We’ve put together our Scout Picks ‘bus team’ ahead of Double Gameweek 22 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

In this early selection, we select a first draft of our regular picks before they are finalised and published much closer to Friday’s deadline.

We are limited to an £83.0m budget for our starting XI, while our bench is also price-capped after a reader vote.

In the meantime, this ‘bus team’ article – a term coined by the duo behind the Always Cheating podcast – will discuss the players who are likely to be in the running.

GAMEWEEK 22 FIXTURES

THE LIKELY LADS

FPL Gameweek 22: Salah's form, Rashford's TC credentials + Leeds players

The final Scout Picks will unquestionably feature significant representation from Manchester United, following the confirmation that they will have two fixtures in Gameweek 22.

The Red Devils are in a rich vein of form, despite defeat at Arsenal last time out. Prior to Gameweek 21, they had won four of their five matches since the Premier League resumed after the World Cup.

From Gameweek 17 onwards, Marcus Rashford (£7.2m), Bruno Fernandes (£9.9m) and Luke Shaw (£5.2m) have returned 46, 39 and 36 points respectively, figures that put them among the very best FPL performers in that period.

Fernandes is a source of much discussion in the Fantasy community, with his underlying numbers the focus of a recent Members article (TLDR: they’re a mixed bag), but two bites of the cherry at Old Trafford and his undoubted assist potential puts him firmly in the mix.

These ‘doublers’ will no doubt form the backbone of our Scout Picks, but there are other ‘likely lads’ who have just one fixture.

Newcastle United, Arsenal and Manchester City options are also likely to make the cut.

Having kept six clean sheets in a row, bonus magnet Kieran Trippier’s (£6.1m) inclusion is a no-brainer, the only real question is whether or not we double-up on the Magpies rearguard, via Nick Pope (£5.5m), Fabian Schar (£5.1m) or Sven Botman (£4.5m).

Arsenal, meanwhile, visit an underperforming Everton side, albeit one that will likely have former Burnley manager Sean Dyche in the dugout for the first time.

The Gunners have kept seven of their nine clean sheets on the road this season, conceding just six, while the Toffees have the fourth-worst minutes per xG rate in the division since the restart. As a result, Gabriel Magalhaes (£5.2m) and Ben White (£4.7m) will be pushing for inclusion in the Scout Picks.

Further forward, Martin Odegaard (£6.9m), Eddie Nketiah (£6.7m), Bukayo Saka (£8.2m) and Gabriel Martinelli (£6.7m) all carry potential, with the current bus team favouring the former duo, who lead the way at Arsenal for goal attempts in the last five Gameweeks.

Finally, Erling Haaland (£12.2m) is all but assured of his place barring an unfortunate injury. Man City, of course, are capable of racking up the goals against pretty much anyone, so a trip to a Tottenham Hotspur side won’t hold any fear.

Saying that, it’s unlikely there will be room for Kevin De Bruyne (£12.5m) or Riyad Mahrez (£7.7m), despite this fixture serving up plenty of goals in recent times.

For me, if I want Bruno for the double, it comes down to:

    A. KDB to Bruno and back. Nketiah as 3rd Arsenal.
    B. KDB to Bruno, Saka as 3rd Arsenal but no route back to KDB for City double.
    C. Choose another United asset for the double

    1. banskt

Look at Bruno's underlying numbers before making the decision.

After reading the numbers, I am selling Kane and still not buying Bruno. Rashford, 3 Arsenal attackers and 3 City attackers are where the points at.

It's why the hokey cokey is appealing. Get him for a really prime double, but still be able to field 3xCity and 3xArsenal in 23

If you don't have any City or Arsenal defenders, then I agree.
Otherwise, I think the transfers will give more points to remove Arsenal and City defenders and get 3 attackers from those two teams.

I've got Gabriel & Martinelli and Haaland, KDB & Mahrez.

So KDB -> Bruno and back plus Mitro to Nketiah for the Arsenal triple up.

Or I upgrade Almiron to Saka but then only Mahrez & Haaland in GW23 (unless I got a cheap city mid or a defender).

In fact, other than Gabriel over White and Buneo over Patterson, I'm rocking the same team as you I think!

Yes, we have the same team -- almost. But, this week it will become different because I am going with C (from your options). Sounds like you have decided on A.

My rationale is to sell White, because I want to have 3 Arsenal attackers for the next 4 gameweeks. That means I cannot waste transfers to buy and then sell Bruno.

No. I am selling White, Kane and Almiron. I need money in the bank to navigate the blanks.

Alternate is Kane and Almiron to Bruno and Nketiah, but then I will have only 2 Arsenal attackers.

I will swap KDB to Kane on GW26.

Yeah, I can see how I can make things much better with the $ from Kane, but he's in exceptional form - looking somewhat ordinary thanks to Haaland - and not sure I can bring myself to lose hime

Going into a City DGW with only 1 Asset? Because you can't get KDB back without a hit and presume you haven't got enough to shift a midfielder on?
To be honest, I'm thinking very similar moves as above.

      1. Heiro
        • 16 Years

        I have Ake also.
You are right, I can't get KDB back without a hit but who says he starts? City still looking for their first 11. But I see your point.

Spurs was the first game KDB hasn't started since Forest in GW5. So good chance he starts both

              There are other United assets.

Not saying it's the wrong move, it's my B option above. I'm just pointing out the concerns I have with the move.

                I see your predicament.
I don't trust United defence enough to double up.
They have Palace, Leeds, Leeds, Lei, Brentford.

Gotta be worth a gamble surely on United?

                  I think probably yes

I am not convinced Bruno is a long term pick for me - happy with Rashford and Shaw and a possible Bruno DGW punt.

My priority would be getting 3 Arsenal attackers (instead of White) and 3 City attckers.

But, its your team. If you think Bruno can keep outscoring his xGI massively (which many players do when in firm, e.g. Almiron) then go ahead by all means.

I can whip Bruno back to KDB the following week if I go with Odeguard instead of Saka.

            Really good suggestion.

Would you take hits, for ex -12, or play WC? Is it a good time to use it? Dont know how the future will look, possibilities of better double or triple gameweeks? Also, is Mahrez a good pick? Dont think i can afford KDB if i want triple City, United and Arsenal. Foden doesnt look like hell start, also pep roulette etc.

I think the best WC differential over the next few weeks is to have 3 Arsenal attackers -- as close to guaranteed point returns as possible. Most teams have at least one defender, blocking them out of 3 attackers.

Yes I think so. First choice RW, has the form and no one really challenging for the spot at the moment. Alvarez could start ahead of KDB against Spurs back 5

He's first choice until he's randomly not and is benched for 4-5 games straight as has been the case in the past.

      Sideways or maybe, downgrade.

Gabriel or Zinchenko could be upgrades over White, if you want Arsenal defender. But I don't think that you need to waste a transfer there.

Can you go up to Antony? Casemiro is third highest in xGI-per-90 among United midfielders. Rashford has the highest, Antony second.

The 'LiVARpool' morons out in force on Twitter again today after the Brighton match. I know its a nice convenient play on words but please give over. Its so tedious. Sure, Fabinho should have been sent off but I can provide a long list of VAR shockers that have gone against Liverpool including a moment of corruption at the Everton Man City match that ended up costing Liverpool the league. All teams have VAR decisions that go for and against them and Liverpool are no exception.

If you owned both, who would you bench between White (Eve) and Robertson (Wol) this week? Obviously, Arsenal’s defence is way better than Liverpool’s at the moment, but Wolves are so toothless and Robbo’s still as attacking as ever
