James Maddison (£6.6m) has come through his injury doubts to start for Leicester against Crystal Palace this afternoon.

The central midfielder was yellow-flagged before the game following comments from Claude Puel in his Thursday press conference.

Maddison starts in the number 10 role for the Foxes as their run of appealing fixtures gets underway this weekend.

Ben Chilwell (£5.0m) was not as fortunate as he missed out on a place in the matchday squad through his knock.

Christian Fuchs (£4.1m) makes just his second start of the season at left-back.

The wide attacking midfield slots are occupied by Harvey Barnes (£5.5m) and Rachid Ghezzal (£5.0m) while a recall for Jamie Vardy (£8.8m) sees Demarai Gray (£5.4m) drop to the bench.

As expected, Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.6m) sits out for Crystal Palace, covered at right-back by Joel Ward (£4.3m).

Further up the field for the Eagles, there is a first start for Michy Batshuayi (£6.5m).

Leicester XI: Schmeichel; Fuchs, Maguire, Evans, R Pereira; Tilemans, Ndidi; Barnes, Maddison, Ghezzal; Vardy.

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita; van Aanholt, Sakho, Tomkins, Ward; Schlupp, McArthur, Milivojevic; Zaha, Batshuayi, Townsend.

I’ve got Jota, all I want to do is sell him! But, that could easily be counter productive......
So considering the fixtures, keep for now.

What’s wrong with them being happy about their returns from Rondon.

Could see Liverpool properly bottling it tomorrow, defeat against city, conceding three at home to palace, only managing draws against leciester & west ham... struggling at home to score v bayern - these games will take their toll - are the cracks starting to appear?

"struggling at home to score vs bayern"

This not a bad thing. Bayern are one of the best teams in the world and Liverpool did look the better side, on another day they could have easily scored 2 or 3.
That being said, Anything could happen tomorrow.

      1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
        • 16 Years
        7 years, 5 months ago

The Bayern result is one of several signposts - their league form has really deteriorated since the defeat to city... we would not have seen Palace scoring 3 against them at anfield earlier in the year... or Leciester managing a draw at anfield, or failing to beat west ham... regarding Bayern - their defence is not hot - there are several Bundesliga teams with better defensive records this season.

Coming the other direction are a completely resurgent Utd (who have issues of their own obviously)

        It will be very interesting

In the league, Bayern have been chasing Dortmund - means they can´t sit back and defend, they have to attack and win games. An away game in CL against Liverpool is something very different.

Note how Kovac was able to eliminate Bayern in the cup final last year, using a shoddy (compared to the Bayern squad) Frankfurt defense. While managers like Pep or Jupp Heynckes have a great understanding of attacking football, Kovac has defense as his main strength (compared to managers like Pep/Jupp he lacks a bit in terms of attacking mindset though). OGS isn´t Kovac, feels like he is more "Pep-ish" - Manchester United attacking resurgent, but that might not apply for the defence.

I agree, it will be very interesting.

I agree with most of what ur saying, but ur not even mentioning the fact that half the defence that played the first half of the season has been out in most of the games u mention, and having to play mids in def has caused two departments to not function properly. Milner at rb looked quite terrible vs palace.

As for Bayern, they gave Liverpool ultimate respect and changed the way they play particularly in terms of their fullbacks and they genuinely didnt make much effort to get a goal themselves and the only way it looked like coming was if gnabry scored a solo effort. Liverpool did get a few half chances and did snatch at them but they didnt really look under any threat as such.

Overall their form has definitely dipped since the loss to city and nerves and pressure are sure to play some part but injuries and players being played out of position have been a large contributing factor.

Mentioning injuries, players OOP and even the wins between those results he's pointed out would mean painting the full picture - that messes up the whole "bottling it" sentiment he's going for in the original post

      Cracks definitely have appeared, yes.
Tomorrow is huge either way. A defeat at OT and I fear some repeats of the tension that the crowd exuded at Anfield vs LEI. That really effected the performance and Klopp knew it.
A win = happy days and a proper run at the title with those fixtures left.

    Advice please...

Am I right that my only real chip strategy with no WC is to just FH in 31 or 33 but build my team up now for DGW 32 and 35? Try to do damage limitation in 33 with FT and hits?

You can also build for 31 and 33, FH 32, take some hits to get a decent team for 35 and rest of the season.
But If I didnt have my WC, I would probably FH 31, and do damage limitation in GW 33.

Plan is FH31, TC32, WC34, BB35. Sound ok with below - tc Aguero or sterling? Thinking saving this week. Not sure on benching all def has good fixtures.

    Fabs
    Robbo Doherty Pereira
    Salah Sterling Mane Son Pogba
    Jimi Rashford

    Digne Lascelles Kama

Is it brave or stupid to go without City assets over the next 3 GWs? I just can't justify bringing them in when they will blank both 31 and 33... so effectively having only 3 fixtures in the next 5.

To get Aguero would require taking out Aubameyang who has averaged 6ppg (including rotation, but not injury) vs Aguero's 6.8. (likewise) - so over the next 5 Aub should avg 24 and Aguero should avg only 20.6. Aguero is in form, so maybe he averages a bit more but certainly no more than 8 - which would equal Aub's total AND have cost a transfer.

Rashford most likely to be rested against Southampton next week for Paris game. Thoughts on Rashford to Rondon?

      not sure about that

surely top 4 better shout for Man U than trying to chase forlorn hope vs PSG

Former world no.1 played WC and then benched Jimenez and Doherty which dropped him to 4th 😯

Kept Sane too. Will do well to finish top 50.

Bizarre moves really. No Kun Salah Sterling now and has 2 blanking keepers and a couple blanking players

He's finally got rid of his obsession of cheap non-attacking midfielders (Kante, Torreira, Moutinho (before his change of position)) - team looks solid on paper really considering his past decisions. But keeping Sane is wtf.

His Kante Torreira Mou picks were kinda helping him at times even though it was stupid of him to go that route. Killed his value really

Team looks solid but WCing in a blank gw is risky and it shows by the low scores.

Benching Wolves players was a terrible move too

Plan for this week was to go Mane for Son, aiming for 10 GW31 players:

Fabianski; Pereira, Yedlin, Robertson; Salah, Mane, Anderson; Wilson/King, Vardy, Arnautovic

Do you think it's worth sacrificing this to 9 players, in order to get some Man City coverage? Their next week games look very nice.
