Fantasy Premier League managers have finally lost patience with Teemu Pukki (£7.1m).

Despite scoring 37 points in the first four Gameweeks of the campaign, the Norwich City striker has attacking returns in just one of his last five Premier League outings.

That has led to a significant drop in Pukki’s ownership ahead of Gameweek 9, 270,000+ managers selling him so far over the international break.

Not surprisingly, that makes the Finland international the most transferred-out player following Gameweek 8, Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) sat behind him on 235,000+ sales.

However, 40.6% of Fantasy managers worldwide are still in possession of Pukki, while he was still the most popular forward in Gameweek 9 teams among the top 10,000 too.

With Norwich preparing for a trip to Bournemouth, who are not exactly famed for a solid defensive record, there will almost certainly be a large number of managers contemplating whether or not to give Pukki one more week.

We’ve taken a look at his underlying statistics over the first eight Gameweeks of the season to find out…

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those who have signed up for the 2019/20 season can access it in full.

What has happened to Pukki’s goal threat?

Lessons learned from Gameweek 8

man city and pool both have 7 games in the space of 21 days after the IB is it a wise decision to double or triple up on both teams attacks

Nice team, how’s your rank? I’ve done pukki to jimi with one of my FT for a little diff! Maybe you could downgrade defence and upgrade pukki to Wilson?

"Next 3 will surely outscore most " . Utter drivel. I can think of loads of players that will potentially outscore him over the next 3.

Otamendi would only have to outscore half the competition to "outscore most".

That seems fairly likely given City's quality compared to almost every other team. "Loads" of players could still outscore Otamendi and he'd still outscore most.

With the next 3 opponents only 2 on the fixture difficulty ratings, it's not "drivel" at all.

Great team, Salah to Mane would be an upgrade and save you some cash. I'd keep Ota for next 3. I'm also keeping double pool defence. You could also to VVD to Robertson. Wouldn't want to be playing Cantwell every week, think I'd start Lundstram over him.

Salah to Mane isn't necessarily an upgrade.
Otamendi is a shite choice imo.
Double Pool defence a good decision by me.
        Cantwell v Lundstram 50/50.

"Last season, we saw several Fulham attackers make a strong start to the campaign but eventually, they became mentally drained by the inability of the team to keep opponents out at the other end."

    Bit of an assumption, that

    1. George Sillett
      • 10 Years
      7 years, 4 days ago

Agree . It's subjective nonsense. The truth is just that they didn't get service because the rest of the team spent so much time defending in their own half.

    2. Brosstan
      • 12 Years
      7 years, 4 days ago

Its an assumption but one that makes sense for anyone who has basic understanding of psychology. Losing the majority of games will demoralize the attackers for sure. Same thing happening with Allison's absence making the Pool defence worse. Its not that Allison would have saved all the shots Adrian concedes, but the mere knowledge that their GK is unreliable if called upon spreads nervousness through the defense.

      1. George Sillett
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 4 days ago

Psychology has little to do with it. If a team spends long periods trying to defend the attack is starved of the ball. Very simple.

Pepe, I am going to keep a close eye over the next two GW's. Least he has had some returns lately. Would not touch him at this point but maybe just maybe he will pick it up.

    A - Sterling and Jimenez
    B - Kun and maddison

Jimi feels premature but could be good to get ahead. May be a bit of ffs hype though. Sterling hasn't been at the rqces recently for city though.

Maddison would be nice to have for the fixture swing but I feel like they wont explode for those first few. But Kun is a good captain option for 10 and 11.

should I bench, Rico or Lundstram?

should I wildcard to this, *insert term*

Think that the who will score more points questions in any given GW for player choices are ridiculous as nobody knows as is the case for captaincy and benching. Quite a few of these people return after a GW and blame the community for swaying them towards a pick if it doesn't work out. You take your picks and make your own choices . The advice on here as expected can be polar opposites and nobody can possibly claim to definitely know the answers. Opinions are frequently driven by illogical herd mentality.

Stick with Dendoncker and save the 0.1 or find the 0.2 for Guendouzi, not Saka as he'll likely be making way for Lacazette next couple GW's so a transfer waiting to happen?

    Wc team...

    Pope mcgovern
    Taa, soy, rico, lund, kelly
    kdb, mount, Maddison, dendoncker, .....(a/b)
    Wilson, Abraham, ......(1/2)

    A) sterling
    B) mane

    1) aguero
    2) auba

Currently thinking 1a for next 3 games, then bringing mane in for sterling or aguero

Mane, Auba, Pereira and you've nailed the WC in my eyes as would be near identical to mine!! Only diffs is Ryan/Button as GK's and Guendouzi over Dendoncker.

Your media over there in England hates us tbf and writes rubbish about us. Wouldn’t surprise me if Mcguire was more like 60m. And very much doubt we’ll be in for Maddison unless he can prove himself at a bigger team than the one he’s at. He’s got potential but probably still a stepping stone away yet

Yeah wouldn’t mind having it now tbh. Soon as Trossard is back Dilva no longer has to stink my team out, not sure what I was expecting from that one but I guess 4PPG from him is okay considering how poo these last few weeks have been even for premiums. Excited to have a defence with no otamendi

Tried to have a bit of fun but also been a pretty boring season, my rank also being inside top 50k is what’s keeping me going so far. Couple of punts paying off, couple not. Rotation period is when we can kill off the poor planners though looking forward to that

10 or 20 points makes a huge difference to OR at this stage. I tend to get to GW30 , get completely bored and do loads of hits just to spice things up . Last season GW30 20K OR , GW38 220K. ☺

Similar story here since I started using this place properly. The DGW planning gave me the motivation to carry on but the bleak, mediocre ending left me questioning why I ever played this game so did the same sort

I devote my attention from November onwards to gambling on the jumps season . Priority wise FPL gets its rightful place then. Cheltenham and Aintree are very time consuming. ☺ as well as the rest of the season.

What makes you think Rico will be a non-starter?

"We like him a lot but this is really useful time for him to learn and develop himself while he’s not in the starting XI, so he becomes the complete player."
Doesn't ring any alarm bells for me, sounds more like he needs time to develop.
He also said that Rico is growing in confidence. So seems a bit odd to then drop him?

Those fans are definitely wrong as he gives the ball away for fun in his own half, he’s very lucky it hasn’t resulted in a goal yet so that everyone would notice

And maybe you're right but that doesn't mean he's a bad FPL option. At 4.1m, he has a lot of upside despite being a Bournemouth defender.
