Fantasy Premier League managers have been handed an early look at Chelsea and Manchester City ahead of the 2018/19 season – and we’ve already learned a few things from the Community Shield team-sheets.

Much to our excitment, the cheaper options of Pedro (£6.5m) and Callum Hudson-Odoi (£4.5m) were both selected in Chelsea’s starting line-up.

FPL defender Victor Moses (£6.0m) was named among the substitutes but could get involved in the attacking front-three in the second-half, and is worth watching.

As for Manchester City, more of their returning World Cup stars have been declared fit for the Community Sheild than was initially expected.

Fantasy managers should pay attention to how well they cope with the occasion as they are competing today without much preparation since coming back to training.

Riyad Mahrez (£9.0m), Leroy Sané (£9.5m) and Benjamin Mendy (£6.0m) are of particular note as they were all in the Manchester City training camp this summer.

Meanwhile, a start for Phil Foden (£5.0m), with Raheem Sterling (£11.0m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£10.0m) yet to return to club duties, could provide a value route into their midfield for the early part of the season.

For more detail on the areas to follow in today’s match, READ THIS ARTICLE.

CHELSEA XI (4-3-3): Caballero; Alonso, David Luiz, Rüdiger, Azpilicueta; Barkley, Jorginho, Fabregas; Pedro, Morata, Hudson-Odoi.

MANCHESTER CITY XI (4-2-3-1): Bravo; Mendy, Laporte, Stones, Walker; Fernandinho, Foden; Mahrez, Bernardo, Sane; Aguero.

Aguero is still the best striker in the league.

He's certainly one of the most injury prone. And one who has lots of competition. But he is a very good striker when he plays.

      Kane is better than Aguero.
But Aguero is still quality. Shame Pep doesn't like him enough.

Kane is not even close to Kun; most of Kane's goals come when Spurs have already bottled their title challenge and the rest of the team is playing for Kane's golden boot; putting 6-7 past the likes of Hull City.

Why are you even talking about?

Yes he scored 7 v Hull and Leicester that one time 2 seasons ago in the final 2 games of the season to see off competition for golden boot from Lukaku... but he was already deservedly top scorer.

You really need to watch Kane some more if that’s your opinion of him.

I've been watching the PL/football in general longer than most people have been attending their high school.

I know what I'm talking about and I'd rather stick to my opinion; thanks.

I know a lot of people who watch the Premier League week in week out and they still have no idea what they’re talking about.

That’s fine if it’s your opinion, but I really wonder what you look for when you watch football to come to conclusions such as that.

I have been thinking of Foden for a couple of days now as a £5m 4th or 5th midfielder instead of one of the usual suspects such as Neves etc. Anybody thinking of this or am I crazy? I am aware it will only be for 2-3 weeks but he will almost definitely play for the weeks KDB is not playing.

    1. Ginkapo FPL
      • 15 Years
      8 years, 22 days ago

You'd have to start him every week regardless, which means you'll pick up a fair few 1pt'ers as well. Depends whether your 4th mid is equally week. High shot of points when he plays, just a lot of 1pt's as well.

      1. The Big Fella
        • 9 Years
        8 years, 22 days ago

Yeah it seems a waste of a FT to change him for another 5m player. I might just give him a miss. The price for other comparably priced midfielders that will actually play all season may go up too meaning I am stuck with a non-playing £5m asset.

Yeah. I have Ederson in net and Aguero up front. I also have Auba and Salah so unles I go for Bilva, I can't afford a 3rd City player anyway. Could possibly go for Mendy.......

I have been debating him for a few days over Neves in my team. I am unsure though as it will be a short-term thing when KDB is back he will play less and Neves may well go up in price meaning I can't afford him after. Using a FT for a £5m 5th midfielder seems a waste.
