Here, they talk through their key picks, transfers, captaincy decisions and club selections for Gameweek 7.

Fantasy EFL 7 Gameweek

NOTES

  • York at home to Gillingham provides one of my favourite defensive opportunities this week. Alfie McNally is expected to start in goal, making him the simplest route into a potential home clean sheet.
  • Jack Fitzwater keeps his place in defence after another strong start to the season. His defensive volume provides an excellent floor, even away to Bristol Rovers, so I’m not relying solely on clean-sheet points. I’m doubling up on York at the back with Harry Boyes. Alongside the clean-sheet potential, Boyes offers plenty going forward and has already produced two goals and four assists this season.
  • Oliver Norwood gets the captaincy for Stockport’s home meeting with Peterborough. The visitors have problems at centre-back, while Norwood remains central to Stockport’s play. His penalties, set pieces and secure minutes make him my standout captain this week. Grimsby’s Kieran Green takes the vice-captaincy ahead of their trip to Newport. He remains a key figure in the Mariners’ midfield and offers several routes to points.
  • Up front, Jack Marriott is the striker I trust most for pure shot volume this week. Reading’s trip to Wycombe isn’t the most attractive fixture, but Marriott remains their main goal threat and offers plenty of upside. He has started the campaign in excellent form. Aribim Pepple completes the attack ahead of Plymouth’s home meeting with Burton. His reliable minutes and penalty-taking potential provide a solid floor alongside Marriott’s higher ceiling.
  • For my club picks, I’m backing Grimsby Town and Stockport County. Stockport provide the higher ceiling at home against a depleted Peterborough defence, while Grimsby remain a side I want exposure to despite travelling to Newport.

NOTES

  • There aren’t too many defensive options that appeal to me this week, so I’m going with a Cambridge United double-up. Wimbledon aren’t creating much, which gives me an opportunity to go slightly different and chase the clean-sheet upside.
  • Plymouth Argyle’s Alex Mitchell completes my defence. He carries some goal threat and also has clean-sheet potential this week.
  • Oliver Norwood is the obvious pick in midfield. Meanwhile, Alex Newby is in good form and has a favourable fixture. York are also creating plenty of chances, which adds to his appeal.
  • Up front, Kyle Wootton and Aribim Pepple are my standout picks. Both are proven goalscorers and should get opportunities against two poor sides this week.
  • Finally, my club picks are Stockport County and Plymouth Argyle. Both selections complement my player picks and are two teams I’m keen to back this week.

NOTES

  • Painfully, I couldn’t fit in Jack Diamond or Reece Cole, who were two of the differentials I liked most after looking through the data and matchups.
  • In goal, Jake Eastwood gets the nod against Wimbledon. It looks like a good opportunity for Cambridge to produce a clean sheet.
  • At the back, I’ve gone with Harry Boyes and Alex Mitchell. Gillingham have struggled going forward, while Boyes has featured regularly in my notes. Mitchell faces Burton and also offers a strong baseline, having made 42 clearances across seven appearances.
  • I’m happy with my midfield, even with the gaping hole that Lewis Wing has left behind. Six goals, one assist and 13 shots on target make Alex Newby my captain against Gillingham. Alongside him, Oliver Norwood has several routes to points through set pieces and interceptions.
  • Up front, Aribim Pepple has scored in each of his last four matches, so he comes into the Burton clash in excellent form. Aaron Drinan joins him after producing five goals and 11 shots on target across seven appearances.
  • Finally, Stockport County and Plymouth Argyle are my club picks. Both have appealing home fixtures and offer potential for points through wins, goals and clean sheets.
