Best fixtures the next 6 games; Pool, Chelsea and Villa.

Therefore, I am doing a WC in GW3; Get a team stacked with Pool, Chelsea and Villa players with mercenaries in the form of Haal and Porro; fillers of Southampton and Leicester players. Try to roll 3/4 transfers to reassess in a few games. Anyone else WCarding GW3?

Yeah, WC is on as I has the likes of Solanke, Qunsah, Barco, Nkunku....
Currently I'm trying to decide which way to go 1) Haaland, Salah, Palmer, Saka or more balanced without Saka

Thanks for the reply, should have said I have Saka already. Started with Son with an eye to move after two weeks, but had him as captain last week so feel like my judgement is clouded on keeping him.

I might be being too conservative with the ability to stack transfers, but I'm holding. I like the idea of being able to do some moderate surgery during/after the international break if there are some injuries and I like the fixture for Son a reasonable amount

If you bought Muniz before his £0.1m rise (mainly as a result of the Solanke injury)
It might be worth holding on for another week he might score or assist & go up another £0.1m
Wissa also has 2 difficult games coming up in 4 & 5
Man City & Spurs (both away)

No way I'd be selling both Gordon and Isak ahead of Spurs (H). They've not looked great so far but you know what they can do - and Newcastle have scored 10 goals (Isak 4) in that fixture in the last two seasons combined! Never underestimate the power of a positive memory trace - certainly not when it's SJP we're talking about.

Don't like it before LEI (H), maybe not until GW7. Like Porro less for the next two. Of course the double-up is a bit of a concern.. still inclined to stick, there was a reason you started with them, and the best fixtures cs-wise are yet to come.

Thoughts on this WC - double ARS and Liverpool at the back so high risk, high reward each GW. Will swap Salah for Haaland around GW8.

I like it but I don't love it. It's well set up for the long-term with a strong rotating first sub slot along with Robinson and Faes. But I would say that it seems a little wasteful to spend 0.5 on Roninson when he's locked out of your team by a power 3. Perhaps he can cover for Rogers or Pedro, though I haven't checked the fixtures.

My main issue is one I know you'll disagree with, and that's Raya. He is not a defender but a goalkeeper, so I wouldn't count this as double Arsenal defence, but double Arse cleanies. However the GK position gets points for other things and should be compared to other GKs. I don't think the extra 1.0m spent in that position is better spent here than in the XI. For example, Madueke could be Bowen, Jota, Maddison or Gordon, or Mbeumo or Eze with 0.5 spare. Even if not now, outfield upgrades are limited by having money in Raya, and I personally wouldn't want to spend a precious FT on the GK position to unlock the bank.

This is just an age-old debate, which is not news to you, but it's clear where I sit on that debate haha. It could be that Raya vastly outscores other GKs this season, and in which case, I would go for him as well, but since I can't and don't predict that, I can't and won't get Raya myself.

Good luck with your WC. I planned to WC this week since game-launch, but changed my mind when Bobb was injured. Enjoy the tinkerage

      1. Miguel Sanchez
        • 10 Years
        2 years, 2 days ago

Thanks mate and appreciate your thoughts and would tend to agree with most of what you say.

I'm a massive fan of the 4.5 GK having had great joy early doors with Heaton, Pope and Martinez in the past. Raya seems to be good for BPS when ARS keep a CS which hasn't always been the case for these Big 6 GKs. I guess I could switch up Robbo to Saliba to cover off the double ARS defence that I want but I'm not really sold on any GK right now. Perhaps Martinez at 5.0 but I think it is a slightly underwhelming bunch of 4.5s this year.

Will ponder on it but this is the one aspect of the WC that hasn't really changed.

Many thanks and best of luck for your season too!

        1. Deulofail
          • 10 Years

FWIW I would love to have Raya in my team, so it still makes me envious while simultaneously not wanting to put him in my team. It's true that Raya is more alluring now given that there's no obvious alternative for less. I won't write him off completely when building my WC (probably next week)

And I prefer Robertson to the Arsenal defenders right now. Whoever's in goal doesn't affect this, except when considering how many slots you have left for players from that team. If I make sense. Which I rarely do, it seems. Peace out.

    Question.

If I go into a WC next week without any FTs, will I accrue a FT over the WC and thus have two the following week? I appreciate under the new rules you can carryover FTs when you a play a WC, but keen to know if you also get one from the week you WC.

    1. Tonyawesome69
      • 7 Years
      2 years, 2 days ago

If you have X FT then played the WC, you will remain on X FT the following GW.

Please note that when playing either a Wildcard or your Free Hit chip, any saved free transfers are maintained for the following Gameweek. If you had 2 saved free transfers, you will still have 2 saved free transfers the Gameweek after playing the chip.

      1. AIRMILES
        • 15 Years

Is that lifted from the rules (obviously would have been a good place to check)? So if I have 1 FT going into my WC week, then WC, then the following week, I will still only have 1? So not only will I not get one for the week I WC (fair enough), but I won't even get a new one the following week. Is this correct? If so, I may as well use my FT this week if I'm going to WC next week.

          • 16 Years

The main rule change is earlier if you had 2 fts and played WC youd have just 1 in the next week(which was a stupid rule). Now if you had 2 FTs and played the WC you would have 2 in the following week

Yeah I'm not ready to WC just yet to get Palmer, so I did Nkunku to Madueke for free.

Why is this bad? Fatigue and higher chance of getting injured

Not bad but not sure why he was picked

On that note are we reading anything into Solanke not getting a call? Might have already got the heads up he's injured? Kyle Walker also not included.

    Hi all,

    Team is:

    Hendo
    Saliba, Porro, TAA
    MGW, Son, Jota, Rogers
    Haaland, Isak, Muniz

    1.5 itb. 1FT

I was originally planning moving on Son, but I think he could do well and not impressed with Newcastle so far.

So is Isak to Watkins before the main crowd the play? Minutes risk, but he's close to hauling!

I should add subs: Robinson, Winks, Harwood-Belis

I'm in a very similar boat to you, same front 3, same finances, same FT status, no other fires. I'm really 50/50 over it. If Watkins had got 75 mins against Arsenal I'd probably be there but him coming off after an hour in a game of that magnitude tells me he's still well short on his fitness. Does 90 ish mins of Isak outscore 60-70 mins of Watkins? The other thing is carrying over a FT over the international break feels very important. No fires now but you can bet your life you'll have a few heading into GW4 when the players come back.

It's a tough call, and you may well be right with holding over the International break. I just have that feeling that Leicester are due to get smashed and Watkins did still get into some great positions. Good luck whatever you decide!

And to yourself even as a (presumed) reds fan.... from a Ram. (Runs for cover).

Yep Forest here - maybe I'm hoping Leicester get smashed more than the reality it happening!

I would roll the dice on that tbf. Could backfire, obviously, but I'd just go for it

Like it and am pretty similar but went with Salah instead of Haaland who I think is a better captaincy option in the next 4.

If Aston Villa fail to move on Dendoncker and Diego Carlos then it's very unlikely they will sign Lutsharel Geertruida (new first choice RB, can cover CB). Enzo Barrenechea looks likely to go loan to Valencia.

Provided all this doesn't happen, Nedeljkovic may come in for me for Hall.
