With Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£8.2m) set for a spell on the sidelines and a ban ruling Michail Antonio (£7.9m) out of Gameweek 5, many Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are unexpectedly in the market for a new forward.
At the time of writing, the pair are the two most-sold forwards in FPL, but should we be selling them, and if so, who are the best replacements?
In this, our latest Fantasy Football Scout Members article, we’ll attempt to answer those questions.
Ings to Bamford/Jimenez worth a hit?
Probably not.
If you kept Ings up to now you may aswell continue to hold as the fixtures turn okay again soon
Depends how long you want to keep your WC for
Also Ings is going down. Bam might go up if he’s pictured in training tomorrow

Give the captain's armband to Haaland? Now my captain is Ronaldo with 12 points. Will Erling score a goal?
Prob get a hattrick
I'm sitting on 2 FTs with team below, and feeling a little stuck. Should I:
A) WC
B) Hold WC until GW7 as planned and just do Toney and Bruno > Ronaldo and Gray/Sarr
C) Something else?
Bachmann/Foster
TAA, Shaw, Coufal, Liva, Tsimi
Salah, Bruno, Greenwood, Raphina, Gilmour
Ings, Antonio, Toney
£0.5M itb
B with Sarr. Dont fancy gray with 3 goals from 3 on target
Good question to ask yourself might be what would your WC look like this week vs GW7? If they're going to be pretty similar, then not much harm in using it now.
That said, seems like you are probably fine to just do that double transfer and save the chip.
Thanks both - good feedback.
based on above feedback i'd imagine at least 5/6 changes to any wildcard team
B with Sarr are great moves. Hold that WC and look at gw8 instead of 7
B and Gray
Sanchez
TAA - Marçal - Williams
Salah - Raphinha - Benrahma - Gray
Ronaldo - Lukaku - Bamford
(Steele - McArthur - Duffy - Livramento)
Was highly regretting not pulling the trigger on the WC last week. Is my attempt to make amends with the draft for GW5 good to go? Cheers!
I would play Duffy over Williams
Solid
Super
Defence is very ropey
And that's the cost of a stellar forward line
Not sure having three premiums is Worth it.. spread the cash..
Sarr or Gray? Why, in your opinion?
G
Gray, plays for a better team and seems to be Rafa's lovechild, in great form ans spare cash to use elswhere.
If that is not enough reason to pick him instead of Sarr then so be it 🙂
Been thinking the same myself.. form probably unsustainable though, is the thing?
& have heard Sarr also has pens, with potentially better fixtures
You cannot expect any player to score every game.
Suarez and Aguero say hi
Gray
This week:
Sanchez
TAA Tierney Coady Williams
Salah Jota Benrahma Greenwood
Ronaldo Bamford
(Steele Allan Livra Antonio)
A. Benrahmah to Raph -4
B. Livra to Marcal-4
C. Stick
Currently around 8K OR.
(A is possible until 2 price changes happen
B only viable until 1 price change happens)
C. Benny’s fixtures are quite good after United. United don’t have the best defence either
Yes. Benny could be a season long thing
Who is Benny
Benrahma
I'd wait until the Europa League match and see what Benrhama does, how much he plays. There seems to be concern that he is not nailed now.
Schmeichel
Trent Shaw Lowton Tsim/Liv
Greenwood Salah Bruno benrahma Torres
Jimenez
Ward Tsim/Liv obafemi antonio
1FT 1.0 ITB
Thinking of either
A) tsim + Torres —> jota and marcal
B) antonio —> bamford
C) wildcard and change squad completely
I would do B
Jimenez up top on his own is a disaster. Sure you will get Antonio back GW6 but then also have a look at your bench. Obafemi is no longer part of the game after his move from Soton and Tsimi will be bench ridden from now on for LFC.
Thanks, yeah obafemi is a fodder. Strike force of jimenez and Antonio.. pretty good for the next 5-6 fixtures. But will prob bring in lukaku in gw7, downgrade Bruno.
