Many Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers will be tempted to punt on an Aston Villa attacker this week, with interest chiefly focused on Nicolas Jackson (£6.8m) and Johan Manzambi (£6.0m).

Unai Emery’s men are, of course, poised for a superb upcoming run of fixtures…

But how do the Aston Villa pair measure up against one another?

We’ll explore Jackson and Manzambi’s Fantasy appeal below.

GOAL THREAT

Mins per goalMins per shotMins per shot in boxMins per xG
Jackson136.028.636.3274.7
Manzambi161.521.532.3215.3

A brace against Manchester City has taken Jackson to four goals in seven league matches, with a further three in the Champions League.

It’s a far cry from his time at Chelsea, when he was so often wasteful.

This season, however, Jackson has outperformed Opta expectations by just over two goals, with Emery’s coaching methods perhaps having an impact…

“How he was working, how he was defending, how he was getting duels… wow. And then he has the power to attack with the spaces, to attack with duels. And his challenge is, when he can have chances to score, always in the corner of the goals, because he was shooting so much at the beginning the season like in rugby! So, he’s progressing well.” – Unai Emery on Nicolas Jackson’s Gameweek 8 display

Manzambi has also enjoyed an excellent start at Villa.

After he missed the first few matches of the season due to injury, he’s scored two goals in four starts and one substitute appearance.

The Switzerland international actually has the upper hand in minutes per shot, shot in the box and expected goal (xG), as shown in the table above.

However, Villa started the season incredibly slowly, with merely one goal in their first four matches, which has consequently impacted Jackson’s numbers. Indeed, the Senegal international managed only two shots and 0.24 xG in Gameweeks 2-4.

From Manzambi’s full debut in Gameweek 5 onwards, which has coincided with the Villans’ improved form, Jackson arguably has the better shot map, even if you’d like a few of those attempts to be more central.

Could that perhaps be by design, however, given Emery’s request to hit the corners, with Jackson simply trying to find the best angle to shoot?

Best option for the next 5 or so GWs? (Draft FPL so money not an issue)

    1. Maddison
    2. Rayan
    3. Kroupi

    Hi all,
Any suggested transfers this week? Wanting to get in Silva or Muharemovic but don’t think it’s a must this week give my DEFs decent fixtures. 1FT, £1.7

    Raya
    Calafiori Hall Egan
    Palmer Tav Manzambi MGW Gross
    Haaland DCL
    (Dub Konsa De Cuyper JPedro)

Got both for now! See how that goes. Could be too much, but I like the idea of covering each other's minutes risks and goal share.

Can pivot either to better options emerging over next few weeks.

Also ended up with both Manzambi and then Jackson due to JP injury. Have a feeling it is a bit too much Villa, and one of those should either be Tavernier or Evanilson

      1. Haha it's like looking in a mirror.

Problem is, I want one of those two BOU from next week (and can rid of Delap/MGW). But not for Jackson or Manzambi.

I'll probably end up going into int break with 2 x Villa and one Bou attacker. Then reassess around GW12 or 13.

    2 City vs 3 Brighton
    2 Arsenal vs Liverpool

Would you do MGW to Manzambi? I have Haaland Isak and Barry eho has two good fixtures so unable to fit Jackson in

Yes. I have both. But I did Szobo to Manz couple of weeks back. If I hadn't, MGW to Manz this week for sure.

    Good morning all. Current team:

    Verb/kinsky
    Konsa/cali/muha/ajer/oshea
    Ode/palmer/rogers/schade/gross
    Haaland/pedro/dcl

    Wildcat team would be:

    Same keepers
    Gabriel/konsa/silva/muha/oshea
    Rogers/Tavernier/manzambi/gakpo/gross
    Haaland/isak/jackson

Is this worth it? Or would you just do 2FT Pedro and ode to isak and tav.

    Appreciate the feedback. Thanks!

I'd just use the 2 FT's now, and your team will be fine. Then WC during IB if needed. WC will also be a strong chip to have in the pocket during Christmas

Nah your team is fine. Just focus on getting Isak and Tav in usings FTs over the next few weeks

How's the WC team looking? Any areas need improving?

    0.5ITB

    Petrovic/Kinsky
Gabriel Muharemović Van Hecke (Vušković Maatsen)
    Rogers Tavenier Manzambi Kudus (Gross)
    Haaland Isak N.Jackson

I guess it's pretty close to the new template. But I think you are too early with Kudus, think I'd go wirh KDH over him at this point. And wiht Gabriel and Isak in there, I guess you can't afford Raya for double Arsenal defense coverage

      1. Norco

Only way I can get Raya is by going:

Kudus > Rudoni (only play him if needed)
        Petrovic > Raya

    2. PogChamp

I think I would want Raya if no Calafiori.

Yeah feel ya, might drop Kudus to upgrade Petrovic > Raya

    2FT, 3.1 ITB, opinions needed

    Raya (bentley)
Calafiori, Muharemovic, Hall (egan, de cuyper)
    Mbeumo, Rogers, Schade, Gross (king)
    Haaland, JP, Gonzalo

    A) Gonzalo + JP --- Jackson + DCL
    B) Gonzalo --- Jackson, keep JP and play King
    C) Gonzalo + King --- Jackson + Tavernier, keep JP

    1. Utopsis

Oo I like C - then deal with JP next week

    G2G for WC?

    Kinsky
    Egan, Van Hecke, Gabriel
    Rogers, Manzambi, Schade, Tavernier
    Jackson, Haaland, Evanilson

    Raya, Gross, Konsa, Cupyer

    2. Conners

I'm not convinced Raya's worth it tbh.

He's not miles ahead of Verbruggen, Trafford, etc. Plus, you can get an amazing rotation out of Kinsky plus either Petrovic or Trafford. (Good fixtures for months).

People really aren't ready for the double-decker that Artetanyahu is going to park up at Anfield this weekend

  14. Help needed please Legends.

Team is here: Already done JP to Jackson but have 1 FT with 3.4M in the bank.

    Verb
    Konsa Cal Maguire
    Palmer Cherki Ode Gross Rogers
    Haaland Jackson

    Dub Kostoulas Thomas Davis

Obvious concerns are Cal, Maguire, Thomas, Ode & Cherki plus the form of Palmer.

    A. Ride it out and maybe make another change. Which one?

    B. Hit the WC

Let's see your wildcard draft, otherwise just play Davis + Kostoulas instead of Maguire + Odegaard and call it a day.

Feels like a good time to WC if you ask me. And you have a good 8 or so players that could be replaced.
