Dead-ending this GW into WC26 is an interesting option to consider

BGW29 certainty is a big plus for WC27

Looking at my moves from 27, i'll probably want to be shifting out one/both of Foden and KDB, will want Salah and/or Son but also need to keep in mind the need to bring back Solanke for 28 (and maybe another punt on that double).

I guess the issue in 26 is that you still won't know what 29 looks like. I think the value of the early WC is holding the FH chip through 29

    Has anybody contemplated GW28 FH?

    Fixtures are poor.

    Liverpool v City
    Chelsea v Newcastle
Villa v Spurs (most people will have a lot of these players leading into 29)
Arsenal v Brentford (should own Brentford players ahead of 29).

Potential upside in bringing in triple Bournemouth and triple Luton without having to sell Haaland (which is in my current plan).
Dependent on FA Cup results as some options may open up who you can carry over into 29.

No, mainly because I feel its more useful to cover blanks, but also:
      - Bournemouth have great fixtures from 26 onwards
      - I actually like that Villa fixture for my Spurs attackers, especially with their injuries
      - I won't own any LIV/MCI defenders & its not like I'd want to avoid Salah/Haaland

Bournemouth have good fixtures but for those without Darwin, it might be not a straightforward transfer (I have Watkins, Toney & Haaland).

You'd likely end up with defenders opposing all your attackers across the board, even Arsenal v Brentford (& Raya will not have a fixture).

You would still be able to retain Salah & Haaland because the budget would seem endless with the cheap options from Luton & Bournemouth, or avoid them entirely.

I like the idea of maxing out on bournemouth and Luton and the fixtures are poor in general as you say, but GW29 makes it unviable IMO as you will likely walk back into a tonne of blanks, unless there are a few shocks in the FA Cup

      1. Bob B
        • 12 Years

Most are bringing in players to not have to FH in 29 and dead-end into a wildcard at that point. People without Solanke will be using their FT to bring him in and leaving themselves short for the following week so it's essentially a week where you would not be able to make progress towards the blank in 29 (unless Bournemouth and Luton have a confirmed fixture in 29).

I'm not against it but would need at least one more decent game to be added to week 29. Also I want to TC Solanke at home against the worst two defences in the league.

28 does look like one of those weeks where team of the week will cost about 60m.

My original plan was also to TC Solanke and BB this week but spanners with Porro, Bilva and Trent have left me short-handed.

The whole point of the Free Hit is to bring in players that you wouldn't normally have in your team and you're right, the team of the week is likely to be full of garbage!

Depends. I am around 150k so would probably go with the safe and boring pick of Haaland as I can't catch a break at the mo so not the time to take risks.

If I was say 250k plus then I think it's a great opportunity to take a chance

Probably not going to play Gusto (MCI) or Taylor (BUR) & take a hit for a DGW-er instead (5.5m max).

    A) Porro > Bradley
    B) Porro > Doughty
    C) Porro > Regulion
    D) Gusto > Bradley

D is an interesting one as means I won't be forced to sell Porro. Problem is, don't know if Trent & Porro might be back for GW27, which would leave Taylor vs. BOU. Porro obviously loses a bit of value by then too, I guess.

    1. Bob B
      • 12 Years

I wouldn't look to sell Porro because he will be valuable in a few weeks.
Gusto to Reguilon, Doughty or Aké would be my picks depending on what you need over the coming weeks.

There was a link here to an interview with Ange. He clearly says he thinks Destiny would be back for 27, but then said Porro would be "a couple of weeks". Maybe reading too much into it. That said, I think holding Porro is sensible IF you aren't making too much sacrifice to do so simply because fixtures look good for Spurs going forward

Yeah I saw Udogie would be back, but couple of weeks for Porro is unclear. Could mean he is back, or could mean he misses out.

2 weeks from now is 1st Feb. 2nd March is Spurs vs. Palace. Might think Emerson can cover him for that winnable fixture...!

I will have Areola, Bowen, Saliba on my bench.

Laschelles to Reguillon/Doughty do make the bench really tempting.
This do mean that you think:
Your BB is better this week compared to coming oppertunities
      vs
Haaland TC compared to coming oppertunities.

Solanke is quite ok coming up. A theoretical Son in 37 could be great as well. Haaland with two at home could be insane if starting both.

VVD will definately perform more then 4 points, so definately worth it.
The big question is if you can field an 11 next week, which in that case could lean you towards a arsenal/dgw team with fixture next gw.

Second option gives you 2 players in 26 Vs just 1 in the first option, not sure if that helps or not! I think the potential upside off Gabriel this week plus the fixture in 26 edges it for me

    Really stuck here.

    3 doublers in 25- Foden/Haaland/Darwin
    4/5 blankers in 26- TAA/Porro/Rich/Palmer/Darwin + possibly Beyer.

    1. TAA + Richarlison out-> Maguire + KDB in (-4). This makes 26 fairly easy and Maguire fills in a few nice little gaps along the way.
    2. Same as above Porro-> Saliba (-8).
    2. TAA-> Ake (leaves 3.5m ITB) + either leave it or change a mid for a doubler who plays 26.
    3. Something else.

    Dubravka.
    Gabriel, **TAA, Trippier.
    Foden, Saka, Richarlison, Garnacho.
    Darwin, Watkins, Haaland.
    Areola, **Porro, Palmer, Beyer.
    1ft, 0.1m ITB..

Well Palmer I think has to become Mo. Trent and Porro are going to have to go to find the cash. So I need two DGW defenders for a combined total of 10.5 million or less.

    Hmmmm

Any reason not to go with Konaté and Ake?

I like Ake. Not so sure about Konate for starting both in the DGW, and then he has a blank.

That was what I was wondering. But then I thought he has already had a break after his red card. So that maybe makes him more secure than he would be normally

Good point. Maybe he's also needed for the physical presence of Brentford and Luton attack.

LOL. I don't damn well know! DGW's always end up making you buy players you wouldn't normally consider just to balance the books. Stupid game

I'm going for sodding Reguillon as my Trent replacement, so I'm in a similar position!
