a 5.0/5.5, upgrade Richarlison or Mkhi

Since everyone has the same core 6 players from Liverpool and Man City

I wonder if the Playing Bench is now more vital than ever to get aHead.

Perhaps worth sacrificing to either a 4.5 mid or a 4.5 forward to enable a "fuller" playing bench of 2 rather than potentially just 1...

First RMT of the season, and probably my craziest draft yet. Hear me out:

    Ryan

    Robertson / Mendy / Luiz

    Salah / Bilva / Jota / Fraser

    Aguero / Firmino / Arnautovic

    Bench: Foster / AWB / Peltier / Stephens / 1.0 itb

First, the attack: Today sold me on Aguero. He had been in and out over the past few weeks because of concerns about whether or not he would be ready for the start of the season. He answered that question pretty emphatically. Arnautovic has been a mainstay because I see him as a threat in every game he plays and as his team’s talisman. If a he misfires, there are 7.0-6.5 options. Firmino is a placeholder for at least two weeks. I want to see what happens with him, Lacazette, Morata, and Vardy. After that time, I hope to know more, and in the meantime, I think Firmino is the safest bet.

Midfield: I won’t add anything new on Salah. I let myself be swayed by Bilva’s involvement in preseason and his start in the CS. If he looks like losing game time, I might consider an upgrade to Dilva or moving sideways to either Ramsey or Mkhitaryan. In any case, like Firmino, he’s one who is an early placeholder, but one I’m more inclined to stick with if he performs well. Jota is one of lottery of 6.5’s I could have picked. Again, I think he is talismanic to his team’s attack. Fraser is a punt, I admit, but one who has performed more or less consistently when fit for the past couple of seasons. Stephens is bench fodder.

The defense is something different. I wanted 3 premium quality defenders from the most desirable clubs, and my plan is to set and forget. AWB and Peltier are emergency backup, and I’m hoping that the follies I’ve experienced in rotating in the best can be avoided.

In goal, I want a couple of lower mid-range options who have a history of saves and could get lucky on clean sheets. If Pickford leaves Everton, them Foster leaves for Stekelenburg.

And I’m leaving money in the bank to add flexibility should I want to upgrade Fraser, Bilva, or Jota. I could put some of that in my defense, but I would also feel like I’m wasting 0.5 by upgrading a non-starter.

With all of that, let the roasting commence!

You sacrificed your midfield to get 2-3 goals and a few assists from your defs over the course of the season.

(My current thinking is that we overrate those defs and the pts gain is minimal)

Rate my team new to this forum! unsure on a few players:

    Allison or Ederson (undecided yet)

    Shaw/Roberton/Tarkowski

    Arnie/Erikesen/Jota/B.silva

Salah/Aguero then either lacazette or Auba

    thoughts?

there is a section now for RMT in community so you may get more/better advice there

keeper I like both, id have Alison if I didn't already use all 3 LFC players up

defence im unsure on shaws time but could be decent until Jose spits dummy out. other 2 defenders I have similar( lowton and will have Robbo/VVD)

Arnie of west ham is now a forward, eriksen is good, Bsilva game time could be rotated and 'Jota is an unknown still but has potential to get decent points.

Salah is a midfielder so if you pick augero who is gonna go in mid ( I understand if you chose Salah then arnie would be the forward. Laca will proberly score less than Auba but is cheaper.

      that 10 players 3/4/2.

any more advice id be happy to help with full team.
