Gosh I hate these decisions. I’m going to absolutely hate life if I bench my more expensive goalkeeper and he gets nine saves and three bonus vs Spurs, and Forest ship a random goal. I guess it comes down to which decision will annoy you more if it goes wrong. United’s defense was poor last night, but I expect a reaction from ten Hag. Can we trust Forest defense, even v SHU?

Not 100%, but I felt they were well organised against the Arsenal attack. Forest's weakness is at the other end.
Basically, you've got Good defence v flaccid attack
        versus
Iffy defence v Potent attack (well Maddison, not nec Richarlison)

That is a fair point. I guess I’m thinking Onana’s floor is higher (expecting saves and at least 3 points) and also his ceiling (an 11-pointer could happen), whereas with Turner I would only expect a 2- or 6-point outcome.

I don't observe this closely, but my feeling is about the same number started last year, and over the weeks 2 or 3 million teams appeared, many of which were multiple players or cowboys making new weird teams to try to be one-week wonders.

Trouble is they were a bit like Everton albeit playing a much stronger opponent away from home, both looked like they should have scored a few and won the game but both lost 1-0 and left the impression to me they'll struggle without signing a striker

Agreed. Wolves should not be classified as an ‘easy’ game this season, they seemed well organised in defense and dangerous on the counter. But yeah, the Brighton game will be interesting

I’m benching Eze this week. I have to ask why on earth do you have those 2 GKs?! Seems a serious budgetary waste at this stage of the season particularly, but you wouldn’t do that further down the line!

Either way, it’s a coin toss as I expect them both to concede.

B1. I think there's a good chance Palace score against Arsenal so Saliba would not pick up many points. Onana and Ederson could both concede, but Onana will probably pick up more save and bonus points.

No idea the right place to ask this and I know it's a total newbie question, but it's not in any how to article: how do I create a watchlist of players in FFS which I'm considering transferring into my team in the future?

My non Salah draft which would have had Onana, Chilwell, Mbeumo, Bruno & Watkins is already 7 points ahead of my actual team which has Pickford, Shaw, Salah, Chukwuemeka, Wissa. The plan was always to ditch Salah after GW2 (Salah & 4.5m to Watkins & mid up to 9m), but should I stick to plan and captain Salah this GW (which is why I got him in the first place), or admit I've made a mistake and captain Haaland ?

    1. Jafooli
      • 14 Years

I’m probably captaining Haaland, but will keep Salah as wouldn’t be sure what to spend the money on…so many decent fair price options and only two players over 9.0m in the whole game, so may as well keep both premiums…

Surprised to see my RMT has Osula starting ahead of Pedro. Anyone see much of Osula at the weekend? Starting Pedro either way but curious if Osula could be a genuine starter fpl wise for certain games

    1. Sir Michael Taker
      • 11 Years
      2 years, 6 months ago

They don't have many options with injuries to Brewster, Jebbison and McBurnie and they sold N'Diaye. He might remain an option anyway because McBurnie was the only one of that trio to get serious gametime in the Championship which goes a long way to explaining why Sheffield United won't be a decent FPL option this season although I can see the appeal of a 4.5m striker. FWIW my side (Derby) had Will Osula on loan last season and he looked decent in patches but Paul Warne didn't fancy him much as he was too much a diamond in the rough so he was mainly an impact sub and this was in League 1 remember so I'd be surprised if he was suddenly up to being a PL starter without the limited options up top.

I suspect RMT looks at Joao Pedro and assesses his chances of starting at 50% and Osula at 100%. I'll use my own judgement every time and expect Joao Pedro to start.

That is my thinking exactly. Which failed outcome will bother me more, is my current thinking. Six points from Turner on the bench is slightly annoying, but benching my more expensive GK only for him to pull off nine saves and bonus hurts more

I'll probably be in the minority here but I hate trying to predict clean sheets so I'd just play the more expensive player as you say it'll annoy you less. I can see Onana getting more save points but that's as far as I'd want to go with predictions. I think Forest will beat Sheff Utd but will they get a clean sheet? Not sure.

