As Fantasy Premier League managers consider breaking up the template of premium options ahead of upcoming fixture swings, we continue our latest series.

We are comparing some of the more expensive options on offer against their best-ever FPL scores to see whether they are justifying their price.

After studying Harry Kane (£12.4m) and Raheem Sterling (£11.2m) earlier this week, we now move on to Manchester City’s talismanic striker Sergio Aguero (£11.4m).

Aguero’s best-ever FPL score came in the 2014/15 season when he scored 26 goals and assisted a further 10. His exploits in front of goal earned him the Premier League Golden Boot award.

Those figures combined for a total score of 216 points, with 27 of them coming through the bonus points system.

Having scored eight times in the first 12 Gameweeks of 2018/19, a continuation of his current strike rate, 0.67 goals per game, would see him reach 25 goals for the campaign.

That would be one short of his best-ever Premier League goal tally, but he could easily beat his personal best for assists if he keeps up his form.

Registering six in the first 12 Gameweeks of 2018/19 means Aguero is averaging 0.5 per game, setting the potential for recording 19 by next May.

Crucially, the Manchester City striker is currently recording 6.67 points per game, this season. If he continues at that rate and avoids any injuries or rotation then he could record a total score of 253 points.

That would set a new career-high FPL season tally for Aguero, a truly incredible possibility considering his rich pedigree in the game.

FPL rule. Cheap defenders brings success.

RAM rips up this theory. They are the exception to the rule. With RAM out then we should be looking at cheap alternatives. I am surprised not to see more Mendy>Bennett/Peltier etc and bench as 3rd sub.

With the way ManCity are keeping cs again and again I think they are good value. Cheap defenders can do ok but difficult to find the right one.

I think this is it Citys defence is worth the extra outlay, but the likes of Dunk, Bennett and the like are great options. Its all down to what you do with the extra money.

Is TAA in for a defensive Liverpool double up to risky?

As everyone else around here I need to replace Mendy. I have been rocking the RAM + Doherty + WanB, but I am thinking of going double Liverpool defensively and get in TAA (or Vdd). I have 1,2m in the bank so if I go Mendy -> TAA I have the optioon of going Sterling -> Salah at a later time. I have not had Salah in my team this season, and I am not sure that that is something that I want to do. Money for Aguero to Kane at a later stage is also nice to have.

I currently love my attacking trio and any change there would probably be Wilson down to Jimenez, so I am not sure on how to utilize any saved money from downgrading Mendy. Any tips? WC is intact, and thinking around GW15

    Team id 459818
    Ryan - Fabianski
    Robertson - Alonso - Mendy - Doherty - WanB
    Hazard - Sterling - Richarlison - Fraser - Stephens
    Wilson - Arnautovic - Aguero

I'm happy with TAA, but not sure of a Liverpool double up now, I think their fixture are not the best. City look to have better fixtures and a better chance of clean sheets. Not interested in Stones?

I need some help I think I’ve messed up. I don’t know why I’ve done it, but having only taken one hit and no early transfers all season I’ve taken an 8 point hit earlier this week. This includes taking out Salah and I still have Mendy too. Need some advice on what to do, or is there a hotline I can ring?

    Should I:
A - Use my wildcard to replace Mendy and wipe away the shame
B - Take the -8 hit on the chin, replace Mendy next GW, and save WC

    Patricio / Stek

    TAA Mendy-X- Alonso Bennett AWB

    Martial Hazard Sterling Anderson Fraser

    Arnie Aguero Jimenez

Given you've only take 1 hit all season I would just swallow the -8 this week and save the WC. There will likely be alot of hits across the game this week anyway. The WC is going to make you alot of points if used correctly from GW15/16, IMO.

Thanks for replying in an older article pal. I Agree with what you are saying but unconvinced the fixture swing is that great. Who are you thinking of bringing in come GW 15/16?
