What about kovacic if Im not worried about taking up a City spot as I dont generally buy City players (because of rotation).

I'm also intrigued by this option.... his previous season numbers are an eyesore but he has serious dribbling ability and if he gets an attacking role he could be another Gundogan... or even another Kinkladze!

Not a City fan but I don't think Pep will sell Gundogan, Mahrez AND Silva in the same window. Not without signing someone as a back up.

Would be mental to sell them all. A lot of experience and G/A there. If he stays, he could be the best 6.5 mid in the game.

    Current draft:

Onana (Areola, Turner if deal done by gw1)
    Estupinan, Gabriel, Chilwell (Baldock, Kaboré)
    Mitoma, Eze, Bruno, Saka, Rashford
    Jackson, Haaland (Mubama)

3.0 ITB. What would you do with the remaining budget?

That is a tough call! I would go with 1 based purely on the uncertainty around Jota's minutes. I feel Gakpo is more likely to start, but that's not really based on anything concrete haha.

My personal opinion: Man City and Arsenal by a mile; then United and Pool; then Villa, end of the certainties. Newcastle could do well, probably not as well as last term; i find Tottenham defence a bit overlooked due to the coach reputation, but they will 100% improve. Not too convinced by Brighton and Chelsea. No good vibes about Brentford. Of the lesser teams, Palace and Burnley could surprise.

Is 442 the way to enable Salah?

    Pickford (Areola)
    Gabriel Stones Estup Chilwell (4.0)
    Salah Saka Martinelli Rashford (4.5)
    Haaland Pedro (4.5)

Chilwell, Martinelli, Pedro could also be Cash, Mitoma, Watkins.

Yes, I’ve tried loads of combos and 442 brings it round to the strongest, only Pedro is the compromise and now he’s in most people’s teams.

You could actually start with Bruno and have the Salah funds ready for GW2 if that GW1 fix worries you, don’t think it makes the team weaker that’s for sure.

Well that's why I'm not sure. Never usually go into season with 4 defs but 4.5-5.5 in def over mf/attack gets you actual nailed point scorers, so makes budget bit easier

Estu,Stones & Gabriel seems pretty template, is Shaw instead of a 6.5 mid that much of a downgrade? I’m not sure it is when most will have Onana as a United defender, Johnstone or Pickford with Turner could be just as good.

I've had Salah draft for about a month and it comes down to:

4-4-2 with Stones or 3-5-2 with 2 x 6.5m mids. I'm going for the mids since Pep Roulette and the added minutes/clean sheet risk

I guess the big question is, regardless of the GW2 captaincy is are you prepared to WC in GW4 when Liverpools fix turn, if you’re not it might be an idea to start with him, if you are then surely you can ride out the first 4.

Chelsea, Villa & Newcastle aren’t that great & Haaland at home in GW2 is not a bad pick for the C, lots to think over.

This is quite similar to me except I've stayed away from Salah and have Saka, Eze and Mitoma (also have BrunoF instead of Rashford). It's basically a judgment call to make about whether Salah will outscore the other options over the first few gameweeks. In some ways I feel like it's better having Salah at the start to let you downgrade if it doesn't work rather than starting without him, but my gut says he won't average out the loss in quality across the team.

I'm more unsure this season than I have been going into previous seasons of FPL. Too many good options in midfield combined with what feels like not a lot of wiggle room in defence and attack. Here's what I have so far:

    Onana (Pickford)
    Gabriel Estu Stones (Botman) (Beyer)
    Saka Martinelli BrunoF Mitoma Eze
    Haaland Watkins (J.Pedro)

    1.0m ITB

Thoughts? I'm thinking that I leave myself routes to Chilwell or to other Chelsea players in FWD for GW2 but I'm not happy about lack of Liverpool players.

Pretty safe choices to open the season with...not sure who you lose to get Liverpool in it, but Liverpool are a bit of a lotto if you ask me

Yeah that was my thought. I don't fancy their defence and so it's Salah or no one cause rotation is a bit too much of an issue in attack. Salah coming in downgrades Watkins to a 4.5, brings in J.Pedro and also drops Mitoma or Eze down (I'm unwilling to lose the other 3), but you're spot on - there's not a good downgrade option.

Now that Nkunku is out for 4 months does it make N.jackson a better option than Watkins if 1m can be used to get Maddison?

Who's going to create chances for Jackson? Fullbacks?

Either way, steer clear of Maddison.

Maddison looks central to spurs plans..we know they are going to be very attacking

          But they're still spurs

Even as an Arsenal fan this is a strange argument. Spurs have a good squad, im not saying they can win a trophy but can definitely get goals

But they were Leicester, and he's been outstanding nonetheless.

Who knows! Watkin in the PL is a known quantity. You're paying £1m less for the risk.

      Seems a reasonable risk, though.
