He might play even higher in GW1/2 as a false nine like in the community shield until Zirkzee is up to speed and will be gold at nr.10 if Utd can get Ugarte or someone similar, still worth 8.5m imo as a nr.8 with pens that is nailed and ticks over but lots more exciting and cheaper options in that case like Gordon/Eze/Jota etc

He could get 20 mins and gets a return against tired legs. I think it’s not outrageous but I personally think Son vs Leicester and reassess for GW2 has more upside.

Far too much on the bench imo given the cheapest of the front 8 is £6.5m. The England boys not certain to all start - most have very little pre season, Foden and Watkins literally none.

Pep has basically said Foden won’t start this week.

If I’m honest I think this needs a reshuffle, not getting sufficient upside to go without both Haaland and Salah

Punts would be people like Minteh, Rogers, Bobb, there’s an argument ESR is technically untested as a nailed on starter.

I was definitely considering him as a budget mid in my Haaland + Salah draft. Really depends on if cash is tight or not. He's a great budget pick.

Could be a decent punt for GW1 and then move to another 5.5 if needed. Stories today of Miggy possibly moving back to the MLS. If it happens that Newcastle will probably step up recruitment for a new RW, possibly Madueke.

I have Murphy for a GW1 BB atm but will go ESR if I decide not to BB and plan for a bit longer term
