Areola's a decent keeper but I've given up on West Ham getting CS - although the fixtures favour them the next few weeks.

Yeah I have this awesome rotation with Leno, but neither keep any cleanies, even if they have good home games.

Very easy this stage of year

Last year I had a 150 pts heads up (yes) by gw 18, and missed 3 gws due to work, those alone cost me 90 pts, ended up losing last 2 gws.
So mistakes can halve the distance or not more.

Also, another year i was 40 points behind with 3 weeks yet to play. Still won due to getting harvey barnes (and captaining him).

You could use all sorts of tricks in mini leagues.

Klopp in July when asked about Nunez: "The ticket into the team will be the readiness to defend. I’ve never heard about a team being really successful with sloppy defending. It doesn’t happen."
    ...
"It’s the same for Darwin and all the other strikers. I know all about the quality they have and they need to do both – defend and be influential in all offensive situations"

Klopp after Saturday: "The standout in this defending was really Darwin because it’s all about [that] Brentford wants to play long balls, that’s one thing, but you need to know when, and we can only influence that by one player, when you start the pressing from the centre you have to go for the goalie without getting the ball, they pass to the centre-half and you follow that, so the work-rate was insane."

    Quite a turnaround

    Who has to go?

    Get an ARS def.

Diaby or Gordon out for the likes of Bowen, Palmer or Saka?

1 FT, 1 mill. in the bank

    Areola
    Andersen Cash Trippier
    Diaby Gordon Salah Mbeumo Son
    Haaland Alvarez

    Flekken Archer Tsimikas Kabore

Not sure you need Arsenal def this week, would probably got rid of Cash if I had to. Bowen from mids imo.

Kabore out first 😉 Tsimikas could be an issue, but besides 1 pt I at least want 0.1 million from him. Cash is on the chopping list also, timing may depend on PP. However, I can see him punishing sellers immediately and see a lot of whining here 😉
I'd rather keep Gordon long term, but Diaby until fixture change. Sorry, not much help 🙁

Most likely keeping FT GW13 and having my eye on GW14 Mbeumo in.
Which option would currently look the best?

    1) Son to Mbeumo
    2) Alvarez 4.3 to Archer Mbeumo
    3) Watkins 4.3 to Mbeumo 5.9

Trippier is an excellent player and FPL asset, however I feel that given the injuries at Newcastle atm, it might be better to wait on trippier until perhaps gw15/16 when fix begin to turn nice for them again.

I like and own Gordon and he will be great for their fix turn and can be effective now with two B2B home games.

I feel though that it might be better, for now at least, to go for option B.
I dunno about Zinchenko's xMins going forward though, so perhaps some more informed can help you there. Bowen is a great asset, good form+fix and could be given more opportunities to play centrally in future aswell

It's going to be VvD vs Haaland. Is Haaland too fast?

    1. Nate(U)dog(ie)

He's too fast for most. If Liverpool are organised like they were last season at Anfield (aided by TAA being unavailable) then it might not matter, but they were certainly helped by Pep's overthinking in putting KDB at RW and nullifying his usual threat and the threat City normally had at RW

It's annoying that there aren't any desirable defenders right now. Tired of Cash and Porro.

Reece? Incredibly risky with the festive fixtures coming; very tempted though.

Dalot or Maguire? Fixtures about to turn.

Not interested in Newcastle with all those injuries.

City? Nasty fixtures and a blank coming.

    1. Baps Hunter

Reece James doesn't come without risk and he isn't cheap. Every man and his dog is scraping money now since going without Haaland and Salah isn't sound option. Many have also been burned with him before. However, there is huge upside and haul potential. The issue is to afford him and Trippier + decent back up defenders. No risk, no reward. I am planning to get him when the time is right.

      1. Salarrivederci
        • 9 Years

        Agreed.

I am 3 moves away from this team though (been planning to go 4-5-1) for a little while: Need to do Morris, Turner & Tsimikias -> Semenyo, Leno & James

        Leno - Areola
TAA - Trippier - White- James - Taylor
        Salah - Son - Mbeumo - Eze - Palmer
        Haaland - Archer - Semenyo

    2. Nate(U)dog(ie)
      • 5 Years
      2 years, 3 months ago

Agreed, James is the only one I have any major interest in, but I'll need to see a few consistent runs of games from him first. But he's been pushing up extremely high in the last two games which is making the punt feel worthwhile (especially as Digne has done nothing since I brought him in)

Hi everyone, I hope everyone is well and have had a good gw12!

I know it is extremely early but nevertheless
My initial plan was to get son in via Darwin +Diaby to Archer +Son but I am considering other moves now aswell.

    Current team
    Areola, Sanchez
    Cash, Lascelles, Gabriel, Andersen, Tsimikas
    Salah, Saka, Gordon, Bowen, Diaby
    Haaland, Watkins, Darwin

    0.1 itb
    2FT

    Which would you do :
    A)Stick to the plan Darwin+ Diaby --> Archer+ Son
    B) Sanchez+Gabriel.--> Fodder + Saliba
    C) Sanchez + Gabriel+ Diaby --> fodder+ Saliba+ Mbeumo (-4)
    D) (-8) Sanchez +Gabriel+ Diaby+Darwin --> Fodder, Saliba, Son,Archer

    D) is only mentioned if my team absolutely needs Son.
Leaning towards B or C but unsure and would appreciate any thoughts

No reason to sell Gabriel for Saliba. Historically Gabriel has been bigger goal threat and their underlying stats before last week were pretty similar. These sideways transfers are usually doomed.

