Goals mean points in UCL Fantasy, so identifying the teams expected to score heavily can help us target the best attacking assets for Matchday 1.

So, here we take a look at our projected team goals for the opening round.

These projections come from our brand-new UCL Fantasy Toolkit!

There’s free stuff in there for every UCL manager but, as ever, Chief Scout Members can dig even deeper.

From player points projections and underlying statistics to the Fixture Ticker and Draft Tool, it’s all here to help you build your Matchday 1 squads.

TOP 10 PROJECTED TEAM GOALS

Note: You can access all 36 clean sheet projections in our toolkit

PSG lead the way for attacking potential in Matchday 1. The back-to-back European champions are projected to score 3.60 goals at home to Slovan Bratislava.

It is an extremely appealing fixture on paper. When Slovan last featured in the Champions League, they conceded more than three goals per game on average.

Bayern Munich aren’t far behind. They host Bodo/Glimt and are projected to score 3.52 goals. Their attacking credentials are already well established, with only Arsenal scoring more goals than the German giants during last season’s League Phase.

Barcelona and Manchester United are level on 3.41 projected goals. United could run riot against Champions League newcomers Sabah, while Barca have scored more goals per game (4.25) in 2026/27 than any of the other 35 Champions League teams:

Stuttgart are the only other side expected to reach the three-goal mark. The German side host Viking, who haven’t featured in the Champions League since 1992.

Elsewhere, PSV are ahead of even Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City. While the quality of the Eredivisie has to be factored in, they’ve had a free-scoring start to the season:

AEK Athens are a surprise name in the projected goals table but bear in mind that LASK just conceded four goals to Celtic in the play-off round.

I quite like the Stach pick.

Wouldn't go near the Palace defence though and not yet sold on Munoz as the best option at that price at Forest

Bit the hype hard and brought in Shade and Wissa. I was just convinced, for some reason, that Shade would go off.

Did either/both look good/threatening at least?

I’ve owned Schade from day one and am now looking to hop off, the fixtures on the horizon look like a mushroom cloud!

I am also a Schade owner, and 1 return from 3 matches is underwhelming. Still mulling over whether to move him on or keep. The fixtures certainly don’t look good.

So I was liking the idea off a froint 3 off Pedro, haaland and isak, tho looking at it, personally I think gakpo looks liverpools best player, and Everton's fixtures look good at least for the short term, surely Barry is a great punt, also I'm on a wildcard, what's people's Thots?

I guess GW12 when Arsenal face Man City, Man Utd against Brentford. It really depends on team composition tbh. GW9 is where its Arsenal vs Liverpool, Brighton vs Man City, Chelsea vs United.

I think those WCing in international break might look at GW9 as a good FH spot.

    3. JBG

If you're thinking about any GW where you go without Arsenal or City assets, there aren't any imo. Maybe the one GW they play each other (when City is at home). Other than that, Haaland can score against any team and Arsenal can keep a CS against any team.

Tough to predict. With the way they conceded against Everton, you would expect Haaland to do well. Both are on penalties, so returns are not out of question.

Looking at it in reverser manner, I think there are more options in midfield than upfront. So Haaland over Bruno on that basis and United defense being poor.

What is the advantage of waiting until GW6 to WC?
I see and think that the draft this week for FH isn't that much different, so thinking of WC

    Draft A:
    Verbruggen / Hornicek
Calafiori, Mitchell, De Cuyper, Hall, Konsa
    Gakpo, Gomez, Rogers, Mbeumo, MGM
    JP, Havertz, Haaland

    Draft B:
    4.5 and 4.0 GK
Calafiori, Muharemovic, De Cuyper, Hall, Konsa
    Palmer, Saka, Rogers, Barnes, Slater
    JP, Wissa, Haaland

Injuries during 3 week break can create issues. Gives more time and data to prepare WC draft.

Waiting until GW6 allows you to:

      - See teams/managers approach to mid-week games (rotation)

      - Get a steer on if any City mid is nailed (Semenyo, Enzo ???)

      - See whether teams/players (Sangare, Wissa, Dedic, Cherki, Gakpo) was honeymoon period or actually good longer term picks).

Some will disagree but suspect they’ve mostly played their WC now and are doubling down on it.

On FH would you triple up on Arse defenders? Already double, which most are.

    Would give me this team:

    Verbruggen-(Steele)
    Gabriel-Calafiori-Mitchell-Konsa-(Egan)
    Palmer-Gakpo-Tavernier-(4.5m-4.5m)
    Haaland-Isak-JP

I'd rather spend that Gabriel money on Rogers

    White/Bruno/DCL >Konsa/Palmer/Isak?
Would leave me 0.5m atm. Really like Bruno as a pick tho overall so a bit worried if selling him is the right move..

WC in hand if things go rapidly south. Anything else you would consider?

    Kinsky.
    White, Calif, Ajer.
    Anderson, Bruno, Szob, Odegaard.
    DCL, Haaland, Joao.
    Verbruggan, Sangare, Maguire, Davis.
    0.0m ITB, 3 ft's..

Is FH with 3 arsenal(2 defence + 1 attack) + 3 Chelsea attacker + 3 Liverpool attackers + 2 extra punt on Trafford + khalaili can be good ? Or, it’s better to reserve for later ? It will be 9 changes from my current XI.

    Trafford

    Cala Gabriel khalaili/Mitchell

    Saka Palmer Roger’s Gakpo Wirtz

    Isak Pedro

    Who would you pick for the last spot in my FH team;

    Verbruggen
    Gabriel Calafiori Kerkez
    Palmer Rogers Saka Gakpo
    Isak Pedro(C)

    1) MGW
    2) Mbuemo
    3) De Cuyper
    4) Khalailli

    Or anyone else of course..

    Thanks!
