having watched the highlights, Palmer's haul was deserved but that Wolves left side was an absolute mess. no need to over-react, just a timely reminder of what he can do and why he's a worthy premium asset this season.

Taken a -4 for this, but tempted to hit WC.

    Missing Raya, Trent, Salah.

    Henderson Vald

    Worth it or just stick?

team looks really solid, would sell nkunku for mid of choice but otherwise just chill with 2 FT heading into GW4. Arsenal defence can wait with their fixtures in 4 + 5 and Brighton dont look shabby in attack right now either. nice to have Solanke waiting, very solid option GW4 onwards when hes fit again

I made the mistake of following the advice given by several content creators and picking Henderson as my goalkeeper despite the fact it was looking like Palace were going to be a selling club this season. Anyone else thinking of switching to Martinez for their good run of fixtures?

They had already sold one of their best players, ie. Olise, and it was being reported that some others were for sale. Weakening both the attack and the defence definitely makes a team more likely to concede as the opponents are under less pressure in defence.

Depends on your plan. Jota will get 60-70 GW3. Great attacking team. After that, who knows. Im riding it until the wave dies and will reassess then. The longer, the more info I'll have on him and Slot's thoughts and viable alternatives.

Eze for long term if between the two. Jota for shlitz and giggles for now.

Lloyd Kelly first game for a while, Hall struggled when he came on IMO, gave ball away too readily.

Kelly struggled a lot all game to be fair. Doesn't seem massively suited to that LB role.

Feels like that spot may never be nailed this season.

I'd have started with Livramento if I know what I knew now, but Newcastle's fixtures are meh for a bit anyway. Benchable.

I get the impression Kelly would rather play in central midfield, if he had the choice. He played well there in a preseason friendly. He's still young so can learn.

Kelly or Hall? Hall would also rather play there given that's what he grew up playing.

Newcastle's defence was terrible in playing from the back today. They were chasing the game so brought on Hall as a more attacking alternative to Kelly.

Still questions over our first choice fullbacks going forward. Livra was poor today. Trippier was either emotional afterwards because he's leaving or because of his personal issues. Howe doesn't seem to have complete faith in Hall defensively. Kelly didn't offer anything going forward

      81 decent.

      Didn't own Haaland.
Isak, Muniz, Bruno F, Eze, Brereton and Sanchez all blanked.
Left Joao Pedro (8) and Saliba (6) on the bench.
56 points, dropped to five millionth overall.

      Smooth:
      Salah (C) 10*2, Saka 6, Alexander-Arnold 6, Gabriel 6 and Robinson 7.
Late adjustments to bonus points increased my score from 50 to 56, otherwise it would have been even worse.

Smooth: Håland (C). My midfield, who all blanked in GW1, all scored in GW2 - Son, Gordon, Gibbs-White, Smith Rowe.

Rough: Pickford again (although I'll take the assist for Son). Did Barco → Harwood-Bellis as I thought he was more likely to drop than Castagne and wanted to see if the latter regained his place rather than move sideways to Robinson. 5 points and 0.1m down and Barco still hasn't dropped.

    15. Kannbury

Smooth: 92 points, TC Haaland scored 10 points more than whole team last week, Palmer haul, Gordon.

Rough: Everyone else blanked, accommodating Haaland and Palmer means the rest of the team is dross and this probably needs to be addressed with a WC.

    16. Deulofail
      • 10 Years
      2 years, 3 days ago

      Rough:

I benched both my Arsenal defenders for their clean sheets, choosing to play Hall instead, who was inexplicably benched before appearing for the last 21 mins to ensure I lost points!

That Newcastle showing also provided another sub-60 Murphy showing for 2 points from 2 games.

      Smooth:

On the whole, though, another lovely gameweek with plenty of lovely points (84 in total). I played Robinson (ahead of the Arsenal boys), who delivered on his attacking promise with an assist and bonus point, I own Salah and ESR (both with 10pts) and, of course, I captained Haaland's brace.

Looks like I've got a nice green arrow from 84k to around 73k, which is certainly my best start ever. I would expect to drop like a stone from here but, I saved my transfer from the first week, and plan to do the same this week, I still have all the chips, and I must say, the future looks bright! I'm as light as air!

Well, you certainly ground that score out mate. Id have gone for 1 ARS defender to hedge my bets but Im a prudent and risk averse NHS accountant.

        Top skills!

I'm sure you told me to play an Arsenal defender. Everyone with an opinion said to play at least one haha. I think it's a bit unfair of the FPL gods to bench Hall, but perhaps I took an unnecessary risk. Wanted to stick to my plan from before GW1. One more week before a WC and I have my Arsenal pair against Brighton now. Can expect them to concede now!

Thanks for your response. Will take another read of this thread later to see if you've anything to report!

Rough - no Haaland, Lewis hitting the bar when it was easier to score and then Arsenal being very VERY cagey.

      Smooth - the recovery today.
Salah (c), Diaz, Jota and Gordon.

Rough: Got 51 points from 10 players.

Smooth: Got 51 points from the 11th.

75 points for a small 27k red arrow. All the players I needed to stay quiet didn't!

Haaland(c), Saka, Robinson, Areola & Salah returns. Not much else!

Rough: Henderson in goal; Isak not firing; Nkunku .... well, Nkunku.

Smooth: everyone else returned, but particularly grateful for J. Pedro, Gordon, and Robinson's points, esp Gordo who looked a little sluggish for much of the match. Oh, captained (but didn't TC!) Haaland.

      So, a good GW2 overall -- 87 pts.

      Smooth:
90 points on the WC after a close to 90 BB in GW1 puts me 'up there' from the beginning.

Haaland (C), KDB, Palmer went very well. Still have the faith in most of the team even those blanking in GW2. Maybe except Armstrong which, in hindsight, is more likely than not a very poor pick.

      Rough:

Eze is going to drop to 6.9

Not in a rush to get Watkins would prefer Wissa/Muniz for value

Probably depends what weeks you need to play them - their fixtures actually rotate well

Just need one of them next to Haaland an Muniz. Enables Gordon to Palmer.

Why do people really like Rogers as an FPL pick? Is it just become cheap and good fixtures cause the underlying stats aren't great....

I've watched him enough as a Villa fan that the underlying stats you're relying on aren't reliable

Looks a decent player. Maybe just needs a goal to get him started. Maybe he'll be like Elliot Anderson at Newcastle last season, looked the part but no end product in terms of FPL.

Way awesome last season. Just brought him in and had him for wks until final draft, went Minteh instead and he's disappointing

Thought he did well at the end of last season, got 600 PL minutes in half a season coming straight from the Championship and that was when he also had Diaby and Zaniolo to compete with. Realistically he has a good chance of getting minutes on the left or behind the striker. A lot of other 5m options play for weaker teams but are seemingly no more nailed than Rogers (i.e. Sinisterra, Amad, Traore, Carvalho)
