The TC chip isn't nearly as high impact as people think.

If you did it in GW2, congrats, but in the grand scheme of things, it's 11 points difference between doing it in GW2 vs GW9. That's a tiny fraction of the points you get over the season. It's far more important to get your next few transfers correct because that's where you could get 30-50 point swings.

WC chip is by far the most important to get right as it not only defines your score differential for the gameweek it is played but has a longlasting effect over the next 5 to 10 weeks. For example, last year I played in GW10 and over the next 7 weeks went from 1.7m to 365k.

What's more important - it proves 15M for a player is just bonkers.

Haaland is leaving my team. Thank you for your support. See you later.

      Yes and Yes.

But, let's be real, you ain't posting this if Haaland scores 20. Then the talk is about maximizing value from the chip and making good decisions etc.

Well a good decision doesn’t always result in a favourable outcome.

If I Triple captained Armstrong today away at City and he got a hat trick, it would be an unusual (bad?) decision but with a favourable outcome

Yeah, but what did I say that didn't sit well with you.

If Haaland scored 20, everyone would say it is a good decision which received a favorable outcome.

It was the good decisions bit, it was definitely a good decision, just a relatively tame outcome

Perhaps. But if that were to happen you'd gain 3 points over GW2 TC'ers. It's not significant.

        1. fedolefan
          • 11 Years
          1 year, 1 month ago

But then the narrative for that week is 60 pts vs 40 pts and that's a big difference. No one is going to compare it to the GW2 TCs.

It's a one week chip. How much is anyone benefitting anyway.
Been the case all along. People overrate it when they haven't played it, downplay it when it hasn't done well and gloat when it's done well.

I do. I compare the TC to other TCs since it's a one time chip.

            The operative word being "gloat".

This forum is brutally toxic when it comes to bragging about one's own "great' decision making and gloating over your poor choices.

Bench boost isnt nearly as high impact as players think.

Difference between a good bench boost and a bad one is 8pts.

It isn't. None of the chips are that important. We just assign them disproportionate weight because they can only be used once.

Our transfers during the season and choices like going DCL over Wood on WC6 are what will decide your season.

Yeah okay I was wrong. I don't consider the WC a chip in my head. But yeah that one matters a lot because it persists across multiple GWs.

I'm talking about BB or TC. Both are vastly vastly overrated.

It's a good habit in life to think positively and reframe things in your favor.

I'm not hurting anyone by doing it.. I know this is a bad outcome but I could either mope or reframe it as a positive in that he didn't blank and I've not lost out on a ton by making this choice so far.

Who knows, maybe the future TC favorite blanks for 2?

Anyone thinking of swapping from Haaland to Salah for at least the next handful of games?

Haaland at 15m with 1 goal in the last 4 games, and has Bournemouth, Brighton away, then spurs at home and liverpool away
Salah at 12.5 with 2 goals 2 assists in the last 4 games, and has Brighton and Villa at home, Saints away and then city at home

Haaland should in theory start scoring again at some point but with City being fairly poor at the moment, this looks like a fairly sensible gamble for at least the next 4-5 gameweeks.

Annoyingly I just used three transfers and so now only have 1. So I'd need to do it as a -4, but I'd be upgrading Smith-Rowe to Salah and then can bring in one of the in-form cheap forwards, so potentially the -4 could repay itself straight away anyway

Or more likely is you didn't do it because he wasn't sure to start. He's a reasonable option at the price but I still think that 2 goals at home to Ipswich isn't something to hang your hopes on for predicting future returns.
