I think they are doing the right thing for the player's long term health - remember what happened at his previous club and why he chose Man City. Pep will rely on the medical advice so maybe he doesn't know.

Yes, it will be a five week rest by then.

He has not even been in a protective boot.

Plenty of time for the stress in his foot to settle down ... actually that is not far off the time for a metatarsal to heal.

Both need to drop twice before your selling value is affected. You should focus on who you will be bringing in, and the perils of early transfers when there FA and EFL Cup fixtures to navigate before GW21.

      Salah 0.3 rise
      Son 0.9 rise

You can afford one price drop each without affecting their SP. You have less to lose on Salah so he would be first to sell but no rush.

We do take this price drop thing as second nature, especially those who've been playing since the beginning 18 years ago.

      Player X starting price 10m.

      Rises to 11m.

      Sell at 10.5m.

      You've made 0.5m profit.

If your team value was 100m, it's now 100.5m permanently. You've created extra permanent budget.

If you don't sell Salah and Son and extract your permanent profit and then they both go break their legs then you've lot all the benefits of being able to afford a better team.

      Points per million!

Hope they drop like a stone, please sell everyone

Who are people dropping out to accommodate Haaland? The whole strong front 8 thing is just going to lead to bench points. l’m struggling to go from 352 to 343 to get Haaland though, it means selling one of Watkins or Solanke which I’m not entirely happy about. Having Archer has been handy in terms of not having the benching headache. My midfield will be Saka, Richarlison, Bowen, Jota, Palmer, with Watkins and Solanke up front.

It's possible that there may be some effect, just not sure to what extent. This is a pretty good layman's article on it...

The strength of the quake depends on how much energy is released, but also the amount of earth movement and the depth of the quake. Earthquakes are not influenced by climate change, although plate tectonics, of which earthquakes are a manifestation, can impact climate over vast periods of geological time.
University comment I would tend to see makes sense

Yes, but the rate is new.

Current warming is occurring roughly 10 times faster than the average rate of warming after an ice age. Carbon dioxide from human activities is increasing about 250 times faster than it did from natural sources after the last Ice Age.

The expected changes in climate are based on our understanding of how greenhouse gases trap heat. Both this fundamental understanding of the physics of greenhouse gases and pattern-based fingerprint studies show that natural causes alone are inadequate to explain the recent observed changes in climate. Natural causes include variations in the Sun’s output and in Earth’s orbit around the Sun, volcanic eruptions, and internal fluctuations in the climate system (such as El Niño and La Niña). Calculations using climate models have been used to simulate what would have happened to global temperatures if only natural factors were influencing the climate system. These simulations yield little surface warming, or even a slight cooling, over the 20th century and into the 21st. Only when models include human influences on the composition of the atmosphere are the resulting temperature changes consistent with observed change.

I feel like a bit of a idiot posting all this on a Fantasy Football website, but the fact that people still stay blinkered to it for idealogical reasons astounds me.

Of course, companies do use it as an, often cynical, means to make money, but that doesn't discount the evidence in the first place.

Do FPL prices get locked when players are flagged? A lot of us have value tied up in Salah and Son. Not too much of an issue if they drop in price anyway as they could drop by 0.2m but not if the price gets locked until the flags are removed.

        This is another stupid rule.

If you have too many suspended players (I recently had four in one GW), you might want to sell one or two to get eleven players on the pitch. The only problem is, you won't get them back if there is no price drop.

The 8pm match seems a long way. With a full programme in the other divisions, which is the match to watch out for?

Thinking of watching Walthamstow v Basildon

    Quiz of the day.

Can anybody name (without cheating) the highest-owned player in general and the highest-owned striker at the moment?

Hint, for both, it is not Haaland.

Yea Olise makes more sense as it would enable Haaland back.

Missed it too but punted on Nkunku on wildcard (although I benched him this week for Solanke expecting him to get benched v Luton) but I'm just sticking with that for now. But hard to ignore at that price. Won't get to waltz through a defence so easily that often though (his second was great though)

The second goal was an absolute treat for the viewer, t’was like the dance of a sugar plum fairy. Beautiful stuff.

    Happy New Year, all!

How do work out the price a player was when you got them in? I.e., I got Salah in GW9.

I’m not too fussed about losing value - just curious.

    Areola - Dubravka
    Porro - Gabriel - Walker - Konsa - Kilman
    Salah - Son - Saka - Gordon - Palmer
    Watkins - Alvarez - Archer

2FT 8.1ITB, I think I can hold Salah for a little while so I think Son & Hee Chan are the priority here who would you bring in

    Salah paid 12.5
    Son paid 9.3
    Hee Chan paid 5.7

    Rest of team

    Areola, Dubravka
    Livra, Porro, Gabriel, Beyer, Konsa
    Palmer, JWP
    Solanke, Watkins, Alverez

    Happy new year, folks!

Looking forward to almost two weeks without FPL. Get a lot of enjoyment from the game and chatting about it with friends and the good people on this site - but I always enjoy the breaks when they come along.

Having my worst, most injury-ravaged season yet but stemmed the bleeding a bit over the past few weeks with what is suddenly a very template squad. Hoping to have a bit more luck with a differential or two and to make gains when doubles and blanks come along.

Hoping for a better 2024 outside of the game too. Take care of yourselves, guys, and I’ll see you in a few days!