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Same. Onana higher floor (3pts) and higher ceiling (11-pointer not unlikely), whereas with Turner I expect either 2 or 6 points

        1. Sir Michael Taker
          • 11 Years
          2 years, 6 months ago

I think if you own a 4.5 or Areola I can see the merit in thinking about Turner but for me and again its probably just my way of thinking as I always go 4.5m keeper if you've chosen one of the more premium keepers you just play them all the time don't you? Would you have played Onana in GW2 before GW1 if you knew Turner was a starter? I think if you're saying no to that and you're reacting purely on the fixtures not how Man Utd's defence and to a lesser extent how Spurs attack looked in GW1 then fair enough. The whole debates quite a minor one in the grand scheme of things what's the most either will score? Both probably fine options this week.

On the Liverpool side, you mean? True. That one missing piece, a proper #6 is having knock-on effects all over the pitch. Mac A out of position > Gakpo out of position > can't start Darwin. It puts Trent out of sorts having a weak defensive midfield.

IF they get a good DM in it will get fixed, but even that will take a match or three.

As for United, they weren't at the races last night. I could see areas where there was a lack of preparation on the training ground. Much of that should be fixed over the week by ETH, so I'm willing to give Bruno and Rashford another game or more.

Not sure yet but was contemplating ignoring Liverpool and hopping on the Mbeumo train which would allow a move from Archer to Jackson for Chelsea’s good fixtures in GW3

Sounds like a plan. I'm looking to move on Jackson at the same time.

Well at least I already own him, he looked sharp and although he didn’t get me any point (should have) he looked very sharp.

Very accurate analysis on Liverpool. Still afraid of that delicious fixture though. Didn’t they win 8-0 last season?

            9-0.
Afraid? No Salah? Yeah, a bit. But looking at the state of both Liverpool and Bournemouth, I'd say there's no chance of a repeat result. Liverpool to win by 1 or 2 goals is more likely.

Nine from top 10 OR all played BB, the other played TC….

Of course. I racked up a ton with a BB - couldn't get there without a chip.

        It's a marathon, not a sprint, innit.

Having said that - one bird in the hand and all that jazz...

    Good to go?

    Ederson
    Chilwell - Saliba - Estupinan
    Rashford - Saka - Martinelli - Fernandes
    Haaland - Jackson - Pedro

    Turner - Eze - Baldock - Kabore

    Eze over Bruno?

Easy save? Start Turner or Johnstone? If Reece James is fit might make an "aggressive" move to bring him in for gw3

    Turner
    Chilwell Estupinan Saliba
Salah (c) Saka Rashford Mbeumo Diaby
    Haaland JP

    Johnstone; Udogie, Mubama, Kabore

    Thoughts on this WC team?

If I dropped Mitoma to a 4.5 I would have 6.5 for a forward such as Alverez/Mketiah/Wissa and potentially enough to upgrade a keeper or defender.

    Turner | Areola
    Chillwell | James | Estu | Baldock | Beyer
    Saka | Salah | Mitoma | Mbuemo | Maddison
    Watkins | Haaland | 4.5

      Over a season, 352 would beat 433 I think

        343 even

My plan is to bring Eze in for Mitoma once the Arsenal game is over.

I fully expect either or both of Chillwell and James to be injured shortly so the double-up is likely to be broken up before long, but am sure it will be fun whilst it lasts.

Why are people thinking of shipping out good players after one GW?

Patience, surely, the likelihood is the ones that blanked last weekend will score points this weekend, and vice versa?

They did. Posty has a unique strategy for his fullbacks, pushing them into #8 positions. Royal looked the more dangerous. Bear in mind neither will get you a clean sheet.

Controversial opinion after just 1 game, but Rashford to Diaby is very tempting.
