If you had a wildcard this gameweek, who would your priorities be? Lucky enough to exploit Haaland's potential injury (well happy enough to just miss one GW with him if he's available GW17)

Interestingly Saka is one that I'm not fond of because it just feels like he doesn't want to haul? But a haul from him could be a death sentence to be fair.

Trying to figure out where to get the points without going too template is a hard one but the template is there for a reason I guess...

Check out the fixtures after Brighton and Liverpool - he should play the full 90, and even if he isn’t explosive, he should tick along. Plus, where is the money going to go once the international stuff starts and if Haaland is still out?

If I was WCing this week (which I still may, although I feel like a few different factors are aiming me away from it as well as the logic behind it), I'd do:

Turner, Gabriel, Kabore, Digne, Haaland, Osula ➡️ Leno*, TAA, Moreno*, Livramento*, Solanke, Jimenez

      (Rest of squad on -4:

      Neto
      Porro Branthwaite*
      Doucoure Saka Son Salah Kudus
      Watkins)

Leno isn't necessary (have Neto), Moreno is essentially a one-week punt while Digne is out (and would have to be dealt with afterwards likely given Digne's good form), and Dan Burn is supposedly back tomorrow so Livramento wouldn't be the long-term move I had hoped. Essentially then the only moves I "need" for this week would be TAA and Jimenez/Solanke. So not really worth it I feel even if Haaland being out leaves me needing to go -8 or play Osula

I wanted to be self indulgent on the back of this hot topic, but it’s good to reflect on what happened over the time, especially as many in the comments (and also on socials) were very against it:

    https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2023/09/27/who-has-the-worst-fixtures-from-fpl-gameweek-7-onwards/?hc_page=1&hc_sort_by=comment_date#hc_comment_26130821

I took Haaland out in my gameweek 8 wildcard. After that hot topic, I captained:
    Morris - 10
    Salah - 15
    Son - 14
    Salah - 8
    Salah - 2
    Salah - 16
    Son - 2
    Salah - 5
    Salah - 3
    Salah - 13

Over that time, Haaland scored 122 as a captain, compared to 176 over this timeframe, and only outscored the alternative captaincy 3 times.

Captaincy isn’t the only factor, as I’ve been able to jump on an expensive squad with Trent, the big midfielders and expensive forwards.

Did I get lucky? Yes to some extent, the 2 injuries were fortunate in my favour. I’d also say I was a bit unlucky, especially Son vs Villa. I never considered getting him back in, even after the 33 points over 3, as if I was going to, it would have been for Luton, or after the blank.

Would I do it again? Yes. Whether it’s City being a bit off it, or loads of other reasons, it was an opportunity to take.

Would I recommend it? Not if you fret about who you don’t own. Having son, Saka, Salah Trent, trippier, Darwin, Watkins and Fernandes throughout that time helped me mentally mitigate those issues in my head.

    Pre wildcard - 1.2 million
Current - 16k. I’ve no doubt that dodging the high eo has helped that.

No player is ever essential all season!

I think on balance it did, it was when ivanovic went mental at the start of a season as flying full back. Didn’t help my season as I was fairly new to FPL and was relying on Fifa and football to see me through!

Well played squishy. Not sure why you're getting stick for this; seems a fine point to evaluate the move (and I like me a long post, as long as you've got something to say). Only wish I hadn't reneged on this strategy too early / timed it better

All is good, it’s probably asking for some since there was a definite shift to people considering no Haaland strategy as elitist, so I expected it.
It was enjoyable looming back at the comments where people were completely ruling it out as an option!

Reckon it is worth bringing Solanke first this week and Watkins before GW18? Other option would be Watkins this week and Raul before GW18. Just feel Solanke vs Luton is better than Watkins vs Brentford.

Really depends on the rest of your team and plans for the blank.

If Haaland's out, I plan to replace him with Watkins, hold Trippier, then buy Haaland back in GW 19 or 20.

Needs to lose 1-2 million owners. I think he'll do that but maybe not before deadline on Friday unless news comes out that he's definitely missing the weekend (unlikely with Pep). Next week he has a blank and that seems to have a big effect on negating price drops. I estimate he'll lose a lot of ownership but his price won't drop to the same proportion. Expect a lot of complaints on here...

For me it was a perfect opportunity to restructure my team - something I've wanted to do for ages. I've sold Haaland and Trippier this week - will be bringing in Watkins (who I've never owned) and Saka (who I sold on my wildcard in week 6).
I'll then have enough money in the bank to upgrade Alvarez to Haaland when he's back fit.
I'm really happy with the moves and his injury has finally meant I can get Watkins, Saka and easily get Haaland back.

If I do sell him I'm just keeping the money in the bank to go straight back to him in 19.

Hell yeah I'm going wild - I need a bunch of hits to field 11 this week so might as well splash the money around (welcome back Trent & Watkins). Will sell Salah to get Haaland back in 20, no problem

Our defense isn't great right now but you can only go so wrong at 4.1m (soon to be 4m?)

Worth noting most of February/March has tough defensive fixtures, however.

What's going on with Matty Cash?
He was the main right back in the start of the season and scoring two goals in a match. Suddenly he's out. He's amongst the defenders with the highest XGI and he's only played 90 minutes last 4 matches.

This is not fantasy related in the slightest, so I apologize. But I will share a cleaning tip because it may be useful to some of you.

So I have a chrome plated towel rail in my bathroom. It had started corroding badly, looked terrible. I tried to clean it a few times but no luck. Figured it needs replacing.

Anyway, I tried again today and I thought I would google it. Turns out that if you get a piece of tin foil, make into a ball and make it wet with water, it will rub all the rust and corrosion off so easily.

I was skeptical at first, but honestly the think looks brand new again. Its a chemical reaction between the aluminum foil and the chrome plating on the towel rail. Its so fast.

If you have a slightly corroded or rusty one, try it.
