TAA, Salah and Haaland 451 draft with 5 penalty takers, very sh*t bench unless one of the 4.5m strikers gets a PL loan. Henry can be any 4.5m def. No Shaw, Jesus or City mid. Hope Onana is 5.0m.

    Onana
    TAA Gabriel Estupinan Henry
    Salah Saka Enciso Bruno Mbuemo
    Haaland(C)

    Areola Baldock Balogun Archer

    Thoughts?

Very nice, I'm on something similar, but without Trent.

Until a decent cheap forward option emerges, most of the value picks are in MF and defence so a 4-5-1 looks good to start with, provided you're picking nailed players and aren't relying on the bench too much.

And when Pep sits Haaland out for a rest, you will be a whale on the beach. Better with Enciso to a 4.5m and have Ndiaye or Pedro up front.

I reckon Mbuemo out, Wissa in with a 4.5 mid. Leaves another 0.5 for Rashford over Bruno.

Pep didn't rest Haaland until the league was sewn up and they were in the CL knockout stages.

If he gets injured, you just replace him.

I don't see too much risk with that, especially at the start of the season.

Anyone tempted by Mount over Bruno? 1.5m cheaper and likely to be playing further forward. He won’t have pens but could have some free kicks and corners. £7m seems cheap to me

    Ederson Areola

I love the team! Best I've ever seen!

I guess you have to be prepared to be very active at the start. Or, rather, prepared to be if opportunities arrive to push more money into the XI via surer bets than yuo currently have. But I'm not averse to your depth as you could hit on some bandwagons without needing to buy them for yourself (coz you already own them muahaha)

Not at all template, quite different to most in fact.

The MF is a bit too 'punty' for my liking, the forwards look great mind you.

Think it looks pretty good. Bit of a gamble with a couple of players but potentially worth it (and where's the fun in not taking a risk or two with your selection). My one suggestion would be to change Ederson, don't see the value in selecting him personally

    Pickford
    TAA Shaw Estupinan
    Saka Martinelli Rashford Foden Enciso
    Haaland Jesus
    4.0 4.5 4.0 4.0

Surely some good 4.0 defender options will emerge after preseason so I'm not too worried about that.

Looks good. Botman's fixtures are tough so playing him every week won't be ideal but sacrifices have to be made to afford that midfield.

I’d never plan a 4-5-1 formation. You’re compromising quality strikers for 4.5m defenders.

      1. fantasyfog
        • 11 Years

Which quality strikers are you thinking of? It's always a balancing act, figuring out which combos bring higher ceiling

        1. Pariße
          • 11 Years

From experience you’ll see that strikers and mids always outscore defenders, it wasnt the case I think only two seasons ago, when wingbacks started riding the new bonus points system. But overall 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 formations are optimal. To answer your question, this year my watchlist includes Jesus, Wilson/Isak, Watkins, Ferguson, Alvarez and Solanke.

There is one case from my personal experience that goes the other way though, on boxing day 17/18 I wildcarded an already good team and switched to a 4-4-2. That season, I went in to finish 60th in the world. 🙂

        2. Pariße
          • 11 Years

To prove the point, Ben White was the 2nd highest scoring defender last season at 156pts. Ten midfielders and five strikers scored more than that, now imagine the ceiling of a 4.5m defender, these usually score from 90-120 points, with some compromises, you’ve got a 150 pts forward there instead.

If they were playing opposite one another in a mirrored system, I would pick James for his quality and all-round threat and involvement, but I think Chilwell is Chilwell and will be played as such, whereas James could be used in a variety of ways, some of which would make him less likely to get attacking returns. So Chilwell, for now.

What interests me about him this season is that his backup (Gusto) is 4.0m. Just have both and when James inevitably breaks you have his replacement ready to step in.

I'm looking at maybe my first 3 transfers being Chelsea players if they start well.

There's my BRI GK > Kepa,
              Estu > a nailed 4.5 defender
Foden (when Kev returns) > Sterling
              Jesus > Nkunku

So only if most of these don't go through could I consider Gusto.

Forgot Sterling 🙁 I don't like the 2-3 Brighton player template. Their plum fixtures turn sour too fast and if anything else happens, force selling before price drops is going to cost easily -4 or even -8 or TV. However, scary not to have them also.

That's why I have double Brighton for the short term only. They will be my first transfers out - maybe 2FT in GW3 or staggered. By that time I'll have assessed Chelsea - and other assets who come good.

James over Chilwell if picking Gusto imo. At least that guarantees a starter. If you go Chilwell and he gets injured now you've got two non-playing Chelsea defenders.

Yeah I will likely start with James, Gusto & Nkunku

You can't have them both in your starting XI any week. Supposing James' minutes are managed
Gusto will be 1 pt merchant who may have take professional yellows sometimes.

Of course I wouldn't start both of them. Gusto would be permanently benched until James gets injured. James should either start or not play I would think.

If he doesn't get the move, he will continue his August draught. Remember how he just didn't bother during the whole autumn when he didn't get transfer to MCI.

Only the 4 goals in 4 games last season - might as well have no bothered showing up!

If you stare at that news ticker for 20 seconds, and then immediately look down at the back of your hand, it gives the optical illusion that your skin is crawling.

I'd hold off until we know if Brennan Johnson is joining the Bees front line.

Wissa for me atm. Midfield spots have more value and probably more good bandwagon to jump on.

    Urgent help needed,
    Would u rather:

    A) Rashford + Botman
    Or
    B) Bowen + TAA

    Any reasons why?

    Appreciate your help

Bowen & Trent purely because Trent is the best value in the game & going without him would petrify me

Plus if you're desperate for United cover you can get Mount for Bowen

    RMT

    Areola ( Leno )
    Saliba - Robertson - Shaw - James ( Bell )
    Eze - Saka - Bruno - Luis Diaz - ( Mbeumo )
    Nkunku - Haaland - ( Calvert Lewin )

Really like this outside of no TAA

Eze & Diaz risky but it's fun to have a few gambles.

      I'd prefer Zinchenko to Saliba.

Would be worried about not having Trent - possibly downgrade a midfielder & upgrade Robbo to Trent?

      Robertson probably isn't worth 6.5m.

I'd downgrade him to VVD to save 0.5m, or better still, just get Gabriel and save 1.5m.

Also I'd ditch DCL. You can play Mbuemo every week.

Rashford scored double the number of goals he did last season - Everton/Fulham/Leicester reject Lookman scored more goals than Hojlund for Atalanta.

          2018/19 - 10 goals, 8 assists
          2019/20 - 17 goals, 9 assists
          2020/21 - 11 goals, 11 assists
          2021/22 - 4 goals, 2 assists
          2022/23 - 17 goals, 5 assists

          More like one bad season.

    Thoughts on this draft?

    Flekken
    TAA, Gabriel, Estu, Porro
    Rashford, Saka, Martinelli, Foden
    Haaland, Nkunku

    Areola, Enciso, Baldock, Archer

Flexibility to go 352 with Enciso.
