First came Joe’s much-liked ‘Goals Imminent’ table, then the podcast of the same name. Completing the set, Goals Imminent is now here in article form.

Heading towards Gameweek 24 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL), these Members Area statistics will hopefully help identify some underachieving players who look ‘due’ for a goal and/or assist.

Naturally, we’ll attempt to assess whether they’re unlucky, suffering a rare blip, or just aren’t particularly good.

LAST WEEK’S SUCCESSES

FPL notes: Minteh early sub, Rutter “boost” + Bowen’s shots 3

Well, have we recovered from those high-profile benchings yet? Looking at the names on our table, Liam Delap‘s (£6.2m) substitute role was expected, the cameos of Erling Haaland (£15.1m) and Hugo Ekitike (£8.8m) less so.

Still, at least the double-digit hauls of Dominik Szoboszlai (£6.6m) and Jarrod Bowen (£7.6m) were on the cards. Both combined a goal with an assist in Gameweek 23.

Morgan Rogers (£7.7m) brought in a respectable eight points, thanks to defensive contribution (DefCon) rewards and setting up Aston Villa’s opener, but the Assists Imminent list had to put up with Phil Foden‘s (£8.5m) benching and a Bruno Guimaraes (£7.3m) injury.

At least we saw Anton Stach (£4.9m) deliver on his underlying creativity numbers with an assist on Monday night.

GOALS IMMINENT

    WC Draft look ok?

    Verbruggan
    Timber - Gabriel - Guehi
    Enzo - Rogers - Bruno - Rice
    Watkins - Evanilson - Haaland

    Dubravka - Wilson - Andersen - Esteve

    Bank 0.3

I suppose the main concern is the benching headache with I might have each week on the front 7 and Wilson, also pondering on whether to bring in Senesi for Guehi, think Guehi is bolted but Bournemouth have such good fixtures.

    Any ideas are welcome.

Great team but id consider Mbeumo, Mane over Watkins plus Cash for 31.

Have enough to upgrade Mids to Semenyo / Cunha.

Semenyo looks a lock in 26, Pep has no other winger that scores regularly.

Anyone on wildcard 24, are you bringing in Sa and Mane for a BB26?

Otherwise, unless your team has loads of issues I don't see the big advantage it offers.

    1. GCHILD2K16
      • 9 Years
      2 months, 17 days ago

Utterly pointless to bb in 26 let alone with SA and Mane. Save it.

WC considerstion is mbeumo over wirtz then back for 26, palmer or enzo given enzo plays further back when palmer plays and loses penalties and semenyo over rogers/Rice and wilson v summerville

It's not utterly pointless if Mane scores in both, appearance points doubled and Sa gets a clean sheet in one.

It's a viable option so close to a wildcard with 15 playing players.

          When did mane last score?
Unlikely to score at arsenal or nfo with dyche defence finally clicking. Larsen or Nigerian striker may
Sa aint keeping CS against either team.

Captain arsenal player perhaps. Wont go dbl ars def...bottling it has started aka conceeding goals

      • 16 Years

If not Haaland then who else? Maybe Watkins but Rogers is cheaper and likely to score the same going forward. Haaland also gives a captaincy option (brave to go Bruno every week)

The money isn’t needed elsewhere either (rice and Enzo rather than Saka and palmer)

Don't know why you'd want Sa. You have to pay 0.3m more for the extra fixture of Arsenal away while being benched for all the other weeks.

But yes, Mane is on my WC24 and likely to stay there.

For there to be a double, the team has to reach the EFL cup final and finish in the top 8 of the CL.

Also, the other issue with wildcard 24 is that if might be the time to lose Haaland.

But that's not the consensus, so Haaland is still being picked, rather than the money spent elsewhere when a wildcard is the time to do it.

    Potential United front 4

    High press/ counter attack:
    Amad Bruno Cunha
    Mbeumo

    Low block/ higher possession:
    Mbeumo Bruno Cunha
    Sesko

Does Amad start RB or on the bench? Amad could start LW but he hasn't been great when played there and I don't think he would start ahead of Mbeumo at RW.

    1. Tonyawesome69

Bruno vs Mbeumo is a straightforward decision imo.

With the Dorgu injury, Mbeumo (8.3) vs Cunha (8.0) vs Amad (6.2) is an interesting decision if looking to double up on United attackers.

    1. Old Wulfrunian
      • 9 Years

I was set on Mbeumo but Fulham and Tottenham are weak on their left side and Diallo could be a good punt.I am between a second Man Utd midfielder and Enzo.I fear a goalless draw against Tottenham and Everton away isn't an easy fixture.Probably low score.

I think Bruno and Mbeumo are the best utd options by far and totally nailed imo. I can see sesko playing v fulham so one of cunha / amad on the bench. Bruno is back in the 10 with everything going through him and mbeumo is back to his best and really clinical right now.

With Dorgu now out,, my defence is Dorgu Reinaldo Gabriel Thiaw and Tarkowski.

I was planning to move Thiaw to Senesi next week which will leave me with Gabriel, Tark and Reinaldo this game week.

Should I do Thiaw to Senesi this week instead and play him instead of Reinaldo?

If I want Bruno i need to downgrade Chal or Timber.

You prefer: Rogers> Bruno, Chal > Senesi?

I'd lose Semenyo before Rogers tbh. Less rotation risk.

You have 5 of the template 8, with form and fixtures. You don't need a move yet

Can't you get Bruno F another way?

Semenyo suggested. Don't think he's getting dropped atm tho.

Worth using 2FT to do Saka & Keane to Mbuemo / Semenyo & Gabriel? Already have Raya & Rice

    If yes, Mbuemo or Semenyo?

Would sell raya get gabriel..cs are going to occur less and less for arsenal
Should have sold saka 5 weeks ago at least so get rid pronto. Get mbuemo over semenyo or both if you can.

I'd say yes. V close but I'd go for mbeumo as more nailed and better fixtures short term.

Thiaw (fixtures or turning) to Senesi or just play Reinaldo? Or Kelleher to Sanchez (otherwise play Dubravka)
