He really likes that acronym doesn't he? Much more difficult for him to say in that Ulster accent as well - FOMO.
The impression I get is 'The General' is a reactive one rather than a proactive one. Very careful. But that approach means he is likely to have a poor team value and if he wants Salah/Trippier etc that is when it will start to tell.

Help required from the hive mind! Last question kind of bottomed out a bit

    1) swap Gabriel Jesus to Alvarez and upgrade chillwell to trippier
    2) keep Jesus and buy Alvarez by downgrading Bruno Fernandes to Neto
    3) ignore Alvarez and just get Newcastle cheap defence cover

Alvarez is a consistent returner, and I think he's a really solid option for everyone.

I've sold Chilwell this week and brought in Newcast'e's Burn (4.5) owing to his low ownership, and it gives me enough cash to upgrade Son in Salah in a couple of weeks. Daft of me to bring in Son on the back of a one week haul. Salah is super pricey, but his consistency is gilt-edged.

    Areola, Turner
    Trippier, Chilwell, Estu, Udogie, Cash
    Rashford, Saka, Mbeumo, Doku, JWP
    Haaland, Alvarez, Watkins

    WC team thoughts?

    Pre-emptive replies;

Turner - Not fussed, Areola basically set and forget. If he concedes he'll probably make save points
Doku - Punt as it stands, think he can be super explosive, cheaper than Foden and I think he'll start
Watkins - Four attacking returns in his last five it's only time until he becomes good
Salah - If I pick up Salah I have to lose one of those five in the middle and I like them all, along with Watkins who would become Archer/Fodder. I'd rather the flexibility with having the benching headache each week and picking one of Watkins / MID 5 instead of playing 3-5-2 every week with no flexibility because to lose a midfielder would mean starting Archer or another defender.

        The alternative that I'd be (barely) comfortable with, would be;

        Areola, Turner
        Burn*, Chilwell, Estu, Udogie, Cash
        Salah*, Saka, Diaby*, Doku, JWP
        Haaland, Alvarez, Wissa*

Keeping Chilwell on WC is an interesting choice.

I think you're spread too thin. Salah necessitates some restructuring and fodder bench otherwise you have no ability to move for high performing mids at a higher price bracket.

What happens if Rashford hits 15 points against Burnley and has CRY and BRE coming up? How could you possibly get him with that structure you have?

What if Saka and Arsenal go on a big run. What then?

Spurs. How do you get Maddison or Son in when the fixtures swing for Spurs in GW8?

      1. Zenith UK
        • 9 Years
        2 years, 5 months ago

I think Pochettino will realise his mistake and start Chilwell again.
I have both Rashford and Saka in that team so I already have them?
If Maddison goes crazy it wouldn't be hard to downgrade Trippier to Burn and upgrade Doku/JWP to Maddison?

Unless this is a reply to my Salah team? In which case this is the point I'm making as to why I don't really want Salah in my WC team.

TBH I'd have Salah in the WC team. He's going to be really hard to get later and this is your one chance to restructure to fit him. If you don't get him now, you should almost commit to no Salah for a good while.

Yeah, see that's why your reply confused me Camzy. So without him I have the players you said to make sure I have, Rashford/Saka, but with him the team really starts to weaken (IMO).

Still doing my no Haaland strategy, feels like last week was a step in the right direction with 71 points. My team for next week is:

    Onana
    Digne-Botman-Robertson
    Richarlison-Saka-Salah-Gross-Bruno Fernandes
    Hojlund-Watkins

    Turner-Saliba-Woodrow-Baldock

    0 FT, 3.5 ITB.

Also trying to do a sub 20% strategy (only player I cheated with at start of season was Saka, Onana, and Salah).

Could Doku be a better Option than Alvarez this week or am I overthinking it?

Just thinking Pep could possibly give Alvarez a rest this GW

    1. Zenith UK
      • 9 Years
      2 years, 5 months ago

Alvarez won't get rested. If he does it'll be in the Carabao vs Newcastle. Both will be super tired after midweek UCL and weekend PL fixtures, even Eddie will rest some as his focus will 100% be PL & UCL this year.

That being said, Doku also starts for me. City have too many injuries and he's even said a week to 10 days for Grealish's return. So Doku left, Foden right, Alvarez behind Haaland and a double pivot of Rodri and Nunes/Phillips. There's nobody else to take Doku/Foden's spots unless he plays a kid in there, which I don't think he will.

That being said, I'm going Haaland, Alvarez, Doku this week FWIW.

Wait until the press conference at least, alternatively get a Newcastle defender in afterwards if you are still not happy.

Yes. If he's fit - there do seem to be some unsubstantiated rumours around a knock/injury

An impression I get from 'The General's' article he seems to think that making changes would disrupt the harmony of his squad.

But fortunately in FPL it is not likely that a virtual icon (representing a player) with ever contact the defence forces HR department!

Chilwell/Cash is your judgement call. At the moment I'm starting Digne, benching Chilwell