C maybe
Tsim > marcal
This
Friends, please:
Meslier (4.0)
TAA / Shaw / Coufal (Livramento, Omobamidele)
Salah / Jota / Torres / Raphinha / Benrahma
Bamford / Ronaldo (Obafemi)
A. Benrahma to Gray/Gallagher/Saka
B. Coufal to Coady/Marçal
C. Hold
Leaning towards C really, but I'm curious to hear your thoughts.
C
I appreciate it, sir!
is this a wildcard team?
i looked at meslier but their defence is really bad - would expect newcastle to score
Gray is an option if you own him but no need to buy him right now
i'd also play coufal, united still leaky so holding transfer seems more valuable for next week
Haven't wildcarded yet, sir. I agree on Meslier — and I appreciate your thoughts!
B or C. Only say B because Wolves defence is good for a decent amount of time and i don't fancy west ham defence against united. I'd probably sway towards C though, always good to have 2ft's. C
Thank you, mate, thank you very much indeed. Cheers!
Pick one for a WC draft:
A) 3-4-3
Sanchez
TAA - Marçal - Williams
Salah - Raphinha - Benrahma - Gray
Ronaldo - Lukaku - Bamford
(Steele - McArthur - Duffy - Livramento)
B) 4-4-2
Sanchez
TAA - R. James - Marçal - White
Salah - Jota - Raphinha - Gray
Ronaldo - Lukaku
(Steele - McArthur - Duffy - Scarlett)
Cheers!
I like B

Sanchez
TAA Marcal Ayling
Salah Jota Raphinha Sarr Gray
Lukaku Ronaldo
Subs: Steer Livramento Duffy Scarlett
G2G?
Do I need to make any changes?
Appreciate any opinions.
Thanks
Marçal or Alonso for the next few fixtures? Considering Alonso’s risk for rotation?
good to have a chelsea defender but clean sheets might not be as easy to come the next 2 so depends where that extra ~1.2m gets spent
RMWCT?
Sanchez
TAA James marcal semedo omobamidele
Salah raph Saka sarr Gallagher
Lukaku Ronaldo Richardson
Not bad. Gallagher + saka > sissoko + Torres maybe
Livra seems the obvious 5th defender
Richarlison a decent differential, would you plan to keep him after his next 2 fixtures - if not what's the move?
Sarr or gray for the next 3?
Although gray is in form,Watford have beaten Norwich in their past 4 meetings and Watford have matches against the 3 worst defences in the league coming up.
Sarr is also on pens.
Sarr
Pogba or Greemwood
i had greenwood, am thinking pogba after their difficult fixtures + Ronaldo
Greenwood
Greenwood for now. Neither for a fair few weeks and then pogba when fixtures turn
Pogbis
Thoughts on a 433 on WC? Not liking the midfield options too much.
Could also have a flexi 433 - 343 set up rotating a cheap mid and defender (e.g. Marcal and Gray)
its only been 4 games weeks. there are midfielders who are still emerging.
And they’re all 5.5-6
4-3-3 is definitely very viable, great defense options. Just limits your ability to jump on mid-priced mids which is why I'm leaning towards 3-4-3.
seems ok one bench fodder 5th defender and 2 rotating 3rd/4th defenders. enough playable midfielders under 6.0m to go with one
Magnus Carlsen wildcarded this gamesweek.
His main differentials are Traore, and Aubameyang.
Was already thinking about Aubameyang but now he is looking even more tempting.
assume Auba was probably for that week and he'll find a way to move him on
wouldn't have thought so.
he's not that bad a pick. scored against norwich, joint 2nd for most shots this gamesweek (6) and has good fixtures.
How is he more tempting becasue one person got him in?
he's literal genius.
one of the most intelligent men alive today.
And an excellent FPL player with a proven track record.
Play your own game.
i own my own decisions
nobody operates in a vacuum
you're here too right
What is ID please?
