I don’t buy the excitement over the Rice second yellow. He not only kicked the ball away, he was blocking the player taking a quick free kick too. It was a clear obstruction and yellow.

his worst crime was the feigning he'd been kicked

Ooh really! Why was Joao pedro not shown yellow for kicking the ball out?

Clearly Pedro should have been booked also but that’s doesn’t detract from Rice pi$$ing about and risking a stupid and needless booking for his antics.

Pedro kicked the ball when out of play with no Arsenal player in sight and the backup ball available. Actually still think he should’ve been booked but it was far different to Rice deliberately preventing a quick free kick.

Should have been a yellow for both Veltman and Rice IMO

I think you’re smart enough to work out that I don’t think he deserved a yellow. VAR should have overturned it as it was a clear error.

Hey guys! Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday morning (or whatever time of day it is!) 😀

Have been initially planning for a WC4 but know have doubts as I'm largely happy with the main core of the team and only really want to play around with the bench/defence/cheaper players

    Henderson Valdimarsson
    TAA Gabriel Hall THB Barco
    Salah Jota ESR Rogers Winks
    Haaland (C) Isak Wood

    1 FT
    1.3 ITB

Hall, THB, Barco, Winks, Wood (maybe Isak, today depending) would all likely go on a WC but not sure it's worth doing it just for that

Keep the WC until GW6 or so oe stick to the plan and go for it?

    Thanks!

I would probably just sell Hall and WC in GW6. Hall is in my team also but will almost definitely sell if he’s benched today

yeah, that's the plan. Hopefully he starts today... if not who are you considering?

Konsa/Pau seem like the most obvious options to me.

agree, I usually tend to play them early and even planned for a WC4 from the beginning but now my team looks better than expected with some nice upcoming fixtures for the main hitters. Will watch today and most likely save.

Anyone considering Onana over Rogers for Villas good fixtures?

Over the last three he’s had more shots, SoT, shots in the box and big chances. Roger’s only coming out on top for chances created.

He needs one more goal to match his returns from 2 seasons at Everton. We're not going to score from set pieces constantly based on his 2 goals in 3 games. Absolutely chuffed we signed him as a DCM though

Duran looks great this season and is VERY highly touted so I would expect him to keep getting minutes in the league especially with Europe coming up. Watkins seems like an easy AVOID for me at this point

      1. Sir Michael Taker
        • 12 Years

Weren't they close to selling Duran? I'm not sure his minutes are much more than because Olly can't do beyond an hour currently. Emery mentioned in his presser this week Watkins has been carrying a knock I think?

        1. vova
          • 16 Years

Chelsea were interested and so were West Ham. Duran is a bit of a headcase and I think Villa were ready to cash in for PSR reasons. Ability wise Duran is very good. I think that Emery will continue splitting minutes between the two, with Watkins getting more game time/more important fixtures but Duran should get plenty as well.

Just don't think Watkins is as safe as last year due to more fixtures + Duran breaking out.

    Flekken
    Saliba TAA Robinson Maz
    Jota Saka Nkunku Rogers
    Isak Haaland (C)

    Turner Munoz Winks Solanke

Thinking Rogers to Onana and Solanke to Pedro.

Or double Villa? Or double Brighton with Mitoma?

    Thanks!

I could be wrong but Onana is a trap. I would love for him to score 2 set piece goals every 3 games as a Villa fan but doubt it happens

I'd definitely be looking at shifting Nkunku over Solanke, especially if Nkunku doesn't start again today. Solanke will likely be fit after the international break so at least you've got a starter there.

Simply sublime scout notes. Literally everything you need to know from an FPL point of view. Wish Neale could write up all the matches.

Really impressed by Minteh yesterday. Pops up in lovely attacking areas and still only £5.5m. Very tempted to move for him over Nkuku. Frees up the money for Salah too

You'd probably still go to Pedro over him with the pens though? Different positions obviously so depends on where you need the budget savings. I still think they both could become mins risks once Brighton have a full squad again. He's not De Zerbi and there's no europe but they still have a lot of options in the attacking third.

Initial team hasn't worked, probably too many risks. Going to WC during this break. Any glaring holes?

    Areola Fabianski
    Trent Porro Mazroui (Faes, Keane)
    Salah Gordon Mbeumo Semenyo (Winks)
    Haaland Havertz Wood

This looks good but also a bit like chasing last week’s points.

Keane is due to be dropped for O’Brien at some point.

Mbeumo, Wood have poor fixtures until GW6

    RAYA
    ROBERTSON VIRGIL SALIBA 4 4
    Palmer JOTA Mbuemo Semenyo 4.5
    Haaland HAVERTZ Wissa

    3 x ARS, 3 x Pool, 2 x Brentford
    Haaland + Palmer

Not really for myself, but for those perhaps WCing in 6ish or so

My main take is that to tap into Salah or Saka just for a small patch would need flexibility and that you wouldn't be able to do it

So I think 2 x Pool defence (unless TAA then perhaps 1), Raya and allow flexibility to bring in Salah/Saka/Havertz to come in without having to free up Pool/Arsenal slots

GW 4 - Gabriel, Diaz, Isak > Mosquera, Salah, J.Pedro

GW 6 - Salah, Muniz > Saka, Havertz

    Porro Munoz Robinson

I posted a comment about Watkins last GW...

It was something along the lines of, if we didn't see what Watkins did last season and just seen what he has done so far this season. I'd say 9m is overpriced for him.

Yes he will probably prove me wrong, but I really don't think he's worth that much on FPL.

Mentioned yesterday another 60 mins is a concern even though Emery said he should feel better after 2 games played. Still expect him to start but doubt he will be the nailed 90 mins player like last season

Even if he plays 60 mins, he still plays Everton, Wolves & Ipswich in his next 3 and got a return last game.
Havertz/Wissa look like decent replacements but they both have City & Spurs in their next 2 games, so just wait a few weeks. Bro is panicking

I can tell you as Villa fan that is absolute BS. Duran can't lead the line. Has been tried before. He doesn't press well at all. He's ideal late sub chaos maker. Remember super sub OGS?

Also Watkins scored 19 goals last season no pens and didn't score a goal until GW6 then got hat trick week after. That was with a pre season he hasn't had now
