THIS ARTICLE HAS BEEN SUPERSEDED BY FRIDAY’S LIVE TEAM NEWS ROUND-UP

With nine Premier League teams in midweek cup action at home or abroad, there’s lots of injury news to wade through ahead of Gameweek 6.

The pre-match press conferences on Thursday and Friday will, of course, tell us a lot more on the injury front. We’ll have article round-ups on both days and a video summary, as usual.

In the meantime, this initial rundown gives an overview of all 20 Premier League sides.

Visit our team news tab and injuries and bans page for more information as the deadline nears.

Gameweek 6 injury news

NEWCASTLE UNITED V MANCHESTER CITY

The big team news from the Manchester City camp this week concerns Rodri (knee).

A casualty of Sunday’s draw with Arsenal, the Spaniard is expected to be out for a long period of time. Media reports suggest it could be a season-ending issue, although City have yet to put a timescale on it.

“Manchester City FC can confirm that Rodri has suffered a ligament injury to his right knee.

“The injury was sustained during the first half of this weekend’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League.

“The midfielder travelled to Spain to seek specialist consultation this week, following initial tests in Manchester.

“Assessment remains ongoing to ascertain the full extent of the injury and expected prognosis.” – Manchester City club statement on Wednesday

“Still we don’t have the definitive [answer]… will be out for a long time, a while.” – Pep Guardiola, speaking on Tuesday

Rodri joins Oscar Bobb (leg) and Nathan Ake (hamstring) on the injury list at City.

Kevin De Bruyne (thigh) isn’t expected to be out for long but Gameweek 6 may come too soon.

“I don’t know, I don’t know. Yesterday didn’t train, today I didn’t see him, so I don’t know.” – Pep Guardiola, speaking on Tuesday, on Kevin De Bruyne’s chances of featuring against Newcastle

Jamaal Lascelles (knee), Sven Botman (knee) and Lewis Miley (back) are out long term for the Magpies.

Callum Wilson (back) likely won’t be back before the October international break.

ARSENAL V LEICESTER CITY

    Keep Raya
Fabianski (on the bench) to Neto using FT?
    Yes or No

No, you don't want to have 2 Arsenal keepers, when you'll probably want some of Saka, Gabriel, Saliba, Havertz...

Thanks. This is exactly I was thinking. In fact, I'd need to take a hit for that unless I had Neto from the beginning.

Probably Sanchez (maybe Flekken) and get Havertz in.

I'd rather Raya was okay. It seems quite a downgrade of GK. Both in my squad (caught prise rises). Hoping for news, before making a decision.

Raya will be fit, Arteta got loads of stick for ‘Dark Arts’ & he’s just making a point in a game Raya & co didn’t need to play in.

Having 3 Pool of Salah, Diaz and Konate an overkill?

Who else would you have in def ?

      Gvardiol.

He was close to scoring against Arsenal and he is slowly improving his fitness. It will depend in how Pep wants him to play but more nailed than Lewis and a nice run of fixtures with some potential for clean sheets.

    On WC

    Pick one each:

    A: Konsa
    B: Collins

    1: Bowen + Wood + 1.4 itb
    2: Bowen + Solanke

Last week was a massive blow, time to dust down and go again, 4FTs used.

    Raya
Trent / Gabriel / Rico Lewis / Van Den Berg
    Saka / Mbuemo / Diaz / Semenyo
    Haaland c / Watkins

Fanianksi / Pedro / Greaves / Ireobgbumbum 0.4 in the bank.

Don’t feel exposed by the wave of wildcards, they are bringing in a few players I already had.

Pedro has been a disaster on WC, not hitting him out this week and don’t really want to use a FT on him next, can roll that team back to 4 FTs assuming he is not a long term injury.

    1. _Freddo
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      • 16 Years

      FTs were….

      Salah to Diaz to fund…..
Dunk back to Gabriel (regret taking him out on WC)
Eze to Mbuemo (regret getting Eze on WC)
Nketiah to Watkins (regret not getting Watkins on WC)

I guess that’s the beauty of rolling FTs, can mix mistakes in an instant.

Biggest regret on WC, focussing too much on fixs but with 4FTs in the bank I felt I could gamble on that with the security blanket, now I’m just focussing on good players from here on in because they can score in any fix.

Went heavy on Brighton, Palace & Liverpool for their 2 week block & it backfired, I’m basically 20 points down from what would have been a green so this can be recovered quickly (hopefully)

Saka, even last night he got an assist, he’s getting something in every game, now the fixs are easing up, you’d have to back him for big scores because Arsenal will be more front footed.

Gut feeling as a Saka owner is he'll hardly ever blank but hardly ever haul big. Whereas Palmer will blank and frustrate more and then he'll get bigger hauls. I think they probably end the season close in points but they'll have very different journeys there.

Onana being an option opens things up, budget-wise.
Not convinced on Brentford defence. They have good fixtures. But, the opposition probably see them as a good fixture. If I had to pick one, probably Flekken (save points) or VdB (4.0 fodder).
With that budget, I'd go Sanchez/Flekken + Lewis. But, see if I could squeeze in Konate.
Also don't like the idea of a one week defender punt, assuming you're on WC. Before a WC, might as well

Getting a bit of FOMO not having Trent in WC team.

But without him and having Konate I get...

    1. Solanke, Jackson and 4.5M bench defender.

    With Trent

    2. Solanke, DCL and 4.3 bench defender.

    Thanks

    Why watkins isnt that popular?
Is it bacause of UCL? pricetag?
    Cheaper alternatives like DCL/wood/solanke?

A bit of everything really: price, form, fitness, UCL (especially Bayern) - not really confident he'll be outscoring cheaper options like Solanke at the moment

I do watch games. Watch the Bournemouth game again. Salah had massive chances. Pulls upo short and shoots easily savable shot, shots another right at GK. Got a very lucky assist and was generally kept in the pocket of Kerkez. Salah of yesteryear scores a brace at least in that game.

Completely agree. I’m a season ticket holder and Mo has been brilliant this season. Every season there is a run of games where a different (and cheaper) Liverpool asset scores well and every season this comes to an end but Mo just keeps scoring. Diaz is a great player but he is overachieving at the moment and I don’t think it will continue for much longer. Just my opinion FWIW.

Diaz with great rest last night, he easily starts vs Wolves now and he can be once again rested vs Bologna in CL (or at least very limited minutes, they shouldn't be that tough to crack). Then we have CP away, which I would also expect him to start, and next game will be vs Chelsea after IB on 20/10 while Colombia plays the last game on 15/10, ain't worst!

Fellow WCers... what are you planning to do with Raya given the injury comments from Arteta last night?

      Just about to ask this.....tricky

Could go gabriel and saliva- but this means no lewis

Could just get a 4.5m keeper and upgrade the front 8 or bank the cash.....I'm not sure

was passing on Lewis initially but I had a draft with Haaland/Salah/Saka/TAA/Gabriel/Raya ready (can't find the additional 0.5)