132645, already had it sorry
Best Option here
A Traore
B Sarr
C Pukki
I don’t like any
None are great but any better options at the price point? I already have /gray

Hey folks, how much danger is there of Trent's price rising tonight?
He's currently on 92.7% at FPL statistics but I can't afford him if he goes up overnight but at the same time, I'm nervours about pulling the trigger before the Milan game is over tomorrow.
Thoughts?
Many thanks
I think he will survive but don't hold me accountable!
Many thanks for the reply.
I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for the next 90 mins or so ...
I wonder how many people transferred in the wrong 4.5 Aston Villa mid named Ramsey this week.
not that there's a right Ramsey...
Well there isn’t a right Ramsey sooooo….
Digne to Marcal on a free?
I think Semedo will still be the better long term option, but I like the move.
I think I prefer Samedo, unless you need the money.
I can do semedo.. that was.my next question. Never long term for me anyway.
Worth getting rid of digne for one of those two though?
I like the look of Wolves defence and Semedo would be my choice for sure. I'd do it if no other fires in your team.
Stick with Marcal, Semedo not worth the extra.
This
Tempted to WC, but could just do DCL & Bruno to CR7 & Jota -4?
Bachmann
TAA \ Shaw \ White \ Dunk
Salah \ Bruno \ Harrison \ Benrahma
DCL \ Bamford
(Foster \ Ayling \ Gilmour \ Antonio
Any thoughts?
Looks good. Go for it brotha
Cheers, need to do tonight to avoid price changes. Just hoping for no injuries this week.
Don’t take a hit for a player that hasn’t played yet and who you will want to transfer out in 2-3 weeks time. Consider Torres/Sarr
I'd disagree, those alternatives are also players that he may very well want to transfer out in 2-3 weeks time. He has bench cover in case Jota does get injured.
Who has not played yet?
Jota (and other Liverpool players). But really, the hit is being taken for CR7, assuming they don't have 4.5m ITB to go straight from DCL to CR7.
Got it, thanks. Agreed.
Shipping Bruno out is a tough call, but Bruno to Ronaldo even for a hit has been popular. I'd definitely like to sort DCL. Not keen on Jota.
What to do here, guys?
Sanchez
TAA Shaw White Ayling
Salah (C) Jota Greenwood Benrahma
Ronaldo Toney
____
Steele Antonio* Duffy Brownhill
1 FT 0.7 itb
A) Gwood to F. Torres (to fund Toney to Jimenez the following week
B) Save FT
C) Benrahma to Raphina
D) Antonio to Bamford
Leaning towards A or B as Toney is surely my weakest link. No direct replacement tho 🙁
I think you can save this week
B
Ayling or Ben white
To play? White I think.
White
Will dcl drop tonight?
Why did Gilmour not play last weekend?
Probsbly rest from playing for scotland
Semedo or Marcal? Short term punt
Semedo is the better option
Marcal, Semedo not worth the extra.
Sanchez
TAA Marcal Ayling
Salah Jota Raphinha Sarr Gray
Lukaku Ronaldo
Subs: Steer Livramento Duffy Scarlett
G2G?
Do I need to make any changes?
Thanks
Looks great, like a WC team!
That’s defo a WC team
Thanks guys! Just having a concern wthr to have ayling or white
Love that it almost resembles my wc team last week
Does anyone have some decent insight re Ait Nouri? Apparently a really talented player.
Wondering if he will start playing anytime soon for Wolves? His price looks to be dropping further so a viable cheapie defender which may assurp Marcal's spot?
Looks Marcal's spot to lose atm.
A) Jimi and Raph
Or
B) Bamford and Sarr
eAsy
Well Jimi hasn’t looked like his old self (understandably) so even though he has the fixtures I’d avoid. On the other hand Bamford might have an injury, so tricky! Have you considered Pukki, great run of fixtures & enables a Mf upgrade?
A because of Raphina
