it's a serious point as well, he might be saved for the Champions League.

Newcastle have decent enough league games but play in Milan 3 days later at 5.45 then have PSG and Dortmund and Man City again in the league cup which changes the complexion somewhat.

Yes, Fulham are an advantageous fixture for Luton. You may be hopping on during the perfect time with the double ahead. JP is a hard worker and solid on the ball though he does lack quality and technique to convert, IMO. Ansu Fati is in the equation now and Welbeck / Ferguson are also competition depending on either the 9 or 10 position. Both on pens too.

DeZe said Fati gets gametime this GW, so JP's minutes are uncertain. Morris is nailed and has 4 viable games in the next 3 GWs.

Pedro might start and Fati gets the second half or last 35 mins or something similar.

RDZ is happy to rotate, including his goalkeepers week to week.

both Diaby and Awoniyi are strong options.

I've got Diaby and he's more likely to haul but the consistency of Awoniyi is also tempting.

I think you've got a well balanced squad.

            but no Son?

well that's bold and might afford you Son.

the thing with Gusto is even with James back he'll probably get 20 mins and match the appearance point of the bench fodder and offer a potential for assists.

Reece Burke at Luton offers attacking threat too.

there's been press conference info and Chelsea helpfully publish an injury list and he's on it, in for physio work etc.

could be back in a few weeks I guess for a couple of games or so.

even then Gusto will get appearance points and plenty of starts too.

I think it's even referenced in the Team News press conference article on here.

I've seen it on Twitter too, it's a regular weekly thing but nothing to hand.

Is Botman really worthwhile? Doesn't offer a whole lot in attack and Newcastle clean sheets seem unreliable, particularly with big midweek games. If last season is anything to go by, Trippier would be worth the extra for his attacking potential.

      1. Andy_Social
        • 13 Years

He's the right price for a rotating defender. At 5m you want to play Schar in every fixture and I don't have enough confidence in the Newcastle defence to do that.

I get that but in what games would you bench Botman in a rotation? he has great fixtures for a while. Perhaps its more if he gets rotated out due to Champions League that you have another defender you can bring in.

I'm using my WC now so am planning well ahead. I'm getting Botman and benching him this GW. My overall strategy is to rotate cheap defenders, so I'm going for clean sheets rather than paying more for the occasional attacking return.

I all. I was all set to save the FT this week but starting to think there is more upside in getting Trippier for Colwill. Thoughts on the below:

    Turner (BUR)
Chilwell (bou), Colwill (bou), Porro (SHU)
Rashford (BHA), Saka (eve), Maddison (SHU), Foden (WHU), Eze (avl)
    Haaland c (whu), Jackson (bou)

Pickford (ARS) // Joao Pedro (mun), Estupinan (mun), Baldock (tot)

    1FT
    2.0 ITB

    Colwill -> Trippier?

The plan is to get Joao Pedro -> Morris in GW7 benching Eze (mun), then Saka -> Son GW8. No plan for GW6 at the moment (possibly save a FT).

This was the Klopp press conference bit I saw yesterday.

The second Twitter thread is bizarre too, he doesn't like the journalist.

We're in 'same old, same old' territory when trying to second-guess Klopp's attacking line-up (Salah aside).

I'm guessing Salah with Gakpo and Jota or does that not work, so Diaz on the left and Jota benched along with Nunez?

He's got 6 hours to work it out. He's probably checking his watch now in a hotel in Shropshire or somewhere.

It's beyond ridiculous when they complain about TV slots when it's TV revenue on a global basis that's fuelled lots of it. The football inflation and tens of millions becoming billions.

When I was in Thailand and Viet Nam every bar was showing this game around 6.30pm on Saturday evening. A bit harder to find in Laos or parts of Cambodia back then but in the cities it's wall to wall.

It's literally paid for his watch. He's a bit sneering in this one but there's form with the jouno apparently from the Athletic.

It's James Pearce asking, and the question is labelled in a way which is implying that they don't handle the early kick off well. Klopp is responding to that in not the best mood, but you have to take the context that Klopp wants to play his best team and he can't due to the crazy schedule. And Liverpool are punished hard with two out of four possible early kick offs after IB this year. Yes, they can buy players who are only European's but that's not how football works these day. Klopps point of you is that the schedule is damaging the players health and in consequence, the quality of play, which should be in the broadcasters interest as well. And of course there are some elements of selfishness to it, but when Klopp sees his team having early kick off and he knows that he can't play full strength the chances of points lost is bigger and that's costly for Liverpool, as money comes from what you achieve through the season.
There's no point in playing 12.30 when the slot in the evening is open, and that would been better for all parties (except those who lives in different time-zones, but that's a problem which are difficult to solve anyway imo).

I was surprised to see him omitted from the Team Line-ups in the tab above, so I'm less confident than I was. I'd say the City defence have a high proportion of tricky fixtures upcoming and he doesn't have an attacking upside, so I'm picking cheaper options with easier fixtures.

    Haaland Alvarez Ferguson

Good to see a WC draft as non-template as mine. I only had Haaland of the Top 10 owned until Maddison shoved himself up the list.

I'd be concerned that two of your strikers are rotation risks.

Agree. Ive now done a late night pivot - probably to template slightly?

        Ø —> Salah

Morris AND Foster - bold! Too much detrius to hold through GW5 and 6 then both want jettisoning after the DGW. I think just Morris (better fixtures) is enough. Foden is another Peptation risk, of course.

From GW8 West Ham fixtures are great so just to get past City and LFC but their attack is good and more than capable of scoring.

I may even double up Bowen with JWP from GW8.

By the time Hammers' fixtures turn for the better, Kudus could have established himself as a bargain, so I'm holding off until then.

I would say pretty likely he's benched, as Gakpo and Jota had less travel and were back Wednesday. My guess is that Liverpool midfield would be
Szoboszlai, Endo and Jones, and strikers would be Gakpo, Jota and Salah.

      Alvarez or Awoniyi.

when you look at the Forest fixtures they are not bad and there's no European fixtures.

But Alvarez should start as second striker I think and play off Haaland.

Pedro may well start too but he'll likely share time with that new Fati that Brighton have signed on loan from Barcelona (I think).
