5th midfielder? Budget no issue but ideally £6m max as I need to get Haaland back at some point.

    I already have;

    - Foden
    - Palmer
    - Saka
    - Bowen

      Elanga

Or for a little over, Groß

Palmer/Olise fixtures rotate nicely up to gw29

All depends on when and if you'd want to bench palmer.

If not I'd go kluivert and bank the cash. Cheap, attacking upside, potential dgw.

In all seriousness I'd drop Saka and have Richarlison instead. I'd also have Jota in the mix, as he may be on pens when Salah is at the AFCON.

There is some guy he's joint-top bonus points scorer (18) with Trippier, Taa and Salah this season, he's on pens and set pieces, he's 2 points above the essential Palmer but 0.1 cheaper, he might be worth considering. The only downside is he maybe considered a boring pick by many

        Not a bad neck.

I think Anthony Gordon is currently going under the radar on the neck width-front. Not sure if it's a truly wide neck or a slim face though.

Saka's got a decent neck and a truly beautifully structured face, so probably a decently broad face looking at his cheek bones.

Worth considering I think if South Korea make the final of Asia Cup then Son would miss up to GW25 and then potentially blank GW26 if Chelsea make the Carabao Cup final so you'd be benching him to play 1 game in 6. Lots of potentials there I grant you but its enough to make me sell because I think that Chelsea making the cup final is very likely

He would have been out since GW15 from 5 Dec, nearly long enough for a metatarsal break to heal ... he has been walking about freely for weeks now ... so I think he starts in GW21 on 13 Jan

Pep was saying KDB is the closest to being available of those out injured and that he may be ready for GW21, which doesn't sound too great for Haaland's chances of being ready then.

          1. Hotdogs for Tea
            • 10 Years
            2 years, 3 months ago

KdB was ready and on the bench on Saturday, not GW21, so certainly the closest and is two weeks ahead of Haaland.

Haaland ... 5 weeks out for stress in his foot, not a break... that is a decent rest of his foot.

Haaland has conveniently missed Luton, Palace, Everton & Sheff Utd ... Newcastle up next and Pep will play him against Newcastle

It’s funny how every thought and action has these little knock on affects in FPL, and in life.
All week (albeit a short one) I was back and forth between Foden and Bowen. I know Bowen hasn’t played yet, but the decision to get him, I guess had another factor, getting Alvarez. But I wanted Alvarez, I wanted him mostly as I had Raul and Alvarez was up against SHU and Raul was up against Arsenal. Thing is though, I didn’t reallly want to play Saliba as I knew they’d concede, as they always do. I had no alternative in defence really, other than playing Trippier who I definitely did not want to be up against Liverpool. So that leaves me with one thought, if I knew Arsenal would concede, and bought Raul before his suspension where he had great form and scored a few goals, then logic would dictate that he was the most likely to score. So why did I sell him for a hit when I could have got Foden and if I really wanted to take a hit I could have done Gordon to Bowen. With no hit I could have done the simple thing and just done Kulu to Foden. It’s these sorts of mind bending crypto scenarios that both confuse me and excite me at the same time.
So I guess my question here is, what did I do wrong here? Where can I, and we, improve on decision making as a whole?

I would put it simply as "stick to the plan", I found it out year after year and yet I still diverge here and there to my misery.
Like GW19 when I bought Gabriel, sicked and tired of Arsenal's clean sheats, if I didn't GW20 Dawson with his 14 points would be in my team. And that is just one simple example, internet noise is the reason I guess, overtinking a close second.

Like you said Kulu to Foden was the play for you but then you see everyone buying Alvarez and FOMO kicks in...so my 3 main advises are:
      1) deal with weakest link first
      2) stick to the plan
      3) don't overthink.

You’re doing great so you shouldn’t get too down about one minor mistake (even if that’s what it was).

I think the issue here is that we have emotional attachment over our decisions; that’s why Alvarez might seem more like a must have rather than Raul, and why we weren’t talking more about players like Groß, Olise and Elanga, despite having good stats (better than Richarlison say, although I’ll probably still get him in).

But the game is based on a range of things and there’s no better feeling than getting a hunch or decision right.

Good luck and happy new year

I think it’s mainly about trying to have clarity and then confidence in those early parts of the thought process - you thought Arsenal would concede, so get excited and confident about playing Raul. The hype around Alvarez, and possibly the grass is always greener factor of not having him, possibly muddied the call you made about Fulham definitely scoring at Arsenal. Also, SHU wasn’t extract the plumb fixture many thought, their last 4 weeks defensive numbers were ok, yet the narrative took hold that they are the worst team in the league defensively (they were - but they’re not at the moment). Also City are struggling to break low block teams right now a bit. So I think it’s also about trying to read current form, and how certain match ups might play out, more than it is getting worried that, on paper, a ‘good’ team is playing a ‘bad’ team

You could start by linking your team, it'll be easier to follow the transfers and get an overview of the team.
But it sounds a lot like overthinking to me, like I used to do in earlier seasons. Also, you will occasionally get the wrong end of the coin flip 5 times in a row. That's just unlucky though...

Here! You're asking questions that only you can answer. We can't make the good call every time. I played Gabriel for same reason you played Saliba. You're being too hard on yourself.

I just want to improve my thought process. I wonder how I can use this to better myself as a manager.
      But thank you.

Stay away from Pro pundit and content 'creators' advice, prob get better advice from posters here. Ultimately pick your own team and try keeping hits to a minimum. Captain choice is crucial. Looking for advice on captain picks myself. Bowen this GW 🙂

I actually don’t use any content creators and don’t even know how they get stuff out. I imagine it would be things like YouTube and twitter, but I don’t use them.
I hate hits, like seriously hate them. Just the last few weeks have been tough with suspensions. The Raul one was silly though.

Need advice on who to replace Salah:

    - Douglas Luiz
    - Richarlison
    - Elanga
    - De Bruyne
    - Bowen
    - Foden

I already have Saka, Gordan, Palmer and Hwang (who I will replace at some point too).

Top successful crosses put in so far this season

    Trippier 157
    Doughty 149
    Bruno 128
    Jwp 119
    Digne 115

With Adebayo starting up top maybe more assists on the cards from Doughty he's certainly passing the eye test for me. It's Shame I don't have a free transfer spare to get him in for next game week

Think I’m going Salah to Foden over Bowen and Richarlison. City hitting form as is Foden who just looks so good.

100k is too much. You will get some fame from it, some interviews. You could even start a YouTube channel. Maybe even write a book. But it will be a grind to reap more than 100k from those efforts. I’d take the money and run. 10/20k I’d think about it.

Salah, Son > Foden, Saka for free? Would leave me with enough ITB for Alvarez > Haaland the following week.

    Areola
    TAA, Saliba, Porro, Pau
    Bowen, Gordon, Palmer
    Watkins, Alvarez, Darwin

    (Dubravka, Salah*, Son*, Lascelles*)
    2 FT, 2.0 ITB

Probably that or similar. Personally will avoid Saka transfer as it prevents one transfer move to Haaland in my squad.

Hypothetically, who would you bench GW21 if this was your backline and all were fit:

    a) Porro (mun)
    b) Trippier (MCI)
    c) Estupiñán (WOL)
    d) Saliba (CRY)
    e) TAA (bou)

    1. Bleh

No fodder while Salah & Son are out of squad.

Fair enough it's hard to judge without seeing the full squad. I expect to bench two defenders and just one of my front 8.

this is a real tough one

I'd be inclined to bench B, although it's the sort of game he gets a set piece return.

Alongside him probably A. The fixture not as bad as it looks but just find it hard to sit the other 3.