The trouble with following advice is we end up with two team templates - the 343 and the 352 with virtually all the same players.
Generally, If you own Son then keep imo, but if you don't then assess his performance without Maddison over the next couple of matches rather than making drastic changes to accommodate him.

      1. OleGGMU
        • 7 Years

Thanks alot mate for taking the time to reply.
Yeah I agree about the two templates emerging and very little breathing space regarding differentials, meaning , imo, that planning and some measure of risk ( sensible and calculated) is going to be essential to make gains.

I feared not owning Son for gw13 and hence planned to have 2fts to get him in , but Darwin's good mins and form added to their post gw13 fix makes him a hard sell for now.

Keeping Darwin would mean getting Son in for Bowen around gw17 when spurs fix are quite nice.
Darwin is still an xMins risk but could be worth it. Will have to monitor him though am I being taken in by the romance of the fixtures though?

Not for me, think mykolenko is far outperforming his threat

    A) Diaby -> JWP (FT)
    B) Diaby, Cash -> Bowen, Branthwaite (-4)
    C) Diaby, Watkins, Chukwuemeka -> Bowen, Mbeumo, Archer (-8)

      Is Diaby injuried?

I really like C I don’t fancy villa at all going forward. Away against Bournemouth and they’re terrible away then home to Arsenal and city and away to Brentford and spurs too. I see Watkins averaging fewer than 5 across those games. Diaby and Cash I think everyone agrees are disposable

Bottomed: I am just bored now. And I have just made my first mistakes of the season (which I admit and can be seen below)

      Copy paste error 😉 :

      Areola / Turner
      Trippier, Cash, Gabriel, Andersen, Tsimi
Salah, Son, Bowen, Palmer / Nakamba
      Haaland, Watkins, Nketiah

1 ft, 1.6 itb, planning to roll(?)

The question was meant to be that should I just forget Saka and prioritise players like Darwin, Nkunku, R James and Mbeumo over him? The only obvious way to get Saka is to sell Son, but it's too early for that now imo. Depends on Son's form naturally.

Wouldn't worry too much about having Saka, not passing the eye-test at all atm. and Son could explode against anyone.

Yes, not happy to sell Bowen or Son for him. Mbeumo has already more pts than him and is much cheaper. I don't know why he was so hyped since many players have had one very good game.

YES... as an arsenal fan, his and our attacking threat is a worry... you already have arsenal forward (although Tross form looks to threaten that).

I'd say use those funds and consider fixtures ahead...

        What was the mistake, Nketiah?

Strong team tbh and bench is stacked so should have no issues rolling

    2 FTs

Should I keep Douglas Luiz or go
    A) Palmer
    B) Adingra

Should I keep Cash or get...
    C) Myolenko
    D) Mitchell
    E) Maguire

Should I keep Areola or get...
    F) Onana
    G) Johnstone

I'm thinking EF or EG. Any ideas?

      Eh.. I wouldn't do either.

I'd keep Gabriel.. I don't know why you are looking at wolves defence. They have only 1 clean sheet all season and that was against Everton. They couldn't even get a CS against Luton or Sheffield United. I wouldn't buy a wolves defender right now.

And B seems very sideways. I'd personally look to change elsewhere.

Binning Mitoma would be my priority. I said a few weeks ago I think Brighton attack are a clear avoid. There are so many options at the same price point.

I think Salah is in general, the better captain pick the Haaland. Mainly because he is a mid and gets more points, cs also. He has also returned in more games than Haaland so far (10 to Haalands 8). This is a small sample size, but unless its very obvious to cap Haaland, I think Salah is the better pick.

This weekend, Haaland needed an extra assist just to match Salahs brace. That says it all really.

I don't have the stats to back this up but seems like to me Salah can score in any game against any opponent whereas it feels like Haaland prefers playing against certain type of team. If I was doing set and forget for 38 weeks, I'd perma cap Salah.

yea, exactly that. Salah is just so consistent. Haaland I guess more explosive, but Salah can be too. Given the points difference, Salah edges it I think in probably like 65% of situations. This weekend however, I may still cap Haaland.

I think both will score this week. Slightly favour Salah as he always gets the better of whoever City play at LB and VVD seems to have the better of Haaland so far.

I'm currently on Salah but will give Bowen some thought as well. Good week to go different, I don't think anyone will be over 100% EO.

I considered Bowen a few times, but unlikely he gets double digits. I think he is due though. Not had one since GW3 somehow. Miracle that he has not braced or had a hatti frankly, but also a bit of a concern.

He kind of reminds me of Wil5on you know. If Bowen was bumped into a forward on FPL, I think they would be on similar returns, if Wil5on wasn't injured all the time.

It is Salah 101 - 96 Haaland now. If we talk about perma C for 38 weeks, the one who gets more points wins. In form KdB might create so much that Haaland becomes better option.

Yea they are so close. Fair play to Haaland lol. Its just those extra mid points I'm struggling to see past.

I wouldn't cap Salah every week, just most.

Would you do Diaby to Mbeumo this week for free? Hope Mbeumo's price holds this week but doesn't look like it.

Diaby should score well against Spurs, but Mbeumo from GW14 looks a fantastic pick.

    1. SalahFingers

I wouldn't personally. I'd prefer Diaby and just keep him for the 2 tough games out of the next 6. The other 4 fixtures look fine for him.

Remember with Mbeumo that he has a blank in GW18 aswell as being against Arsenal next week. He's good, but I'd only go for him if it's not going to cause you transfer heading before the blank.

If I had either, I'd probably just keep.
