I would go Hall, but then you have to factor in Gvardiol Hall Barco are very fair from nailed.

Maybe make Gvardiol into Arsenal for assurance.

Upped from Nkunku to Eze y/day keeping 0.5itb. Staying on him unless City make a grab for him making him less appealing & would splash out on Gordon (currently my back up for Jota)

    Henderson / Turner

I guess the implicit logic is that Southampton is the best fixture to target, but no one's capping Forest players GW2... so City Ipswich looks the biggest imbalance

I rate Ipswich a lot more than Southampton and have some doubts about that game being a bit tricky especially away and early KO. Will be in the Isak camp too, although I am tinkering with Salah over Haaland now

Let’s be honest, Salah and/or Haaland could explode so it’s best to have both to start with.

You could say that about any of the premium players though - that's why they're premium. Any or all of Haaland, Salah, Palmer, Son, Saka, etc could blank or explode, and you can't have them all.

                  Fair.

With Foden out, Haaland doesn't really have a cheap alternative like Salah does (Jota, Diaz), so it makes sense to me to lean that way. Not expecting Jota to 'cover' Salah (hate that term) but reckon he'll do pretty well with those fixtures for a fraction of the price.

I'm not really happy with the compromises to fit both personally, mainly because I'm quite confident in Arsenal & Newcastle making great starts and have quite a lot of funds invested there in my "one of Haaland/Salah" drafts.

Unfortunately starting with no City will probably push me into an early WC but I am increasingly concerned about the chances Haaland will get with such a makeshift midfield behind him initially

I've had triple Newcastle in all my drafts and the latest tinker with Salah allows for Saka, Havertz & Saliba without deviating too far from the rest of my Haaland setup:

                  Pope 4
                  Saliba Muñoz Davis Quansah Barco
                  Salah Saka Jota Gordon ESR

Personal preference to some degree, but I really don't like this structure with virtually no playing bench when you have Nkunku under a manager who doesn't know his best XI yet & Rogers' questionable nailedness

      1. Skengzema
        • 8 Years

I agree but does having a bench matter in this instance if Rodgers is going to get minutes regardless if he starts or not

        1. The Mentaculus
          • 4 Years
          1 year, 4 months ago

True, but I was thinking a bit longer-term, if e.g. you see Rogers is getting 1pt cameos and you to sell someone else to upgrade that spot. In that case the bench gives you more wriggle room to just bench him for a week or two while you address other issues. But if you don't mind the increased risk of early WC then there's nothing really wrong with min bench

        Munoz: 2.53

And mins per XGI under Glasner reads:
        Mitchell: 514.8
        Munoz: 506

Munoz's season didn't start in January mate.

Even just counting his Palace games, he got 1 less return than Mitchell despite playing about 20 games' worth of minutes less than him (only started 16 games vs Mitchell's 37)

“Munoz's season didn't start in January mate.” - Yeah I know I’m just disproving your completely false claim.

“Even just counting his Palace games, he got 1 less return than Mitchell despite playing about 20 games' worth of minutes less than him (only started 16 games vs Mitchell's 37)” Over the whole season of course Mitchell had worse PPG stats than Munoz cos Munoz played a far higher % of his games under Glasner than Mitchell. When you compare both of them under Glasner’s wing back system, Munoz only has a tiny edge on attacking stats while Mitchell has better baseline BPS and is less card prone.

You said “Muñoz had more than double the xGI last season, despite playing about 400 fewer minutes.”

                Actual XGI last season
                XGI last season:
                Mitchell: 3.96
                Munoz: 2.53

Munoz played 2,883 minutes in total last season, amassing 9.0 xGI total. Like I said before, his season didn't only start in January.

Wait you’re hardly including data from the Belgian league ffs?

To give an idea of a full season, but it doesn't really matter because if you compare his Palace-only stats per 90, you get:

                      Mitchell - 0.04 xG + 0.08 xA (0.12 xGI per 90)
                      Munoz - 0.08 xG + 0.15 xA (0.25 xGI per 90)

Yeah but you’re including Mitchell’s time under Hodgson where he inevitably will have worse xG stats. As I already mentioned, the stats when they were playing together under Glasner were almost identical which is the best set of data to pull from as that’s what we will be seeing this season.

Looking at games from 3rd Feb only (when Munoz started playing for Palace):

                        Mitchell - 1.1 xG + 1.6 xA (2.7 xGI)
                        Munoz - 1.2 xG + 2.4 xA (3.6 xGI)

Yep, its hard to include pre Glasner Mitchell into any equation like that due to how Hodgson played him. I was at Selhurst Park on Sunday for the friendly, and Mitchell is looking fresh/great bombing forward and a nice assist for our new guy Kamada to score. While Mitchell had a good rest leading into pre season, Muñoz played all the way to Copa America final, could also be a factor of who to start with.

What would upgrade with 1m for this team?

    Henderson - 4.0
    Gabriel - Porro - Hall - Quansah - Barco
    Saka - Jota - Gordon - Eze - Winks
    Haaand - Isak - Muniz

Either upgrade one of the defenders to a 5 / 5.5 or Gordon to Bruno? Any other suggestions welcome

Probably one of the defenders as you have 3 that dont have guaranteed minutes

    Hi Mods

Is it me or have we not had the 3 promoted series articles on Leicester?

Also the Southampton articles haven't been added to the ultimate guide to preseason.

I'm a little worried that a lot of content won't be ready by deadline tomorrow 🙁
