Benjamin Mendy (£5.9m) was the chief victim of Pep Guardiola’s rotation policy as he was absent from the Manchester City team named to face Liverpool.

That’s now two matches in a row that the left-back has missed out on a place in the starting XI, Angeliño (£4.7m) preferred once again.

Also suffering from so-called Pep Roulette are Riyad Mahrez (£8.4m) and David Silva (£7.6m) who both find themselves on the Manchester City bench, although the latter was an injury doubt heading into Gameweek 12.

Also overcoming their injury problems is Rodri (£5.4m) who, despite being red-flagged for this weekend, starts in central midfield alongside Kevin de Bruyne (£10.2m) and Ilkay Gündogan (£5.2m).

“I didn’t want to put them both (Rodri and D Silva) in after injuries. Rodri felt okay last two training sessions so I selected him.” – Pep Guardiola

Following his goal against Southampton last time out, Sergio Aguero (£12.0m) keeps his place up-front, keeping Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m) on the substitutes’ bench.

The Argentinian is flanked by Raheem Sterling (£12.0m) and Bernardo Silva (£7.9m) in the front-three.

There are fewer surprises in the Liverpool team as Mohamed Salah (£12.3m), Sadio Mané (£12.0m) and Roberto Firmino (£9.5m) lead the attack.

The Senegalese international will be the Fantasy focus of the afternoon as the most transferred-in player of the match, earning 225,000+ new owners for Gameweek 12.

They will be particularly hopeful considering that Claudio Bravo (£4.8m) comes in for Ederson (£6.1m) to make his first Premier League start for a year and a half.

The Chilean was arguably the man of the match against Liverpool in the Community Shield in August but was the villain of the piece midweek when he was sent off against Atlanta.

“The past is the past in football so it doesn’t matter what happens (then). He has a lot of experience, I just expect him to go out there and play (as he is).” – Pep Guardiola

With Joel Matip (£5.3m) still out injured, Dejan Lovren (£5.3m) starts a fourth match from a possible five at centre-back.

Liverpool are still without a clean sheet while the Croatian has been in the team though and are still yet to keep any side out at Anfield in the Premier League this season.

Liverpool XI: Alisson; Robertson, van Dijk, Lovren, Alexander-Arnold; Fabinho, Wijnaldum, J Henderson; Mané, Firmino, Salah.

Manchester City XI: Bravo; Angeliño, Fernandinho, Stones, Walker; Rodrigo, Gündogan, De Bruyne; Sterling, Aguero, B Silva.

Salah wasn't offside and the handball was 50/50, not an obvious penalty.

Cant see Liverpool not scoring a 3rd, but City will score..

The penalty wasn't quite stonewall in previous seasons but with the new handball rule it was a bit of a shocker considering the importance of the game and how VAR is supposed to correct exactly this type of decision.

Is going without City players not all doom and gloom right now with how good so many other players are and rotation to be expected when those December fixtures come up?

    1. have you seen cyan
      • 6 Years
      6 years, 8 months ago

I have only had KDB for about 5 weeks now and been around 200k - 380k the whole time, so no its not devastating not to have them..

    2. TheDragon
      • 8 Years

Going without city is risky, going with city is risky because of rotation.

They’ll score a bucket load of goals so if you have the players who score
Them you are in for green arrows

Can someone explain to me how come the line used for offside isn't straight?

Just came up on Sky and you can clearly see when compared to the cut of the grass or the edge of the box it's at an angle. An angle which if straight looks like it would show Salah marginally offside. I'm not saying it's wrong, but why is it obviously not straight across?

    1. Marvin.
      • 9 Years
      6 years, 8 months ago

How do you know the grass is cut perfectly straight?

    2. Syd.
      • 17 Years
      6 years, 8 months ago

They would need about 100 camera's to cover every angle but I am pretty sure it is 99% correct

      1. TomSaints
        • 8 Years
        6 years, 8 months ago

I'm sure it is right (if they take 4 mins to make a 1mm offside call then surely get this right!). I was just wandering if there was some graphics reason / TV angle etc

    3. Pukki Party
      • 9 Years
      6 years, 8 months ago

The line on the grass isn't actually straight as the angle is not on the line i guess.

      1. Pukki Party
        • 9 Years
        6 years, 8 months ago

This made no sense. The line on the grass is only straight if you stand on the line if you know what i mean

        1. TomSaints
          • 8 Years
          6 years, 8 months ago

Yep i think so, it was more just jarring seeing edge of the box, then line in the grass then offside line clearly not the same. Just weird!

Rico over Robbo was a ridiculous decision

Very unlucky on the DDG vs Pope one though.

Benched points are the worst / most annoying. Benched Soy for Rico this week.
