UEFA Champions League hopefuls Newcastle United and Chelsea go head-to-head on Sunday.

Kick-off at St James’ Park is at 12pm BST.

The early start is due to TV selection, with the match originally scheduled for Saturday lunchtime. However, this had to be moved due to Chelsea’s involvement in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday night.

Eddie Howe makes two changes from Gameweek 35, with Sven Botman and Anthony Gordon replacing the injured Kieran Trippier and Joe Willock.

Those alterations would seem to indicate that Howe has moved to a 3-4-3 formation, with Tino Livramento at left wing-back and Jacob Murphy on the other flank.

It could also be a back four, with Livramento and Dan Burn as full-backs.

Enzo Maresca restores his first choice XI, so Chelsea are unchanged for the third league match in a row.

Do strikers not care about golden booths anymore?

I remember the days when strikers where trying their hardest to score so many goals towards the end. Now Isak and Haaland for example just look like they want the season to be over.

Obvious red. The last interesting match of the season is now ruined.

It's extraordinary how bad the PL is at the moment. Last night's Match of the Day was painful to watch - they were grasping at anything to show: scuffed shots, huge offsides. Even Lineker was embarrassed.

VAR is obviously a huge culprit, but it's also clear the players are tired. But it's the clubs' own fault for chasing summer $$$ instead of doing proper preseasons.

Forest - Chelsea will be interesting on the final day, though Forest will beat Chelsea to the top 5

The players are tired comment is a myth though. So many teams have been playing 1 game a week. They’re paid loads, can rotate their squads.

    3. x.jim.x
      • 11 Years

It’s a busier schedule and managers are too adverse to rotating

Yeah, and football IS just much more intense now. Just look at the average distance run and how much it's gone up since 2000. No amount of money can help with that: you could pay me £1bn and all the training in the world, but if I had to run a marathon every few days I'd still be knackered.

Basic sport science for any intense sport - athletics, boxing, etc. - required a decent period to build a fitness "base" before more specialised work. If you don't get a proper pre-season to do that cos you're Harlem Globetrotting around the world, then nothing will help later on.

Depends who you support. I've enjoyed this season. I don't care so much about watching games as a neutral. Maybe the lack of "big" games between the top two is the thing that's been missing this season.

you can probably draw similarities to the mings one yesterday even

jackson done himself him by just looking straight at botman before making the contact, at least if your gonna do it be abit more discrete about it

If he didn’t look at him before he did it, it wouldn’t have gone to VAR.

Wouldn't mind that being red all the time since it's a cowardly challenge. But it's not red all the time, and going by similar challenges this season, I don't think it should be a red here either.
