After a bit of a damp squib at Brentford last Thursday, events at Molineux this evening will define Double Gameweek 26 for many Fantasy managers.

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Arsenal kicks off 20:00 GMT.

TEAM NEWS

There are no huge surprises with the Arsenal line-up.

Mikel Arteta has made seven changes from the (mostly) second-string side that beat Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup but compared to the Brentford match, there are just three alterations.

One comes at centre-half as William Saliba, who was ill last Thursday, replaces Cristhian Mosquera.

Perhaps the most headline-grabbing inclusion is that of Bukayo Saka, who looks set to reprise the number 10 role he occupied against Wigan.

Gabriel Martinelli also comes in on the left wing, with Eberechi Eze and Leandro Trossard dropping to the bench.

Ben White and Riccardo Calafiori, passed fit yesterday, are only among the substitutes.

Wolves boss Rob Edwards went quite strong for Sunday’s FA Cup win at Grimsby Town, by contrast.

He makes four changes from that side, bringing back Jose Sa, Hugo Bueno, Angel Gomes and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde.

Cup goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, David Moller Wolfe, Joao Gomes and Tolu Arokodare drop to the bench.

LINE-UPS

Wolverhampton Wanderers XI: Sa, Tchatchoua, Mosquera, S Bueno, Krejci, H Bueno, Andre, A Gomes, Bellegarde, Mane, Armstrong.

Subs: Johnstone, Lima, R Gomes, Doherty, Wolfe, Rawlings, J Gomes, Edozie, Arokodare.

Arsenal XI: Raya, Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapie, Rice, Zubimendi, Madueke, Saka, Martinelli, Gyokeres.

Subs: Arrizabalaga, Mosquera, White, Jesus, Eze, Norgaard, Trossard, Calafiori, Lewis-Skelly.

One thing always found odd is the PL table is never anywhere on the FPL site - for a game that is based on form you’d think it was fairly key data….

What are Arsenal doing here? They can't even kill off a dead game and want to win the league.

Well, Arsenal is playing like a team that can suddenly drop 7 points in 4 games if a decision or two doesn't go their way. No urgency in attack, just going through the motions as long as they are in control. If a team scores first or equalizes late, I feel Arsenal can at most draw most games. They have regressed from previous seasons in this aspect.

Those that are neutral about both teams, how does this Arsenal side compare on an aesthetic perspective to Mourinho's first Chelsea team?

I'm a Chelsea fan and have my anti-Arsenal bias but I find their games really difficult to watch but always heard others felt the same about Chelsea between 2004-06

I'm a Gooner, and it's a tough watch. I remember the Mourinho 2005 post team - they had special teams who scored long range and spontaneous goals on top of their defensive work.

Current Arse, that Chelsea team had at least more matches where it wasn't a chore to watch.

theyre pretty similar but that chelsea side ended up winning back to back leagues so one can understand why chelsea fans enjoyed it. if arsenal dont win the league, this is torture to watch for everyone, and im an arsenal fan

It's a tough choice, Chelsea had Duff and Robben so were probably a bit less boring but they were easily more hatable!

arteta has to go if there is no league title or ucl this season. 22-24, contrary to some, the football was pretty entertaining despite not winning anything.

this season is some of the most tedious stuff ive seen, especially last few months. No urgency in most game after going a goal up, like they're waiting for set pieces or the opponent to score. Cant afford to be this dire and not win anything

    1. Ray85
      • 8 Years
      1 month, 16 days ago

But that entertaining football never won anything. Im happy to give him another season. Klopp only won one PL title and CL in his 7/8 seasons. And we've all see what changing managers can do for Chelsea, Utd and Spurs. Arsenal are nearly there and need to be patient. It's not easy beating Peps City.

      1. Nightcrawler

and what exaclty would this boring football have won if there is no big title this season? at least that was up against an elite city team. you cant get away with going up against no elite teams, playing ridiculously boring football AND not winning anything

im only talking about a scenario where there is no ucl or league this season

The ridiculously boring football that has scored the most goals in the CL and second most in the PL. Apparently we only score from set pieces yet we haven't even scored the most in the PL.
