As the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Gameweek 7 deadline approaches, it’s high time we shared our Scout Picks for the upcoming round of fixtures.

This is, essentially, a Free Hit in all but name, with each selection made with a focus on the upcoming Gameweek in isolation. Selections made in the Scout Squad earlier in the week are a big factor when it comes to deciding who made the final cut.

As ever, our picks were limited by certain restrictions:

  • An £83.0m budget for our starting XI
  • An overall squad limit of £100.0m
  • No more than three players per team

GAMEWEEK 7 SCOUT PICKS

GOALKEEPER

Man City v Man Utd team news: Donnarumma debut, Gvardiol, Foden + Sesko start

Between the posts, Gianluigi Donnarumma (£5.5m) gets the nod. 

The Manchester City ‘keeper didn’t cover himself in much glory during his side’s midweek defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, but three Premier League clean sheets from six attempts plus at least one save point in all but one match so far – giving him a league-high six in total – are promising stats ahead of a home meeting with Ipswich Town.

A nailed-on starter, the Italian stopper offers the safest route into a City backline that has been disrupted by rotation in recent outings but still boasts the best clean sheet odds this week.

      Jackson will probably be more reliable if you're likely to play him every week.

      I'm wildcarding this week, had Brobbey from the start and will probably keep him, punt on Manzambi and bring in De Cuyper and play one every week. Brobbey's price is enticing if you're buying now, I've already stomached the 0.3m loss but think it's a bit late to switch to Barry at this point.

        Maybe not stats wise but got a good feeling about him. Good for defcon and on set pieces. Got 29 points so far this season with just one attacking return. He is the kinda player that just ticks along nicely

      If you want to be aggressive, yes. Even if he’s benched he might return. But you know the risk. If the rest of your bench is good and Gvardiol starts, you’ll regret not

      Good core squad and 4FTs is a luxury. Do you have anything itb? I’d downgrade Wissa and go Szob to one of Cherki or Semenyo for 352, and then you still have Konsa first bench

          I don’t like Solanke as much as others at the moment. I’d still go DCL, but I’d understand Solanke if you want to go there, they have cracking home fixtures coming.

          I’m boring, so for City (assuming it’s longer term) I’d be: Semenyo, Enzo, Anderson. I’d go all of them over Cherki. Most likely the minority view and I realise there’s a huge price difference

      So hard to decide what to do with City assets… trying my best to resist Cherki as if he plays against City he could go huge. But on the other side of that, he could easily be benched and then you’ve just take out a perfectly decent asset in Mbeumo and replaced him with someone sitting on the bench. I’d maybe have a plan and then wait for leaks tomorrow.

    Looking at the price fallers tonight I see Kroupi Jnr dropping, but how the hell did FPL decide to make him and Joao Pedro the same price (7.5m)? When JP had no Europe and was highly owned last season. Just made it a 10 player game effectively!

    Original plan was to roll the 2fts then do Szob, Konsa, Cherki to Muharemovic, Saka, Rudoni next week, which i have 0.1 to spare. But im tempted to do Szob to Rudoni this week since im benching anyway and avoid the potential drop in price from Szob. Thoughts?
