How regular a starter is Encisco likely to be?

I will have him for first 3 and then assess. Keeping money in bank to move to Sterling

I am taking a punt on Alvarez. Had Foden originally but no guarantee he starts as well. Save 1M and will keep an eye on pre season and transfers.

      1. Why not both?

      2. Bruno significantly underperformed his underlying numbers last yr. So, if he reverts* to the mean then there's every reason he can rival Rashford.

*Big assumption he rivals the opportunities had last yr. with Mount on the roster. Preseason will help figure out Bruno's role.

Ramsdale for me is a waste of 0.5M
Enciso - Big risk for starts
Son is a wait and see for me, similar to Darwin

Totally get the wait and see part,
Son very average last season but with Maddison providing assist I can only see Son and Kane benefiting.
Enciso is a fabulous prospect and with MaCallister gone I csn only see minutes.
Ramsdale is purely my season keeper at 5m, pick and leave
Darwin depending on pre season could be Gakpo/Nkunku
        Many thanks for honest advise.

I get that the 6.5M are better structure wise given there are more options at that bracket but I'm surprised that no teams have Paqueta (6.0M) who had a fantastic end to the season and could get a bit below the 10 goal or assist mark based on his record for Lyon. I guess he might play a bit too withdrawn for the Hammers but for 6.0M he's a fair price and gets 0 focus while everyone has atleast 1 of Mitoma/Mbuemo/Eze.
Same goes for McNeil at 5.5M although he's in a worst team but has good fixtures.

Fair enough, I'll stick with him atleast till the pre-season bandwagons emerge haha. There's quite a few away games but apart from Man City and to a lesser extend Brighton there are no defences which look that formidable.

Both are definitely good options and you are rightly justified to point them out. I’d also throw Benramha in there as well for those looking to go a little different come gw1.

Thanks forgot about Benrahma! As long as you have 1 6.5M Mid there are enough options between 5.5M and 6.0M to be able to save 0.5M for 3-5-2 on the 5th Mid.

Accusations of financial doping (and "buying the league") come from money spent on transfers before the introduction of FFP. Since then, all clubs must adhere to FFP, including Arsenal, so I don't know why you keep banging this drum.

As far as we know, only Man City have been breaching the rules, so I guess the financial doping hasn't necessarily stopped for them.

Arsenal are doing a bit better than most, at the moment, at trying to replicate what City did, except within the restrictions of FFP.

            • 10 Years

I assume your "net spend" figures are based simply on fees for player transfers, but we all know Arsenal haven't sold well in the past 5 years. They have, however, had a relatively low wage bill. I mean, I'm no expert, but the first Google result I got suggests that Arsenal spent about £80m less than City on wages last season, and £110m less than Chelsea.

            https://www.spotrac.com/epl/payroll/2022/

I don't know how accurate it is, but it's certainly something to consider when you're doing the accounts...

Yup. No expert myself but for the limited reading I’ve done, wage bills are a significantly underweighted commodity when people talk about FFP.

It’s not just a case of adding up transfer fees as ‘net spend’. Amortisation over longer periods and wages are huge considerations.

Not keen on Morris pick and I'd prefer a 3-5-2 so you might consider Mings to 4.0 (Pau Torres risk) and Morris to 4.5. You then have 6.0 mill for a mid which could be Ramsey/Buendia/Tielmans if you fancy Villa?

Why I haven't seen Kepa in almost any team posted here? Why people ignore him?

He was great even in Chelsea's awful last season, tends to get tons of save points and gets CS oftenly. That should even improve further this season and the fixtures at the start are juicy.

Think Chelsea are a “wait and see”. Some of their assets could be gold under Poch, but they will take time to gel.
Better value at £4.5m GK to start with IMO

But it can't be worse than last season surely? With those fixtures, it can be gold and you can't be too wrong.

I’d be surprised if they were as bad as last year. But they have sold Havertz, Mount, Kante, Kovacic, Azpi and Koulibailly. Half a team gone there. Got to be a wait and see for me, but good luck of you want to punt from GW1

Which combination of players will score more points?

    A) Tarkowski, Salah, Enciso
    B) Trent, Eze, Maddison

B for me. Horrible feeling A will be the answer though after 3-4 weeks/come first WC…..

    Salah Saka Martinelli Foden Diaz
    Haaland Gakpo

Spurs defender at 4.5. Did well in his first season by and large, but last season was poor. It would be a gamble but with the fixtures potentially worth it.

Few too many rotation risks in that XI for me. One or two of Foden, Diaz, Martinelli, Gakpo, but all 4 feels like heartbreak

Yeah fair. I’d argue that’s a bit too safe, though.

Gakpo and Diaz are likely in the starting XI.

With KdB out, Foden is too.

Martinelli will always be first choice imo.

Tend to agree. But Darwin, Jota, Alvarez and Havertz/Trossard is enough to make me think I want a nailed option in amongst it (Ode, Bruno, Mitoma, Mbemo etc)

Stumbled upon this 3mium bad boy -

    Pickford
    Gabriel - Porro - Varane
    Salah - Martinelli - Enciso - Andreas
    Haaland - Kane - DCL

    Areola - Archer - Bell - Beyer

    Thoughts? 🙂

      Honestly? Not keen…..

That bench is as thin as they come. And with Enciso & Marty potentially sharing minutes and Varane & DCL injury records, I don’t fancy your chances.

Has that got four forwards, or is there another Archer?
Regardless, I’d switch DCL and Andreas to a 4.5 and maybe Eze. I’ll be honest, Martinelli is my least favourite of the 8-9 mil bunch, seems overpriced to me (might just be because of the injury lay-off though).

      Price structure is ok.

      Personally think Andreas is fine.

However, Varane and DCL are injury prone. I think Wissa/Ferguson are good upfront instead; so many replacements for Varane.

My best ever finish(12k) was when I didn’t have Twitter, in gw1 I captained Laca and owned Richarlison and Bilva for their hauls vs Wolves and Arsenal away.
I didn’t know the template back the. But I’m sure they didn’t do the same

Honestly Twitter is a waste of time.

We are all just addicted and like to consume content because it’s interesting and easy.

Seasoned FPL managers should not be able to play the game on their own, and use a pinch of outside info from others on doubles,pre-season mins, and any other important knowledge E.g.,formation, injuries that might be otherwise hard to access…and that’s about it.

It’s all one big nonsense machine that spews out stuff -good and bad.

If you do bad on your own, Ohwell.

Hey guys this is my "first draft" what do we reckon?

I'm playing a 3-5-2 as you can see:

    Leno/Foster

    TAA Gabriel Shaw/Beyer Bell

    Saka Fernandes Maddison Mbeumo Eze

    Haaland (c) Jesus/Archer

    £1.0 itb

Give yourself a lovely benching headache and go Beyer/Bell to James. (Forster probably won’t be starting with Vicario in, so you might need a different bench keeper.)
